Great service, cool vibe, probably won't be back soon, maybe to try the brunch.6/12/2013 12:00:00 AMgreat destination restaurantMy friend and I enjoyed Red Rooster after a museum day on the upper east side. We were looking for a fun, happening restaurant with great food fit for foodies. We hit a home run with Marcus Samuelson's place. It has a great vibe and deliciously inspired food and bar menu.6/10/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat lunch!Recently had a wonderful lunch here. I had the Obama-tini, ginger carrot soup, and the meatballs. Dining companion had the fried green tomatoes and yard bird. All were delicious. The tomato jam served with the cornbread was amazing. Definitely a different twist on Southern cooking. We loved it!!6/10/2013 12:00:00 AMGlad I went!!! May return!!The food has very complex flavors lots of spices even the specialty drinks from the bar. I consider my self a foodie and love to try new places the food was good just not awesome. Crab Cake was terrible full of breading they should be ashamed of themselves. Corn Bread is a MUST have awesome!!6/10/2013 12:00:00 AMCan't wait to go back!At first glance, the menu was a little ordinary: plain old southern fare. But when we received our dishes, we were pleasantly surprised. Innovative ingredients and presentation made everything we ordered extra special. We especially enjoyed the sliders. The marinated julienned vegetables added mysterious flavors to the delightful bites. Would definitely like to return to try the dishes we haven't sampled yet. Service was impeccable. Great band played in bar area while we dined. It was a little too loud for conversation though...6/10/2013 12:00:00 AMA GREAT SOCIAL EVENT!This was the second occasion my man and I have had to visit the Red Rooster. The food is excellent. There was live music and we met a number of people. We had dinner - catfish and grits. It's a great atmosphere and the customer service is superb. We left and came back later that evening and spent some more time there.6/9/2013 12:00:00 AMBuzzing SceneThis was our first trip to Harlem, let alone Red Rooster. On a beautiful June Sunday afternoon, the street scene was popping and seemed to completely reflect the character of NYC. Inside Red Rooster, the joint was jumpin' and Chef Samuelsson was floating around. Ambiance was exactly as expected: a real happy buzz. The decor is eclectic and brite and the wait staff is busy but capable. Food was well prepared and possessed original touches that made for a great dining experience.6/9/2013 12:00:00 AMLoved Red Roosterthe food was superb and i also liked the energy of the restaurant. I has a seafood special which was fully flavor and memorable.6/8/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat food, great people! The people serving you at this place are great, the restaurant itself is decorated in a warm and friendly style. The music level was a little high which rendered some misunderstanding of the order but with the already mentioned superb staff, this didn't become a problem, rather the opposite. Thanks Red Rooster for a wonderful evening!6/7/2013 12:00:00 AMI made reservations on line.I made reservations on line. Got to the restaurant, everything went well. The music was at a perfect volume...we could talk without having to scream across the table. The food was delicious, as expected, and the portion size was perfect. Would definitely recommend to friends and would go back.6/4/2013 12:00:00 AMNice and FunäsdalenÀ Funäsdalen place with à LOT of energi, perplex and live. At the same time excellens good in a Nice atmospher. Some time Hardy Torsås talk due Torsås high noice lever.6/4/2013 12:00:00 AMWe had a lovely dining experience. We had a lovely dining experience. However, while we were having coffee, we rec'd our check and were finishing up, the manager came over and told us they were running behind on reservations and could we finish our coffee at the bar which was 3 deep at the time!!). This was very rude and inappropriate. Our server was great and was vry upset whenwe told him about it. this is not the way a classy restaurant should act.6/4/2013 12:00:00 AMNice place for lunchAlthough we were one hour before our booking, they got us a table within 15 minutes. Well tasting food and good wine recommendations from a friendly staff. Highly recommended, nice interior.6/3/2013 12:00:00 AMRed Rooster is fabulousMy husband and I were visiting NY city and read about Red Rooster. We wanted to experience true American comfort food. We had a hard time deciding what to try as everything sounded so good! Favourites were the fried green tomatoes and Fried Yardbird. Atmosphere is great too. Live music and great patio. The service was excellent and all the staff were friendly and helpful. We had a great time. Thank you6/3/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellentGreat fun for all ages and styles. Creative food choices. Best cornbread I've ever eaten. Incredibly friendly host, bar and wait staff. I've been twice--once for lunch and once for dinner. Both times, Marcus Samuelson was around, checking in with kitchen, bar, etc.
Thanks!5/31/2013 12:00:00 AMHigh spot in HarlemFirst time in Harlem during vacation. The Red Rooster has a nice look, food and service. A little beat pricey. Great idea to run this restaurant in Harlem, instead of touristic area in lower Manhattan.
