Red Pony Restaurant50th Anniversary CelebrationWe chose Red Pony as the spot to celebrate our 50th wedding anniversary and it was a perfect choice. Excellent quality menu - many appealing and different items. Fine food presentation. Fun atmosphere.6/15/2013 12:00:00 AMgreat innovative menu, superb servservice. noise level was much higher than we anticipated and wanted. not good for a conversation dinner. the specialty drinks are interesting, but not very strong with alcohol.6/15/2013 12:00:00 AMHappy Father's DayJosh was excellent waiter. He described each dish to perfection. Wonderful personality and outstanding service. The food was delicious. Loved the tempura sushi 30 clove soup. Kale Caesar sald. White salmon.6/15/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat ExperienceMy wife and I went here for a date and enjoyed the entire experience. We sat upstairs where it is a little quieter. Great service and great food.6/14/2013 12:00:00 AMGood Meal, Great StaffMy wife and I were at the pony for the first time for our birthday dinner. As we both have a birthday in the same week we usually go out to a nice place to celebration. The staff was very attentive, from confirming our reservation in the afternoon to asking if we wanted one last drink on the patio.6/14/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat service, staff, and food. While Red Pony is a little noisy and not intimate, the service was outstanding and the food delicious. The waiter was very knowledgeable and friendly. I love that the food is local and fresh. Will definitely recommend and return.6/14/2013 12:00:00 AMA terrific evening!Everything about our evening at Red Pony was superb. We sat upstairs (highly recommended) by the window, and enjoyed every moment and every bite. We had both seafood and beef at our table, and there was nothing left on any plate. The salads, too, were spectacular. Can't speak for the dessert; we were too full!6/13/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat food and service. OverallGreat food and service. Overall good ambiance but a little to noisy for romantic dinner.6/11/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat location for a romanticGreat location for a romantic evening or anniversary .6/8/2013 12:00:00 AMFabulous FoodBecause we are hoping to throw a party at McConnell House in Franklin and the Red Pony is the catering partner for that venue, we planned dinner at the Red Pony to check out the quality of the food rather than the Red Pony ambiance, but we thoroughly enjoyed both. Our party of six received impeccable service and fabulous food. Our table mates ordered the shrimp and grits and tenderloin while we ordered the elk and BLT (Bacon, Lobster & Tomato). Every dish was tasty and beautiful. Suffice it to say, the Red Pony passed the catering test with flying colors. We'll be moving forward with our party at McConnell House fully confident that the food will be memorable.6/7/2013 12:00:00 AMJust worth it!Took our family for a special occasion and it exceeded expectations for everyone. We could hear each other talk and didn't feel like we were sitting with the next table (seated upstairs). The food was not only delicious but very special - hard to find in a city full of chain restaurants. We were treated well and the service went above and beyond to see that we were happy. We will definitely be back.6/6/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat Food and Great ServiceFood was excellent. I had the cowboy ribeye and my wife had the BLT pasta dish. Best steak I've had in Nashville - perfectly prepared and seasoned. You won't need sides with the steak because it comes with potatoes and sautéed mushrooms. BLT is a tasty dish but a smaller portion - order sides with it. The asparagus was great and the garlic cheese grits won't disappoint. We will definitely be back. Ben, our server, took excellent care of us.6/6/2013 12:00:00 AMOur Favorite RestaurantSince the first time my wife and I had dinner at Red Pony, It has been our favorite restaurant. The service has never been less than excellent, the food is always sublime, and the decor and ambience is to our liking. Admittedly, it is a little pricey, but the experience is well worth it. We have been to the restaurant several times, and each time reminds us why it is our favorite place to dine. We just celebrated our anniversary there and they couldn't have made it better.6/1/2013 12:00:00 AMAwesome!Another great meal at the Pony! Have yet to be disappointed. This is a place you must try!6/1/2013 12:00:00 AMDisappointedI usually love Red Pony, but was very disappointed in my food this time. The ambience is great, the service is good, but my food was not up to par. I ordered the slow roasted BBQ steak and it was tough and fatty without infused flavor. This restaurant has alot going for it, just not this dish.6/1/2013 12:00:00 AMVIPThey made us feel like VIP's. Service excellent. Chef generous with samples. Dishes prepared with excellent ingredients. Definitely worth the cost and return visits. We left with satisfied appetites!5/30/2013 12:00:00 AMGood food and service. The sushi rolls have been on the menu since Day 1 & are still great; the new item, Kale Caesar, is great as well. Fish entrees are very good. Filet is always good. Great service.5/29/2013 12:00:00 AMService makes all the difference2nd time here and the service was just average. The first time, I had a waiter that was all over it. The food is still excellent. The ambiance is exceptional upstairs, but only adequate downstairs.5/24/2013 12:00:00 AMRed Pony RocksEverything was awesome, I will be back, I want to try many other dishes as they all look great.5/21/2013 12:00:00 AMOne of our favorite meals everThe food was superb. We got the free gnocchi for first-time diners and it was incredible. The bread sampler was great and our shrimp and grits almost perfect (too much bacon, surprisingly). Best restaurant we have tried in the Nashville area.5/21/2013 12:00:00 AMGourmet Southern CookingImagine an executive chef, decided to take southern-style cooking, fresh, local ingredients, and dynamic flavors, put it in a 100+ year old brick-wood structure, shake up some signature, unique ingredient martini menu. Oh, and they WANT you to love their restaurant, and have an exceptional experience, that is evident. Not very many "misses" here...expect a memorable evening/dinner/experience...in a small town setting. Parking is NOT good...but what you'd expect in a small town square retail area.5/20/2013 12:00:00 AMFood was wonderful. SinceFood was wonderful. Since it was our first visit, the chef sent out a couple of little tasting plates for us between courses. Had the B.LT. which is a Red Pony staple item, Bacon Tomato and Lobster over ravioli and it was excellent. My husband had the halibut which actually comes with beets to our surprise but they were delicious and he ate them all!5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMI picked this restaurant afterI picked this restaurant after reading great reviews & it's proximity to the theatre in Franklin. It's a little on the pricey side, but well worth it. The food is spectacular & the service was above expectation. When our waiter found out we had a show to get to later, he made sure that he knew what time it started so that we wouldn't be late.
