The food overall was outstanding and unique. We especially enjoyed the tartare and the crab courses.
I would not recommend the lamb shoulder course. It had a taste similar to corned beef and was accompanied by sour flavors that were not to our liking. Better to swap it out for one of the other items on the menu.
The dessert was among the best I've ever had.

The drinks are pretty pricy, so pace yourself while sipping.6/8/2013 12:00:00 AMcreative fusionmany "creative" restaurants get so caught up in being creative, they forget about how it tastes. not red medicine, as creative as it comes yet absolutely delicious. the Brussel sprouts are maybe the best in LA, also the chicken dumplings, which are more like meatballs in lettuce wraps, are first class. the pricing of items is a little weird. some entre and so called large format seem excessive, like $66 for 11 oz of scallops. thats $100 a lb. too much. the place is noisy, but that seems the norm these days.

The "Vietnamese" part should just be jettisoned all together even though there are caveats that come with that descriptor on the website. This is truly artful adventurous food with a strong Asian influence. Example: The trout roe which is listed on the tasting menu, but not on the regular menu and yet still available a la carte is presented as if it were a beautiful floral arrangement in largish glass shell. This dish is so good it made me giggle on taking the first bite. Everything else we had was equally inventive, artful, and tasty. I have added Red Med to my A list that includes Bazaar, Rivera and a few others. Worthy & wonderful. Fresh anise for garnish, amazing combinations of spices and herbs I've never heard of, delicately and elaboratly plated selections. The plating was so beautiful, my dining partner thought it was a ceneterpiece for the table.

4. I do not mind a set gratuity on large parties..in fact I think it is fair for the wait staff.but 20% on top of tax is pushing it
