Angeleno Magazine's Best New Chef, Jordan Kahn, prepares modern, local cuisine inspired by Vietnamese flavors. Plates vary in size from small snacks to large format proteins, and the entire menu is designed to be shared amongst the table. The wine list is focused on Riesling, with other whites and… reds coming primarily from French or California producers that share an elegant, restrained style. The cocktail list is seasonal and changes frequently. There is a bar menu which is served at the bar and lounge until 2am, nightly. Continued

"hmmm don't believe the hype. I was not impressed. Beautiful plates but food does not have to be fancy just has to be good. We had the fois gras was not good and over powered by some kind of buttery whip, egg rolls which we not special, lamb, and sea bass. Sea bass was pretty good. Overall it was ok but not a place a would go back to"

"Great spot for foodies to check out. Great food and drink flavor combinations. Cool atmosphere in the restaurant and bar.
Unfortunately, I found the portions of the "hot and cold" plates too large (this excludes "large format" items which are supposed to be big). The style of food is more of a tasting menu. I wanted to be able to taste more,smaller plates but was full after sharing 4 items between 2. The menu portions are set up more to have ! appetizer and a main but the food style didn't lend itself to that. I would rate it higher if i had experienced a better balance overall of dishes."

"We celebrated my birthday with another couple when visiting them in LA. It was a birthday meal I won't forget. The food was stunning visually and it gave our taste buds some new sensations which were all amazing. The restaurant was very busy, but we never felt rushed and we had excellent service. The foods here are just about to the same level as Noma in Copenhagen which is one of the best restaurants we have ever been to. However, the bill was extremely reasonable, so I feel the restaurant gives an excellent value for the money. Don't disregard the porridge. We got it with uni, and it was delicious. The seafood and beef dishes we had were stunning, and the black carrots were fantastic as was the green plum dessert!! One word: YUM!"

"Red Medicine has an interesting menu - Vietnamese-inspired dishes, but unlike most Vietnamese food you've ever had.
The wait staff is super-attentive. Food is served "tapas style," which appears to be the current trend in newer restaurants that want you to spend a lot.
We enjoyed the brussels sprouts, even though they were a tad salty. The chicken dumplings were creatively plated and quite flavorful. The lamb was also delicious, but we found the swiss chard to be again, a little too salty. And the pork shoulder was delectable.
Word of warning - the beef brisket is about $80, so you should only order it if you have a large table to share 2 lbs of meat."

"Excellent creative food did not disappoint...Nice service. Wine list was excessively expensive with only 2 wines in the $40 price range which given the excellent inexpensive wines available is inexcusable. Not all foodies want to spend $75-$150 on a bottle of wine."