Help to drive many different kind of people to stay on 125th street and mix up a little the people ! Good feeling !
Anyway try to have lunch or more at Red Rooster! A Frenchie advise !5/31/2013 12:00:00 AMRed Rooster Hot SpotRed Rooster is the place to see and be seen in Harlem, maybe New York City. The hostesses and waitstaff make everyone feel like a celebrity. There is an eclectic mix of people from what seems like all over the world. It is an experience that shouldn't be missed.5/30/2013 12:00:00 AMTourist TreatI enjoyed the rooster punch, could not get enough. The rooster Cobb was also great!5/30/2013 12:00:00 AMThe Honey Mustard Salmon wasThe Honey Mustard Salmon was cooked just perfectly, well seasoned and tasty. The waiters were knowledge and very helpful with the questions about the dishes. Impeccable wine list.5/30/2013 12:00:00 AMGem in HarlemThe Red Rooster was a terrific dining experience for me. I went for lunch and was seated across from the open kitchen. It's a great addition to the neighborhood of Harlem. The cornbread is outstanding, a must order and maybe the best I've ever eaten. Likewise, the fried chicken is superb, the largest thigh and leg I've seen. Great mac and cheese as well. Service is very warm, friendly, and outgoing. Only negative is the location as it is a trek for those of us who live farther downtown.5/29/2013 12:00:00 AMWorth the visit to Harlem!A Harlem gem! Great spins on american southern food. Outstanding and professional service. Tight menu. Friendly staff. Buzzy atmosphere. Fun and fantastic food!5/29/2013 12:00:00 AMWalking Lobster Chowder.I cannot believe how amazing the food is and all the amazing food that walked by our table.5/29/2013 12:00:00 AMsomething to crow aboutreally a fun experience...the wait staff and others offer some of the friendliest , relaxed service one could ask for............read chef Samuelson's memoir to complete the experience............will definitely would go back on our next trip to N.Y. city.5/27/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat dinnerThe food was terrific. Everything we ate was fabulous from the corn bread and other appetizers through desert. We enjoyed every course. One of my best meals in a while. The atmosphere was great and they even had live music at the bar the night we went.5/27/2013 12:00:00 AMfantastic!Great food. My wife and I shared one price fixe meal and added a couple of appetizers to make a great lunch.fusion southern, Scandinavian, and asian. Who knew?5/27/2013 12:00:00 AMBest grits by farGreat food, great service (chicken&waffle starter was amazing and the portion size was appropriate as I was afraid I wouldn't have room for my catfish main, but I did). My only wish is that we had got there earlier as by 2300 the restaurant bit was beginning to clear out, but the bar was busy and downstairs sounded like a lot of fun (but we were so full we couldn't think about clubbing it). The late reservation was our fault as it was a last minute call as we love the food here, but if you aim for 2100 like we did last time it would be even more amazing. Really good beer selection.5/25/2013 12:00:00 AMexcellent foodComing to Red Rooster was the first experience we had on our trip to NY and I cant wait to go back. The food was amazing and the music playing was excellent. Very cool vibe and the owner was there and shook hands and was signing his latest book for patrons5/24/2013 12:00:00 AMThe menu is creative. TheThe menu is creative. The food is well preoared. The chef combines special ingredients that make the food very tasty.5/24/2013 12:00:00 AMTruly The BestI am a bit of a food snob so to write an "excellent" food review about the Red Rooster is something I have rarely done. The food, the service, the ambience was fabulous. Try the salmon. It melts in your mouth. The entire experience was truly the best. While in New York you must go.5/23/2013 12:00:00 AMdeliciousWe had a wonderful lunch after graduation ceremony at Columbia. The food was fresh and delicious and the ambiance great. Best cornbread I ever ate! The staff were fun, helpful and welcoming. The ambiance very cool. Unfortunately our daughter (the graduate) is vegetarian so not a lot of choice for her, but otherwise a really enjoyable experience.5/23/2013 12:00:00 AMMarcus Samuelson is THE MAN!After reading "Yes Chef" and hearing radio interviews with Mr. Samuelson, the Red Rooster emerged as one of the reasons we wanted to travel to New York from the S.F. Bay Area. We were not disappointed. The vibe, the food, the service all wonderful. Having Swedish roots myself, I had to try the meatballs. The menu is a great reflection of Mr. Samuelson's personal history. Nice California Zin too.5/22/2013 12:00:00 AMCan't Wait To Go BackRed Rooster was within walking distance of my hotel which was a great plus. Food and service was top notch. Ambiance/decor was wonderful. Food had distinctive and delicious flavor. Discussed our food choices with people sitting next to us. Overall a wonderful dining experience. Will absolutely return when I am in New York again.5/21/2013 12:00:00 AMWas not DisappointedI had the meatballs and cabbage. They were moist and very well-flavored. The ambience was lovely & the service was great. I was there for brunch & will definitely visit again on my next trip.5/20/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat Place... Decent FoodThe Red Rooster is great on so many levels, but the food left a bit to be desired. The service and ambiance were outstanding. The location (125/Lex) is legendary. The chef is a huge star. But the food was less than impressive. The deviled eggs were rich and creamy, but lacked a bit in flavor. The cornbread was a bit dense. The gingered carrot soup was ok. And the mac & greens were a bit dry. The only thing we ate that was 'off-the-charts' good was the cupcake at the end of the meal. Perhaps we were expecting too much because of the high profile of the celebrity chef. However, we've dined at many such restaurants and none were so disappointing in the food department. The Red Rooster is worth a visit, but the food is not great.5/17/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent !Red Rooster is a very good restaurant. Maybe a bit more of service should be advisable: waiters tend to be quick and careless. This is a pity although I understand that they have to rush ....Outstanding ambience ,specially in the evening.5/17/2013 12:00:00 AMExcited about eating @ Red RoosterThe food was DELISH!
