  • "I love the food here but the service was a little slow on this occasion."

  • "Chicken rice bowl!!! The food is awesome!!!! Hot rock was good but it stuck to the rock really bad and was hard to eat but it tasted great!! Had a special chicken and green bean dish that I would order every time I go there and it went well with the rice. We went the week before And had the chicken lettuce wraps which were very good. Lettuce was crisp and the sauces they have are yummy and not too salty like some Asian places. Also had the tuna tempura. Some pieces tasted so wonderful and others were fishy which I hated. It is one of the best Asian places for food And the music is the bomb."

  • "I've been to the Lantern a half dozen times now and I've never been disappointed...neither have my guests - love this place for drinks, food and fun...sexy fun!!!"

  • "We waited 20 minutes even with a reservation, and when they finally sat us it was at this makeshift coffee like table, maybe 2 and a half feet off the ground, we couldn't even put our feet under it. We squeezed on to a couch because the chairs they gave us were hard and flat, unlike all the nice cushioned chairs that surrounded us. Our waitress was unfriendly and inattentive. We all order sushi and she didn't bring soy sauce, even after we asked, (a runner finally brought it.) The only time she smiled was when we asked for the check. Easily my worst dining experience in Boston yet. The sushi was average, but the decor is great. Everyone else seemed to be having a great time, maybe we just caught them on a bad night."

  • "We all got different things on the menu and no one was disappointed. Big servings, excellent flavors, and fun drinks (flaming shots anyone?). Big open restaurant, fun lounge area by bar, and great bar seating by cooks (separate from regular bar). Make a reservation though!"

  • "As always our visit to Red Lantern was phenomenal ! Our server was personable and attentive even on a busy Saturday night. Food was outstanding. Highly suggest any noodle dish, you won't be disappointed and will have plenty to take home or share. Only complaint is always the size of the cocktails for the price, but it's Boston."

  • "White red lantern doesn't reinvent the wheel, the space is lovely and the food was good-pretty straightforward dining, but we did like everything we ordered. I wish they had a few more cheaper bottles of wine but what can you do. We liked the place, but did not love. I wouldn't go out of my way to go there again but if someone recommended it for a night out I wouldn't veto. Did go mid-week so might be louder on the weekend, but was fine for us."

  • "Anile(I think this is how you spell her name) the Brazilian server was amazing! Helpful with the menu and specials list and then the dessert menu. Everything she said was perfect and the pineapple bread pudding was the best bread pudding I have ever tried and I would not have ordered it had it not been for her. 10 out of 10 for service."

  • "Big restaurant space with many large tables to accommodate big groups. Clearly a popular destination on Saturday night. Good Asian food and interesting drinks."

  • "like the title says, we had 2 hrs for dinner (6-7:30pm, as we had an call with Asia starting at 8) figured it would be early enough not to cause an issue), and I stated that after they called to confirm my reservation. Couldn't find my open table reservation and took 15-20 mins to seat us despite numerous open tables (figure out the reservation stuff after we've been seated). Then, as I said, service was fine, just quite slow. Had to run ahead of the team to get back to the office to start the call. Def not the place to go for dinner on a weeknight if you're in a hurry. Though I thought 90 minutes and a heads up about would have sufficed."

  • "We went for all-you-can-eat sushi on Tuesday. Food was excellent, as were the cocktails (Elisha(sp?) is an incredible bartender--got my gimlet right which is not the easiest of tasks.) Our one gripe was that our server took a long time to come over in between our "rounds" so we weren't able to get the food as fast as we would like. Great value for Red Lantern, as all the other dishes are extremely pricey."

  • "Our experience at Red Lantern was pretty mediocre. The food was very good, but it took way too long for the food to actually come out to us. We waited about an hour for the entrees to come out and the waitress who was serving us did not bother to check in with us."
    Dined on 3/16/2014
  • "We had a great experience at Red Lantern! Our server was wonderful. Tuna tartar and steak noodles were our favorites!"
    Dined on 3/14/2014
  • "Very disappointing food! Dishes were oversauced and others flavorless. 2 dishes came cold and it almost felt like food was pre cooked and then reheated! Nothing seemed fresh!"

  • "The pro's: We had a reservation and were seated immediately, the waitress was friendly and very helpful for the first half of the meal. They have a good selection, creative drinks, and a gluten-free menu. The con's: The waitress disappeared as soon as our food arrived (she may have been overextended), and then an arrogant and clearly annoyed manager stopped by to ask if we wanted to see a dessert menu, acting as if the task of interacting with us was beneath him. There was no sincerity, not even a smile, and then he disappeared and we were left waiting for our check for nearly 20 minutes."