Because of the price (my meal was around $40 including tip) I would probably reserve it for special occasions, but will definitely go again.
Also, I tried the coconut cake for dessert. It was probably the best coconut cake I've ever had.....and it was gluten free!5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMMyNewFavoriteI had only stopped in for drinks before but I now know I have been missing out! The food was delicious! It was a great dinner, atmosphere, service. Definitely my new favorite spot!5/17/2013 12:00:00 AMWonderfulWe loved the decor. The food selection was outside of the box. Wonderful salads and bread basket. My husband ordered the elk and asked the chef to "spice it up" for him, which he did with peppercorns.....he loved it. I had the lamb chops, which were wonderful as well. They not only have a great wine list, but offer quite a few in pony bottles which is great for us because we don't like the same wines. We had the coconut cake for dessert and it was spectacular. Roland was a great waiter, we were very well taken care of. We will be back.5/10/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellentI was recommended this restaurant by a friend who said the ribeye was the best steak he had ever had. I booked a reservation and it was delightful from beginning to end. The service was perfect, our waiter was very knowledgeable and helpful, offering lots of off-menu options. The drink menu was extensive. We got the special $5 martinis they were offering that night and they were great.
Everything we ate was delicious - deviled eggs, halibut, and desserts were all incredible. The only downside is they overcooked my steak quite a bit. I asked for medium rare and it came out medium well. That doesn't bother me as much as it would some people, but I was still put off a little. Everything else was great, though.5/8/2013 12:00:00 AMA Franklin Go-To spot!Saturday evening, Convention in town + big birthday bash going on = VERY busy place and a bit of a wait (even with a reservation). It was worth every minute of wait and had a meal that probably blew away every meal out we've had in the past several years. Personally, Southern style shrimp and grits is one of my all time favorites and theirs was way beyond special ! We'll definitely be back when we're in the area.5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat Celebration!Took my wife to the Red Pony for the 1st time to celebrate her birthday. I've been there with business groups on several occasions. As usual, the food was great... and the service even better.4/30/2013 12:00:00 AMIt was Irony...That we dined on Tuesday, for on the night that we dined, we enjoyed half off wine. Our waiter Paul was first rate! Not sure if the restaurant allows service request, but if they do I would request every time that we dined. One note...when my son ordered a beer, Paul asked for ID. He assured my son that he cards anyone he believed to be younger than himself. Strange. He never carded me.4/30/2013 12:00:00 AMWe had a fantastic experienceWe had a fantastic experience this weekend. The food was great, the service was excellent, the atmosphere was superb. The guacamole was awesome, but the bacon jam was even better! We were a large group (13 people), but the service was impeccable and all the food was delivered in a timely fashion and prepared exactly as ordered. Will definitely be going back soon.4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMWe've been twice now and can'tWe've been twice now and can't wait to go back again!4/26/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat find!Wonderful food and top notch service. We drove out from Nashville based on the Open Table review and it was well worth it.
A little loud & tables are really close together so not sure it would be fit for romance. If ever in Nashville again will visit again.4/25/2013 12:00:00 AMEnergetic, hip and delicious! We live in Franklin and have loved every experience we have had at Red Pony! My husband I love to sit at the bar and have cocktails and the tempura sushi roll. We always bring out of town friends to the Red Pony to show off downtown Franklin and enjoy the energetic hip ambiance of Red Pony.4/19/2013 12:00:00 AMeverything about our experienceeverything about our experience was best of class. from the staff, to the cocktails, and all of the food was amazing.
just told two people yesterday - THE BEST SHRIMP N GRITS EVER !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
WILL BE BACK SOON.4/16/2013 12:00:00 AMRed Pony has great food. TheRed Pony has great food. The shrimp and grits is the best thing on the menu...very rich though!
