Red Rocks Cafe - CharlotteWonderful outdoor diningWe met some friends we haven't seen for years and had a wonderful evening. We were seated on the patio and the ambiance was exceptional. Good wine and appetizers. Most food choices (salmon, seafood pasta) were very, very good . I chose the night special, a pork porterhouse, which was well seasoned but over and a tad tough. Dessert, a vanilla bean torte, made up for it. This is definitely a
place I'd go again.6/14/2013 12:00:00 AMWorked well dining with children!Celebrated a birthday here with a party of seven, three of whom were young children. One of the pluses of dining at Red Rocks is that it has good food on its children's menu ... 2 of the kids got salmon, and loved it. Server Justin was friendly and attentive, and allowed the kids to substitute mac-n-cheese for the usual side items. I tried the chopped salad for the first time, which was very good with the cherry vinaigrette dressing, and loved my filet medallions as well.6/14/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent food, Chliean SeaExcellent food, Chliean Sea Bass was the best I have ever had6/10/2013 12:00:00 AMFavorite Neighborhood RestaurantRed Rocks has been a neighborhood favorite for many years. We love the variety on the menu and the personable staff. Outside patio is extremely pleasant in spring and fall and desserts are to die for. Wine list is also great and it is a wonderful place to go with family, book club, or other groups - call ahead when you can. Best tip: I used opentable.com to make Sunday lunch reservations and even though they were slammed when we arrived, they had a table set and ready for us!6/9/2013 12:00:00 AMtrombonemomThe menu selection and ambience are a constant so I didn't hesitate to contact Red Rocks for our son's high school graduation luncheon. I was confident all guests would be well fed and would have several meals to choose from. We usually attend all the buffets offered for special holidays and enjoy each one. We are so appreciative of the wonderful service we always get at Red Rocks and especially at any of the holidays.6/8/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat nightSix of us dined at Red Rocks before going to a play at CPCC. We were seated promptly at our reservation time. We enjoyed cocktails before ordering, followed by a delicious dinner. The featured salmon was enjoyed by two of us; lemon chicken, meatloaf, lobster ravioli, and shrimp pasta rounded out our orders. The food was all wonderful and we were members of the "clean plate club". Our only negative was the waiter's inability to present the correct bills. It took him three tries before we got the three bills with correct items. Not sure if he was new or what, but other than that he was a good waiter and he did apologize profusely.6/8/2013 12:00:00 AMGood Experience!I haven't eaten at Red Rocks in perhaps fifteen years and was happy to see that it was busy and thriving! Our waitress was fantastic; sorry I didn't get her name. Her recommendations were very helpful. She really seemed to know the menu items well. I opted for the sea bass and it was delicious. It was on a bed or risotto with asparagus. I am so glad I didn't order a salad because I definitely wouldn't have been able to finish my wonderful entree. My friends ordered sandwiches and they liked them but it looked like too much bread for my taste. I had a good experience and will definitely be going back very soon!6/6/2013 12:00:00 AMThis is an oldie by goodie.Red Rocks has been around for quite some time. They have a huge menu. The food is well prepared and the service is good. I liked that they called ahead of time to verify the reservation and ask if we wanted indoor or outdoor seating.6/1/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat food all aroundShe Crab soup was wonderful. All-around good food for our party. Very reasonable prices for quality food. Would definitely go aback.5/31/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat as usual ....It was our first time eating outside on the front patio, the perfect night to do so. My portabella mushroom melt arrived piping hot and was its usual excellent mix of flavors and textures. The sweet potato fries were wonderful by themselves, but our server recommended pairing honey mustard dressing with them ... a winning combination. My husband's chicken entree was generously portioned and delicious, and the steamed vegetable side dish was cooked perfectly without being overseasoned. Loved the moscato wine and she-crab soup as well. Server Brian and his "team" on the patio stayed busy but calm and creative as they dealt with a full area of all ages and several unusual requests from those seated around us.5/24/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat place!Red Rocks never disappoints! Food is always good and our waiter was terrific!5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMOne of THE Best...!Great, great, great dining experience...! I've been to both locations in the Charlotte area and tremendously enjoyed myself. It is a "must go" for anyone who enjoys fine dining...!5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMIt has been betterWe went on Mother's Day, so this was a busier day/night for the restaurant. I ordered Chet Snow's salmon and it was good. However, it was better on a previous visit. My green beans were partially cold. Service was okay. I would return and I'd recommend this restaurant.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMMother's Day Brunch very PlesantThe only way to go on Mother's Day is with a reservation and so I did book through the "Open Table" which popped open from Red Rocks website, the process was quick and easy followed by a confirmation sent to my email address. The Mother's Day Brunch Buffet was very good, food was at the proper temp. and was being refill frequently so it was also fresh. The server, Ann Marie helped my 86 yr old mother so I could get my meal. I would go again and again.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat for special occasionWe took my parents there for their anniversary and they loved it. The service and food were both wonderful5/6/2013 12:00:00 AMMy date and I had a greatMy date and I had a great time before prom. It was both our first time there and we both enjoyed the food and service was great. Nothing I could really complain about because it was all perfect.4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMWonderful, robust menu makesWonderful, robust menu makes this a favorite. Quality of food/preparation is consistently very good.4/12/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat find.Took my largest client here when in town for a trade show. It was a slow drive from the convention center ( about 7 miles) but certainly proved worth the drive. Wait staff was superb, not pushy but there when needed. Food all the way around the table was very good to excellent. Prices in line with location and area. All agreed that tis was a winner!!4/8/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food was excellent. GreatThe food was excellent. Great local place to eat. Our waiter struggled a little bit but all in all was very impressive.4/7/2013 12:00:00 AMThis was a nice find. NeverThis was a nice find. Never been to Red Rocks Café. I was disappointed in the pricing on the food items. The quality of the food was fantastic.
