  • "This past Sunday was another home run dining experience at Red O. Although I usually come for dinner, the Sunday brunch offers a nice menu from which to order, plenty of brunch beverage choices - both traditional & Mexican inspired, a Spanish guitarist, and the beautiful décor which looks equally good in the day as it does at night. Our server, Ronald, was welcoming, appreciative of return customers and helpful with menu selections. My corn cakes with goat cheese, bacon and eggs was truly satisfying. My dining partners were happy with the picada de carnitas & huevos a la Mexicana. Chips & salsa were brought the table with refills aplenty; chips were beautifully warmed and crisp. This is Mexican food/dining at its finest."

The service was good and the food was good, but nothing extraordinary. I did like my halibut. But I'm not sure I'd bother going back. Nice margarita list."

  • "Just wonderful food and setting... everything is about 4 to 5 dollars over what it should cost... but that is what you get when you have a Rick Bayless name attached to a Red Onion venture.... 30 bucks for 2 HOUSE Margarita's..... (we had two... so 60 bucks).. was as much as our meal. Still, really good food and nice place to eat."

  • "Absolutely fantastic sauces and spins on Mexican dishes! Although Open Table misaligned our meal by allowing us to list it at 3 pm on a Sunday when the restaurant kitchen would, in fact, be closing, Red O reached out, contacted us and agreed to change our meal time to 2 pm so we could have an enjoyable birthday event for my wife. To me, this was indicative of the proactive and highly attentive customer service that we enjoyed during our visit."

  • "These guys do the simple stuff, better. Their guacamole is just tastier. The acid, the heat, the salt, it's just brighter and tastier than the normal guac ANY-where else. Their salsas? Are preposterously tasty. Again, it says something about a place that puts that much care into... what one can argue are simply "condiments." The main fare matches this level of attention. Sauces, meats, beans, rice, all just a notch better than what you're used to getting. Fresher, punchier. Food's great and reliable."

  • "The bartenders were fantastic! The Margaritas superb!! Housemade lime juice- Fresh! The margaritas are shaken to make sure the lime juice and tequila blend. The Maitre D' was wonderful and offered us a booth,even though there was just two of us. The waiter was great. The manager was really friendly. Actually , everyone was friendly."

  • "While the service was excellent, it wasn't enough to make up for the terrible food. The ingredients were very bland and didn't seem fresh (critical to good Mexican food). I would say one could have a similar experience at Chevys. Monterey Jack Cheese is definitely a marker for bad Mexican. This place might be great for anywhere else in the US, but definitely doesn't work here in LA."

  • "We were two couples with an eleven year old girl and they treated her like a princess (caramel corn included). Because the music inside can be daunting, we moved twice but the service people were champs about it. Our server and wait people were terrific; prompt with every request. On the outside patio you are still dealing with street noise, but that fades into the background. Food was indeed very good. Very generous with the lamb, cochinita pibil was tasty (although this is not a version with much sauce). We're snobs about our guacamole and tasted two (regular and walnut); both okay. Overall, a really nice experience. Wouldn't put it anywhere near Frontera, Bayless's stellar restaurant in Chicago, but we had a good time."

  • "We had 8:30 reservations and were seated no more than 15 minutes after we arrived. The restaurant is lovely & we also liked the live music from 2 guitarists. We loved the chic atmosphere! I ordered a Skinny Margarita which was yummy. We had 2 appetizers: Ceviche & the duck taquitos. The Ceviche came with plantain chips. I ordered the Little Gem salad. I joked that they should rename it the Big Gem salad. I shared it with my son & husband. For main courses I had the Halibut. My husband had the Mole Chicken & my son had the Mole Lamb. The portions are generous! We all loved our dishes but we had no room for dessert. The service was outstanding & even though it was pricey we felt the meal was worth it."

  • "I ordered the enchiladas Suizas and left most of the food in the plate. The rice was dry and burnt, the beans tasteless and the enchiladas had an unpleasant vinegary flavor; they should be a bit on the sweet side...So bad the experience, we decided not to bother with desert. I have eaten there many times in the past 3-4 years and had always been happy with my food. Not sure I will be going back any time soon."

  • "Atmosphere was very relaxing for Father Day! Nice guitarist playing live in the background and the food was amazing. The appetizers were exceptional and unlimited tequila sunrises are highly recommended! I would have liked our water to be filled more often as we were only asked once by the time we already paid the check. I also sat outside on a chair place on a loose tile outside, so when anyone walked by and stepped on the tile my chair moved also. I will definitely be back."

The ambience is absolutely gorgeous (the pictures don't even do it justice!), with high ceilings, elegant drapery, and candles that create a fun, sexy feel. I felt like I was at a Mexican resort restaurant! The cocktails were TO DIE FOR, and the food was incredible as well. We ordered the guacamole sampler, and they gave us extras of our favorite for no reason! Also, because we were celebrating a birthday, the gave us complimentary churros that were out of this world. All in all, the food, service, and ambiance were too good to be true. To top it all off, someone from the restaurant called me the next day to see how my experience was. In a word: perfect!!!"

  • "The food was excellent but equally as important (and rare to find in LA) the service was perfection. From the moment you walk in you are greeted with a level of enthusiasm that makes you feel incredible. The manager will come and check on you and Michael our server was amazing. Michael made great suggestions, was very knowledgeable and chose the perfect tequila for dinner and dessert. I will definitely return."

  • "My wife and I have been fans of Rick's cooking skills for years and this is the first time we have been lucky enough to eat at one of his restaurants. I had the best $44 rib eye steak I have ever had the pleasure of savoring in my life. I don't know what kind of creamy read seasoning was layered over this exquisite piece of meat but with every taste I was in steak heaven. I also loved the small cut potatoes and artichoke under the steak. I recommend ordering the rice with plantain slices on the side. It goes well with the steak. Loved the warm chips and the limoada was amazing. 5 star experience."

  • "Very pleasantdining experience . I had a wonderful server named Tara. I had an assortment of appetizers since I was dining alone. Topolo Margaritas are the best . Fresh ingredients and salsa and tomatia salsa was very good . had the flight of different Guacamoles. Also had the Queso Fundito's . Very consistent with Frontira grill and Topolabampo in Chicago. What I don't get is why the california people don't get it with Rick Bayless menu andcooking. FAr better than any other Mexican restaurant in LA. "
