  • "It was really cold at our table - my husband and baby had to keep their coats on the entire time! The staff kept on rushing us; they tried clearing our plates while I was still chewing and while 1/4 of the plates were still full! The food was mediocre - we had the dark fried chicken, the fish and grits and the oyster and wings. The cornbread was the highlight of our dinner! The drinks were not the best - my bourbon cocktail was cloyingly sweet and my husband's gin cocktail tasted like an amateur mixed it. The highlight of the evening was when Marcus Samuelsson showed up! "

  • "The restaurant was easy to find and the location was attractive. We enjoyed the different charachteristics of the drinks we tried. The food was okey and good seasoned. Our expectations were high since we got a recomendation to eat there. The meat was good however the fish dishes didnot live up to our standards. We enjoyed the atmosphere, the mix of customers and the live music. Overall a faboulous evening."

  • "My experience at the Red Rooster was OK...I thought the food was average; and nothing to rave about. The portion size; small; the wait is too long (even with a reservation) for average food. My waiter was pleasant, but not overly helpful...and it is super loud in there...not ideal for my birthday which is why I went. I expected a nice portion of food and for it to taste better. I had salmon , it was good, but the bed of mashed cauliflower that it layed on was not appetizing at all. My husband had the fried chicken...i think they call it Yard Bird...it suppose to be a signature dish...again average. Just was not what I expected, I just kind of expected to be wowed and was not. I would go back with girlfriends with lower expectations."

  • "We arrived on time for our reservation and we're asked to wait at the bar. It took the restaurant 45 mins to seat us! We love RR but we're really disappointed and embarrassed as we were bringing friends with us after really talking the place up. One of our guests was elderly and we almost had to leave. Despite the excellent food, we left with a bad taste. The restaurant comped us 4 glasses of wine and some snacks, but they need to get their act together for people who make reservations."

  • "I had a fantastic pasta for lunch and my husband had a burger which was among the best he ever had. It was very easy to get there by express train nr 3 from Park place. You got out of the subway station and the Red Rooster was just there in front of you. The service was very nice and the feeling was very friendly."

  • "I had the lemon chicken entree and my guest had the lobster Mac and cheese ...both dishes were exceptional . The wine selection suggested by the host was again exceptional . The chocolate cake dessert wasn't that good, but was taken off the bill."

  • "Food was pretty good, but the terrible service did not make it worth it. We waited over 30 minutes for a check that we asked for three times. And that was after several other issues with service. Some of the dishes we had were pretty good, but none were exceptional, and the sauteed kale was the worst kale I've ever had. If you go-- get the collards instead of the kale, and make sure you have 3 hours to spare."

  • "we arrived on time for a 9pm reservation and while others who arrived after us were seated we were finally invited to sit after I checked in with the hostess stand for the 3rd time 45 minutes later. we were first sat at a communal table by the restrooms which i declined. They then returned to give us another poor table beside the primary service area. at which point I suggested we just go elsewhere. There were better tables I imagine they thought we would settle for the worst tables in the restaurant There was no attempts made such as a glass of wine to compensate."

  • "I'm very glad that our experience at the Red Rooster was very good. It made up for an aggravating experience on the MTA! We chose the 3-course Prix Fixe, at a reasonable $25 for the huge amount of food that you received. In fact, that would be my major criticism: too much of a good thing. I had the excellent mac & greens, preceded by a nice, fresh salad and three donut-hole dessert (sorry I can't recall the correct name!). The mac & greens was way too much food for something so rich and 'heavy.' My wife's meatballs were also a too-large portion. Don't get me wrong I like to get value for my money, but unless you're a twenty-something, I don't think you'll be able to finish everything on your plate! The corn bread side order was fabulous!"

The only thing was the hosts took a long time seating us (over 20 minutes) even though we had a reservation - while that isn't a huge problem the annoyance was that they didn't communicate with us about the delay and really just left us feeling forgotten. But other than that, a wonderful place!"

Took a really long time to et a server to our table (repeatedly) because he had about a zillion tables so that was a bummer because it took a long time to get a drink, but he was working really hard. They appeared to be short-staffed. Wine was okay, not great, but I appreciated the price point. My husband lied the oxtail but wished he got the fried chicken. Fortunately, my serving was large so he got his fill. Greens were also delicious."

  • "We booked here because of the unplugged Monday session (house band) starting at 8 pm. The place was very busy when we arrived, and our table wasn't ready. There were other guests waiting for their table at the bar as well. The bar area was quite loud, but we enjoyed the scenery as soon as the band started playing. They were really good, and improvised a lot - the people at the table next to us, however, put their fingers in their ears because of the sound level... The food was good, although the burger was nearly raw and there was a mixup with my food. They also had local beer from Brooklyn, which was nice. Would return!"
