Red Maple - BaltimoreNot bad for a Night ClubAfter attending a concert in Baltimore, this was one of only a few late night options available for dinner. After reading a number of reviews, both good and bad, decided to take a chance. Also, we like tapas. Ordered five items and were very pleased with all but one (lobster mac and cheese, cheese over powered the lobster). Lamb burgers and duck wraps were great. Service was attentive and efficient. Seating not uncomfortable if you don't lean over and try to eat from what are more like coffee tables vs. dinner tables. Pick up the plate and eat as you would at a stand up party. Late night its a dance club and quite interesting for 60 somethings like us. The husband and I got there when it opened and ended up having amazing tapas. The gnocchi with brussel sprouts in sage butter was so good we ordered two, the pumpkin dumplings in cardamom cream made me want to lick the plate, and the lemon creme brulee was creamy and tart with the right amount of sweetness. The vibe and music were right, but the benches that we sat on were a little uncomfortable. The backs were loose, so you couldn't lean back confidently. I would return for sure, as that was the only downside to a beautiful evening. The atmosphere was very relaxing and nicely decorated. Cozy couches, fireplace and friendly customer service. They also was doing free makeovers and photo shoots...how great is that ! ;-) The Dj was playing a great mixture of music. Overall very nice upscale place. Oh..did I mention the drinks were awesome ! Our server Erin made our engagement the special occasion we wanted it to be. The only odd thing was the banquette seats against the wall. They were very uncomfortable and awkward.