I have eaten here several times and the only slight complaint would be that the service is a little "uppity". I have had the exact same server the past 3 visits and she has not been the greatest. I will say that this last time with just my husband and I she was a little nicer but the previous two visits with a group, she was not as helpful. She seemed bothered by actually "serving". That being said the good is awesome, the menu is eclectic an the atmosphere is great so I will go back. Just hoping to get a different server next time!4/15/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat Food, Great day!We were visiting our daughter who just moved to Nashville and wanted to spend the day in Franklin. What a beautiful city. We had a wonderful dinner at the Red Pony! We enjoyed 2 appetizers: sushi and hummus with pita bread. Both were excellent. I had beef tenderloin. It was cooked perfect. My daughter had the elk tenderloin and it was also cooked perfect. My son had the special dinner of the night which was lobster ravioli. He loved it. But all of us tried my husbands meal which was fish and grits and agreed it was the best. The pecan pie with bourbon ice cream was to die for. We all had a great time and the chef should be commended for excellent food. We highly recommend the Red Pony!4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food delicious, the waitess,The food delicious, the waitess, Ariel, fantastic and the General Manager, Crosby, superub....love this resturant4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMLovely spot, great food, niceLovely spot, great food, nice service and right in the middle of downtown Franklin. We'll be back4/5/2013 12:00:00 AMI took my wife here for aI took my wife here for a date night and it was perfect. Not too fancy and snobbish just real and food was great too. Staff were great and knew there stuff about food. Definitely will recommend to friends and return for for another evening.4/5/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat place! This was ourGreat place! This was our first time going here and the food was excellent. We hada party of five and everyone enjoyed thier food and the atmosphere.4/5/2013 12:00:00 AMBest Wine List EverI was blown away with the wine list and bar menu. Hats off to the person that put that together. The chardonnay line up is class A with Cakebread, Grgich, Rambaurer, and Shafer which are some of the best. My favorite cab producer was there and responsibly priced, Trefethen. The cocktail menu was inventive but also represented the classics. I would go back just to drink and have apps. The guacamole, pizza, and charcuterie were all very good. Our server was James and he was terrific. We had a large group of 9 with 5 kids. A nightmare for any server. He was very professional and met our needs perfectly. I would recommend him highly.4/3/2013 12:00:00 AMGREAT!Couldnt have asked for a better experience from beginning to end. only thing id correct as soon as possible is if youre going to have a menu change. i'd correct that before taking an item off the menu and it still be there. Ala fried chicken. of course the person i happen to be with desires it (lucky us) then has to spend ten more minutes trying to fig it out. outside of that, everything was perfect.4/2/2013 12:00:00 AMAn absolute mustI dined at The Red Pony twice during my recent visit to the Nashville area. On both occasions I had a thoroughly good experience and would highly recommend this restaurant. The atmosphere is friendly, service impeccable, food fresh and tasty, good wine list and some great cocktails as well. Anyone who lives anywhere near this place, or any visitor should make this a must-do activity!!4/2/2013 12:00:00 AMRoland is great! This isRoland is great! This is one of my absolute favorite local restaurants! Every dish is delish!!!!4/1/2013 12:00:00 AMAwesome experience at Red PonyWe had an absolutely wonderful dining experience at the Red Pony, preceding a fabulous live performance at the Franklin Theatre down the block. Everything clicked here, from the moment we arrived until we departed. We started by splitting their fabulous guacamole, a very nice portion, served on fresh lettuce in a black lava bowl with homemade tortilla chips. Delicious! Then we split a grilled romaine salad topped with bacon jam and bleu cheese -- truly one of nicest blends of flavors. Lastly we split a wonderful red snapper preparation with a root vegetables "pancake" that was off-the-charts. The bar delivers very nice drinks, reasonably priced, but they also have a plentiful wine list as well. The various dishes were promptly delivered.3/30/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat food consistently. SpecialsGreat food consistently. Specials are always different and very tasty!3/29/2013 12:00:00 AMRD from OC CANo element disappointed. Excellent cocktails, apps, salads, entrees, desserts & coffee. If we lived in the Nashville area Red Pony would be a regular stop.3/29/2013 12:00:00 AMSimply Put, The Very Best!It doesn't get any better than the Red Pony! We don't dine there frequently as we live about 30 minutes away! When we make the drive, we always agree, it simply is the best gourmet dining in the Nashville area. The food is always creative and succulent. To me, this is a New York restaurant tucked into the quiet charm of Franklin! Parking can be an adventure, but this night, we found a space easily.
The other part of the equation is the service. Attention, EveryonE, Service is not dead, but alive and well at The Red Pony. Ben was our server and when the restaurant did not have the coffee drink our overseas guest requested, he went to Starbucks and brought it back! Ben went over the top for us and it was not over missed !3/27/2013 12:00:00 AMEverything was outstanding.Everything was outstanding. Our waiter was extremely knowledgeable and his recommendations were great!3/25/2013 12:00:00 AMFantastic, dynamic menu. StapleFantastic, dynamic menu. Staple dishes are excellent and the off-menu items are amazing. Lamb, if you can get it, is the best I have ever had. The Clint Eastwood is my favorite cocktail and if you love Bourbon do yourself a favor and get two.3/23/2013 12:00:00 AM
