  • "Needed a place for lunch near Liberty Bell. Reservation kept, service good, food nice.Perfect for the occasion."

  • "I took my team to the Red Owl Tavern to celebrate a promotion. The group included people with very diverse dietary needs. Everyone was 100/% happy wish their orders. Oh, the service provided by McKenzie was stellar! Thank you. I'll be back."

  • "We loved it the space and really enjoyed the food and energy. Service was meh. We paid $90 for brunch for 2 so we were not on a budget - I think charging $4 for 2 pieces of dry toast (no butter, no jam) is just embarrassing. Tax and tip make two prices of bread come to $5.25. Why ruin a great meal being tacky by charging fro 2 pieces of bread which should come with an omelet any way Just left us with a bad taste."

  • "We've been to the Red Owl Tavern three times and the food is always good. However, we've noticed that they are slowly decreasing the size of the portions but not the prices. Must be geared for a younger crowd because the seats are not comfortable so you don't really want to sit and chat."

  • "A great place to dine if you are in the Philly historic district! Near Independence Hall"

  • "Red owl tavern is fun! We were there for brunch. Choices were interestingly varied. I think anyone could find something to enjoy. The food was quite good, and the drinks were also good. Location is perfect for old city, historic district. We would surely return and recommend to others."

  • "We were there for brunch and while the service was pleasant , eggs came to the table cold and waffles without syrup , to his credit , the manager did correct the problems and helped with the service himself . Pleasant enough place , could have just been a lot of new people started working there that day ."

  • "Full disclosure; I work for kimpton, so I may have somewhat of a warm fuzzy for other kimpton properties. That said, I had a phenomenal meal at the Red Owl Tavern while visiting Philly. Lovely view of the Independence hall across the street. Cozy dark ambience, very cool industrial look. Cocktail list inventive while remaining tasty. Good classic American food served with a nice upscale twist. Impeccable service, thanks Eric!"

  • "Went for a brunch with daughter, her fiancé and future mother in law, sister in law. Liked that this place has an elevator because one member had reason not to climb stairs, and with dining one floor above street level, and bathroom one floor below street level, she needed the elevator.. Food was good, nothing spectacular, but the service was attentive and willing to make adjustments and accommodate special requests."

  • "We had an early lunch on a weekday so the noise level was low, but probably much louder at happy hour and beyond. Relaxed atmosphere, nice menu, -- not extensive but something for most everyone. We both had the fish and chips which was very good. Hostess and waitress were both very accommodating and helpful with suggestions. Location is caddy corner from Independence Hall, one of the most iconic places in all of the United States and in the heart of Center City cultural and social activities. Would definitely recommend."

  • "Good food and great service - very kid friendly and is just steps away from Liberty Hall - they have excellent root beer on tap!"

  • "We picked this restaurant for the location and curb appeal. Menu just ok, limited variety. Not kid friendly, more geared toward 20s crowd. Expensive glass of wine for very small portion. Would not recommend."

  • "Great time at the Red Owl for brunch, expansive menu as well!"

  • "We have selected this restaurant to meet with my son and and his family to celebrate our grandson's birthday Saturday Noon. We are all out of town.We were sitted upstairs - restaurant was extremely noisy - couldn't have a conversation at all. Food was very nicely named on the menu, but it was mediocre. Portions were very small and overpriced. I couldn't believe that restaurant would charge $15 for a hotdog!!!! It was called Kobe. Soda drinks served in the small glasses with lots of ice and we were not offered a refil! I do not believe that we would visit this restaurant again."

  • "On the second floor, there are booths, you can see the first floor and be entertained by looking at its bar scene. The food is really satisfying, the service very professionnal. Once you come, you think of coming back."

  • "I was pleasantly surprised at the good food and service here. Not your typical hotel bar/resturant. This has a warm setting, nice selection of food and attentive service."

  • "I have been to Red Owl twice for brunch. While the food is good, the service is not the greatest. Friendly wait staff but they're either overworked or really forgetful. It will take a few requests to get what you want. It took a couple requests and frequent reminders for OJ and champagne and my salad was missing chicken but they did remember to put the dressing on the side. As long as you have all day to sit around then the slow service shouldn't be a problem."

  • "Great place everything ordered was fresh. The burger my friend had was delicous my dish vegetable gnocchi was homemade. Then the desserts chocolate mousse with sea salt and carmel was homemade the cheesecake was not the normal slice of cheesecake. A little pricey for the mind set of a tavern but well worth it. Will return soon."