Our wait person was new but very sweet & helpful.5/17/2013 12:00:00 AMExperience never ForgetI was eating when I felt a pad on my back and heard a man asking, "how is the food?. I turned and it was Marcus Samuelsson. I shook his hand and I just nodded. I was speechless.5/17/2013 12:00:00 AMI ordered fish and grits withI ordered fish and grits with shrimp and asparagus. The food was hot and spicy. The fish was fresh and well prepared. The chief did a wonderful job of preparing and presenting this dish. The waitress recommended the fish and grits dish and I was not disappointed. We found the service to be quick and the wait staff helpful and knowledgeable about the menu and willing to share the information on request. We had our meal outside, which was comfortable and clean. The indoor seating area was elegant with a warm décor. I recommend the Red Rooster Harlem without reservation.5/17/2013 12:00:00 AMDelicious and UniqueWith a unique twist on down home favorites the food hear is very satisfying. We met some wonderful characters from the neighborhood at the table next to us who made our entire experience just that much more enjoyable. Must try the daily small bites that are off the menu and change daily-what a unique treat! Flavors abounded in everything we tried- this is not your grandmother's boring home cooking!5/15/2013 12:00:00 AMbirthday lunch3 of us who share birthdays in May have dined here for the last 3 years. It gets better every year. Service was great as was the food. Wine by the glass was a disappointment: poor selection and pricey. As a matter of fact it was pricey even to have the prix fixe lunch for $25 by the time you add wine and coffee and tip expect to pay $55. But it's such a nice spot we will go again. The salmon was delicious as was the carrot cake and ginger carrot soup.5/15/2013 12:00:00 AMThe exciting combination ofThe exciting combination of tast and spice make this into a marvelous jouney!5/13/2013 12:00:00 AMAll about the ambianceWalking into The Red Rooster is like walking into a completely different world. The ambiance and crowd are magnetic. We loved the music and the musicians. The service was impeccably dressed and very friendly. The food was very good, but it was the character of the restaurant that made the evening worthwhile for us.5/13/2013 12:00:00 AMWonderful place!I had the best time. The staff was professionell and so nice and helpful, the food excellent and it was such an experience to see the mix of people visiting this place. The live music was amazing (jazz on the night I was there) and I left with a smile on my face that lasted for hours.
I highly recommend this place to anyone who likes people, music and good food.5/13/2013 12:00:00 AMWorth a trip uptownWe went on Monday night so we could hear the Jazz, and we loved everything about our experience. While the food is very rich, everything is excellent. We had a tough time choosing, the menu is that good. Very unique flavors in everything we tried - successfully adventurous - a tough thing to pull off, but they do. The service is impeccable from the Host/Hostess to the wait staff to the bus staff, and the ambiance is fabulous - a very positive vibe the minute you walk in. Overall, an amazing experience. Oh, and don't skip the shrimp grits or dessert, especially the homemade gelato and sorbet. Divine. I highly recommend the restaurant. We will definitely be going back.5/13/2013 12:00:00 AMGREAT dining experience!Every bite of every dish was foodie perfection -- my son & I shared fried green tomato app, then he had the yardbird & I had catfish. We also shared sweet potato donuts for dessert. All dished were well presented & tasted incredibly delicious! Our waiter Michael was super attentive, yet unobtrusive. The jazz band playing in the bar was also excellent. We'd love to go back next time we're in NYC & recommend RED ROOSTER highly!5/12/2013 12:00:00 AM
