  • "This is a place I always come to whenever I'm in NY. The athmosphere is great from the decor, to the Bar with live music and a good place to just watch people. The good is good, the service OK, the only thing is it's a little bit too noisy. I would certainly recomend it!"

  • "I took my boyfriend here for his birthday on a tuesday night and the place was PACKED. We had missed our reservations but thankfully we were seated within 20 minutes. We sat at a small table in the corner and we had a perfect view of the entire dining area, the kitchen, and the bar. We even saw Marcus Samuelsson! There was a live band that night so the noise level was pretty high but we really enjoyed the music so we didn't mind. We ordered the red rooster sangria and aged rib eye dinner for two. AMAZING. The only thing I will say is we only saw the waitress that took our order once, several other different servers gave us our food and checked in on us, so we really don't know who the tip we left went to. Overall, amazing experience!"

  • "Foods always good, but I ended up sitting at the bar for happy hour this time. Cocktails were lovely, but the "happy hour" wine is the same price as it regularly is so there's no deal there. The bartenders and servers mean well, but have a ways to go in terms of providing the prompt, polished service an establishment like this should have. I've had this experience repeatedly, whether dining or just drinking. I love you, Red Rooster, but please train your FOH staff more thoroughly."

  • "Had an amazing time celebrating my BFF bday today. The staff were attentive to details and service was great. The food was very tasteful and plentiful. After dinner, went to the bar for drinks and had a great time with the bartenders especially kamal. He worked the bar very well and did great drinks. I will definitely return since the food, customer service and vibe of the restaurant was great."

  • "First time here, after it was recommended by a friend. We loved the place, had a reservation in the back, but stayed at the bar (we normally like dinning at the bar area instead of sitting down by a table)). The bar area is great, friendly, vibrant, cool and relaxing. We loved the interior design of the bar! The bartenders, Patrick and Dion, did a fantastic job. We started with Grandpa’s Gravlax and the Chile Rubbed Lamb Tostadas…..excellent taste and portions for both….then we went for the 30oz!!!! Dry Aged Ribeye (for 2 p)……its was fantastic. We left with huge smiles and had a perfect evening! We will be back for both the bar, food and friendly bartenders "

  • "My husband is from the South, so I thought this would be a fun place to celebrate his birthday. He loves comfort food and the menu looked really interesting. When we arrived on a Friday night, the scene was vibrant and patrons appeared to be having a very good time. There was a mix-up with our table, but after a short wait the hostess gave us the next available private table (request this if you don't want communal) and the restaurant brought over some complimentary appetizers. The food and cocktails were excellent. We particularly loved the ceviche and the watermelon salad. Best part was the service - our waiter, Ryan, was outstanding. He took great care of us, knew the menu well, and was passionate about his recommendations."

  • "It was first time for all diners at our table (6), and we were all pleased. The food was delectable, the portions were worth the price, the service was on point and the staff was excited to explain the menu items. We had no complaints and talked about it for the next few days. I grew up in Harlem and have since moved away so it was a great homecoming. I had the chicken and waffles as an appetizer and it was large enough to be a meal, but I didn't stop there. I then enjoyed the Shrimp and Grits and I tell you - I have had shrimp and grits before but those tasted as if a kid made them in comparison to the Excellence of this dish. Great Restaurant, don't go to Harlem and pass it by, Stop, Eat, Live and Love."

Staff is gracious, friendly, but I appreciate that no one hovers over the table. I'm personally trying to work my way through the entire menu, so I have many more visits to come! This is a terrific addition to the neighborhood and to the city! Love the ambience."

  • "We had a RRH tasting menu at an event recently, and couldn't believe how fantastic the food was. We read some reviews that complained about long wait times even with reservations, so we decided to make an 8pm reservation assuming we'd get seated at 8:15 or 8:30. We arrived about 5 minutes early, and were told it would be about 20 minutes. It was a full hour before we were seated, and then the server didn't come to take our order for about 12 minutes. Even though we were starving at this point, the food was surprisingly just not that great. The courses were paced well, but at the end, we had to wait 20 more minutes to get the check. The live music was WAY too loud. We both have good hearing, but literally had to yell to hear each other."

  • "We had a great time at Red Rooster. We thought the star of the night was the Swedish Cloud dessert. I don't recall eating anything so delicious in a very long time. However, we were not exactly blown away by the main course (blackened catfish & Mrs HP's spicy chicken). We thought both dishes were on the drier end and, since we were looking for a unique dining experience, we were slightly disappointed. We loved the watermelon and oyster&wings appetizers though. The restaurant has a unique vibe and was completely full and alive. The one-hour latino music intermezzo around 9-10pm made it little difficult to talk but we had already had enough good wine not to care about that too much."