  • "My partner and I went here (it was our very first time in Philly and this place came up as one of the great brunch spots in Philly) and had a wonderful experience. We went for Brunch and were not disappointed. The food was pretty good (although the breakfast potatoes needed a little work) and the service was impeccable. The waitress was fantastic and even the manager was great as he went around to each table and greeted everyone and asked them how everything was. The restaurant offers bottomless "build your own" bellini's for brunch for just $16 a person (they bring you bottles of champagne and you go make your own bellini!). AND this place is located right near all of Philly's historic sites and has great views! Must go!"

  • "We stayed at the Hotel Monaco for a quick local get away and decided on a convenient dinner location by eating there. On a friday night, the restaurant was not crowded but the bar was active. Our server was pretty good and knew his drinks. Mussels in a tomato sauce to start; mussel shells on top were cold. Like the mussels were cooked and then the hot tomato broth poured over top. I had seared sea scallops. The two purees were bland and boring but bacon mushroom ravigote was tasty. Scallops cooked right but half were sandy. My wife had seared bronzino filet. She said it was good but not special. Dessert was very good. Recommend chocolate mousse and the bread pudding. need better quality at same pricing to stay competitive in old city."

  • "My wife and I were staying at the Monaco and deceided to try out the Red Owl Tavern for dinner. To say that we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves would be an understatement. The host was extremely welcoming and immediately seated us in one of his "favorite spots" in the upper level of the restaurant. Our server (Lenny) was by our side almost as soon as we sat down, and in minutes we had our drinks and our appetizer. The service here is excellent, and the food and drinks are just as good! The ambiance is that of a deconstructed rustic loft with exposed brick, wrought iron, and hand-scrapped hard wood all throughout. Definitely a Philadelphia gem that we will return to often!"

  • "Reserved a table for two for my boyfriend at I at Red Owl Tavern and we had a wonderful time!! It was a perfect way to end our day from touring the historic parts of Old City, because the restaurant is steps from Independence Hall. We got to the restaurant about 2 hours before our time because we were tired of walking and the restaurant was more than happy to accommodate. -Hummus and htipiti dip with lavish chips for appetizer -Boyfriend ordered the creekston farm hanger steak (he ate every last bite!) -I ordered the loch fine salmon (cooked to perfection) The only thing I did not like was how fast our waiter took our plates away, I felt a little rushed, perhaps because it wasn't very busy when we were there. Overall, a gem of Old City! :)"

  • "Always a solid choice for a great lunch with clients. Service is outstanding and the Calamari and Crabcake are outstanding. The newest addition of the corn and crab fritters are a must have."

  • "Overall, it ok but not as great as when it opened. I used to go frequently, then stopped because service was slipping. Went back today and reminded me why I took of list as a "favorite". The servers are very friendly, but this time solidified my perception that on the whole they are not as attentive as they could be. I have never been the fan of the server who tries to remember the whole order without writing it down. It frustrates me more when they have to come back multiple times because they forgot what was ordered. it's even worse when the order STILL comes out incomplete. I don't think it was the kitchen at all. I experienced these things during this visit. Food prepared well, served very promptly, bus-staff/runners great."

  • "I expected a pretty standard, bar-type experience with average food. I was very pleasantly surprised to walk into a great ambiance, atmosphere, and more shocked and how incredible the food was! One of the best steaks I've had."

  • "We had 6 of us for our son's birthday Friday night. We requested seating upstairs, which was a little more quiet and a little more private. His wife has many food allergies and they had no problem adjusting her meal accordingly. The service was great, our server (Justin?, Jason?-sorry) was very attentive and very nice. The menu, although not huge, had a little bit of everything and out of all of the food we ordered, everything was delish!! We will definitely be visiting The Red Owl again!"

  • "The food was very good. Our server was very friendly and knowledgeable. The food was served hot. We had brunch and your menu selections satisfied all in our party. I enjoyed my bacon and eggs and the rest in my party enjoyed their hamburgers and french fries. Great place to go...."

  • "I was excited to try Red Owl. It was my friend's 35th birthday and 4 of us went had dinner there to celebrate. The salads had brown lettuce and the entrees were not properly cooked and overly sauced. The food was heavy and average-tasting. While I loved the decor, I will not be dining there again."

  • "My person picked this spot during Restaurant Week. I was a little apprehensive after reading some reviews on Yelp & it being connected to a hotel. I felt better after receiving my drink, "careful...Eugene," as it was delicious and my person filthy martini was on point. We started with fried calamari, which was nicely battered & accompanied by 2 dipping sauces. My BBQ pork ribs were very tender and flavorful. My persons skirt steak was very garlicky (not a problem) and cooked to her specifications (medium). For dessert, we opted for the white chocolate macadamia gelato that was fantastic! After my reservations, I was pleasantly surprised and will difinitely be back to experiment with more cocktails, which our waiter said were changed weekly."