Will come again, but when I can afford too again.4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMKeep your Eyes Open!FOOD EXCELLENT. DINED 3 TIMES-SERVICE IS GENERALLY EXCELLENT..ATMOSPHERE IS WONDERFUL. Had A SMALL AND DISTURBING INCIDENT THIS LAST VISIT. WERE CHARGED FOR 2 EXTRA MEALS AND HAD WE NOT LOOKED AT THE BILL CAREFULLY WE WOULD HAVE PAID $40 FOR FOOD THAT WE DIDN'T ORDER in fact we were billed for another tables food! Our waiter was a bit awkward in presentation. He offered unnecessary information about previous staff being fired for not being forth coming information regdg the pricing on the specials menue. We brought the billing mistake to his attention his response was. "I make mistakes" he said they often enter tbl #'s incorrectly causing billing mistakes. We did not feel it was a mistake or his regret. no compensation offered.4/1/2013 12:00:00 AMRockin' Red RocksThis restaurant is one of our favorites. We eat out nightly and we always find our way back to Red Rocks, Strawberry Hill. The wait staff is knowledgeable, warm and friendly. We are always greeted with respect and seated promptly. The menu is superior and the atmosphere agrees with us.3/31/2013 12:00:00 AMI came all the way up fromI came all the way up from Spartanburg, SC in order to celebrate Easter with my family at the Red Rocks. Prior to moving to SC, I had lived in Charlotte for over 30 years. And so therefore, I am very familiar with the fine service offered at the Red Rocks! Also, YES I would recommend this fine restaurant to all my friends (even those who have to travel quite a distance to get there!). I do plan to make plans to celebrate Mother's Day at your fine establishment!!!3/31/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat BrunchEaster Brunch was wonderful! Great food, service, and so much fun!! We eat here for most of our special occasions. Love it!3/31/2013 12:00:00 AMWe ate at Red Rocks for theWe ate at Red Rocks for the Easter Buffet. Having been to the restaurant on a seperate occasion and enjoying the regular menu, we were disappointed with the buffet. The side dishes were very good but the Ham was a complete heartbreak and the Prime Rib was average at best. Although the dessert selection wasn't bad, we found the flavors to all be blah. We tried 7 different dessert items. Just not what I expected. The service and atmosphere were amazing. We will go back for the regular menu but not for a holiday buffet.3/31/2013 12:00:00 AMVery good food - just a bit cold.Very very good. Service was okay. Waitress was very quiet. Food tasted great, but several items cold - like the green beans, the eggs. Maybe plates should have been in a warmer. We were so hoping you would have a Belgian waffle station or an omlett station. Only thing else we missed was bread.
Thanks.3/31/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent holiday buffet...willExcellent holiday buffet...will be back for the next one!3/31/2013 12:00:00 AMWe had an excellent diningWe had an excellent dining experience. The menu is so robust and seemingly, all selections are of the highest quality. Most of us ordered seafood and all entrees were exquisite!3/30/2013 12:00:00 AMFirst timer. This was my first time, but will not be my last. Very good food.3/16/2013 12:00:00 AMMy go-to placeYou know how it is on a Friday night when you just want to sigh and relax and let the past week melt behind you? And you want to go somewhere that will feed your body and your spirit and usher you into the weekend? That is Red Rocks for me. I can always find something wonderful to eat on their extensive menu and I can count on friendly service every time I go. They go the extra mile to make sure you have a great experience. And now that the weather is warming up, one of the things I'm most excited about is eating outdoors on the patio there. There may be fancier, more expensive restaurants in Charlotte, but in my opinion, there is none better!3/15/2013 12:00:00 AM