The person who drived dropped us off at the restaurant because we were late due to traffic and the hostess would not seat us until he got back from the lot so we had to stand in the crowded bar area and it was very uncomfortable."

  • "I live downtown and never make the trek up to Harlem, but the trip is worth is for the Red Rooster! Fun and vibrant bar scene and the food is spectacular. Had the deviled eggs, cornbread, grilled peach salad, oxtail pasta, and swedish meatballs. All were phenomenal. Only disappointment was that I didn't save room for dessert. Will have to make a special trip next time to try a few of those."

  • "This was my second time eating here. The first time I enjoyed the newness of mac & cheese with greens mixed together. Which I enjoyed again this time. However, there use to be a double pork chop on the menu, which was delicious! They replaced it with an over-seasoned single chop, served with a sauerkraut (which to my taste was not edible) and a few chips. Three of us ordered the same meal, one person totally could not eat it and returned the entire plate to the kitchen. The other person, like myself muddled through the pork chop only and left the rest. Very disappointing! On the upside, the wine, cornbread, and appetizer chicken wings were good. Mr. Samuelson, please return the double pork chop with a "few" spices to the menu!"

  • " We made a 9:30pm reservation, but when we arrived hostess said they were cramped tonight and didn't know when we would be seated. (What good is a reservation then?) At 9:45, we had still not be seated, and we were getting quite angry, but the hostess did a nice job of making the situation better by comping glasses of prosecco. When we were finally shown to out table after 10:10, it was a true dining experience. To start we had the corn bread, and kimchee lobster rolls. For our mains we had the chicken and waffle and the oxtail pappardelle and for dessert we shared the sweet potato donuts. Everything was absolutely out of this world, and completely worth the wait. We especially recommend the Harlem Shake Cocktail to top off the night!"

  • "We had a very fun evening. We decided to start with the cornbread. Probably an unusual choice but we really liked it and we planned to have a drink or two before ordering dinner. We ended up ordering the Fried Bird and The Meatballs both were outstanding. Although the menu mentions that the chicken is double fried it had a light coating that was very crisp and delicious. The Meatballs were the best i had ever had. Both dishes I believe came with mashed potatoes that were to die for and to top it all off we ordered a small side of lobster mac and cheese. I can't wait to go again."

  • "We had a delicious meal and enjoyed ourselves greatly. However, two things distracted from our meal. First, we ordered an appetizer that was never delivered. Second, we were dining at Red Rooster to celebrate a 30th birthday. I had called ahead and requested that a candle be put in my partner's dessert. That did not happen. I was pretty disappointed, particularly because the reservationist with whom I spoke told me that would happen and because I ordered desserts particularly for that reason."

  • "I dined here for the first time with my boyfriend and oldest friend. I had not seen my friend and broke bread in years and my boyfriend is the best thing that's happened to me until I ate here! The crowd was a beautiful harmony of races and cultural backgrounds. The food complimented the guests in its rich flavors and unique combinations. I enjoyed the laid back but attentive service. Though a bit pricey, I will be a repeat guest."

  • "We arrived for a 7:00 reservation and weren't seated 'til 7:30. It was very noisy and incredibly hot. The hostess was nice and brought us a complimentary glass of wine but once we were seated my husband asked for a glass of beer twice from 2 different waiters and never received it. The waitstaff seemed distracted and overworked. The food was good but not great. Certainly not worthy of the praise it has received nor the cost. We wouldn't return."

  • "Not knowing what to expect, except a great time and great food, RRH did not disappoint! Our Order taker Sara was very gracious as were the full staff from check-in to servers to Mgmt to .... the air-conditioning was not fully functional, but the best of it was made. The ONLY request I would make from the experience is to have at least one 'vegan' friendly/available entree. We made it up as we went along, which showed flexibility and accommodation in and of itself."

  • "This is a cool place - décor is hip, but homey, drinks are good, food is good and wait staff is very professional. Our server was very competent, but brusque and I felt rushed through dinner. We shared the prawn and papaya to start and it was absolutely delicious. I had the jerk pork chop choucroute and while the chop looked burned, it was actually delicious (perhaps verging on dry) but I was underwhelmed with the sides. A little plunk of sauerkraut and another little plunk of some leafy green with sliced apples on top. My daughter had the Aleppo chicken with kale and it was delicious though. I make better cornbread at home...I think my expectations were a little high, but overall we had a good experience and I would try it again."