  • "The food was basically tasteless and overpriced. Sorry to day I wouldn't go back."

  • "Nice bar. Some standout dishes. Duck Buns are so good, I will be going back for them. The boneless spareribs were delicious as well."

  • "Everything abut the Red Lantern was fabulous ... from the ease of making a reservation at Open Table to receiving our check in a timely manner at the end of our evening. Okay ... so the music seems loud. But miraculously we were able to carry on a conversation without the need to shout. Food ... Fabulous! Drinks ... Fabulous! Service from seating to leaving ... Fabulous! We will definitely dine at the Red Lantern again."

  • "Service and food were really good!! If you're coming here to dine on a Thursday, Friday or Saturday I'd definitely recommend reservations."

  • "We had a 6PM reservation for four and wanted to have a drink in the bar area first. Twice different hostesses came to us to see if we were ready to go to our table after telling them we will let them know when we finish our drinks. They seem to be more interested in turning over tables and caring if we were enjoying ourselves. Do not think they will see me again."

  • "Everything from friendly, attentive service, to excellent menu, preparation and execution. It was all good! Can't wait to go back."

  • "i took my father here to celebrate his birthday and we had an unreal time. we had three different starters: the rock shrimp (always a knock out) the beef and chicken on a stick (fantastic) and the peking ravioli (a must have). the service was fantastic, and the food was even better. we followed the starters with a chicken lo mien and then followed that with a vegetarian friend rice. everything was literally fantastic. the food couldn't have been better and the service was right in stride. i would more than recommend Red Lantern to anyone looking, for a place to celebrate a special occasion or just have a great night out."

  • "4 of us went for dinner-in town visiting.Red Lantern was recommended by friends who are residents. Fantastic Sushi.Lo Mein and Eggplant special were both- great. Very generous portions and so 2 sushi and 2 dishes were more than enough for 4 Very appealing decor made a huge room interesting-noisy and busy -informed and friendly wait staff-we loved it!"

  • "Besides the great food and excellent wait staff, one of the best parts of this restaurant is the unique atmosphere! Very cool old brick building - warehouse vibe mixed with Asian decor. We went on a quieter night with our family, but can see this place having a hopping bar scene (bar area huge). Planning coming back with friends!"

  • "I bought my family in for a Sunday belated Valentine's Day dinner. The food selection was vast, the appearance of Red Lantern was impressive, and the serving size of the food coincide with its price. Other staff made myself and my family feel welcomed. We will return to try more of the menu."

  • "We were very glad to get out after several snow storms. This place was a welcome change, with lots of energy. We had the duck buns and Shrimp Shu Mai to start. The tastes were just amazing and flavorful. Then we had the Ronin Roll and red dragon sushi for the meal. Everything was very fresh and complex flavors that are surprising and satisfying. As a valentine special all of the females received a red rose as we got seated. This restaurant is great for groups and seems like a great way to enjoy this venue. A little loud but very fun."

  • "First time here. Had 2 adults, 3 older teenagers, celebrating a birthday and all eager for sushi. Atmosphere is striking with deep reds, statues, lanterns, etc. Very vibrant. Were seated shortly after our reservation time. Round table for 5 was large, almost too much so. Seemed far away from the person next to you. Loud techno / club music made conversation tough, and is not typical of sushi restaurants. The lobster rangoon app was great, as was calamari. Got the Grand Dragon boat, which is chef's surprise sushi, to feed 4-6 people. There was a lot of sushi here. All fantastic and well presented. Overall a very good experience, but most appeal to the hip fashionable crowd."

  • "We liked the ambiance at the bar and later enjoyed our dinner as well."

  • "We particularly enjoyed the duck bun appetizers. In fact, we would have been happy to have 3-4 servings as a full meal. For main courses, the miso sea bass was very good; the tik tok chicken was an enormous serving of breaded, fried, boneless chicken pieces in a spicy, sweet and sour, highly ginger-laden sauce. The serving was easily enough for dinner and lunch the next day. The principal negative feature was the noisy music, especially the annoyingly resounding bass. Made it hard to have a conversation."

  • "Overall the food is good, but it is very americanized asian cuisine, so don't go in hoping for a real authentic experience. The creative sushi options are tasty. The dining room is big and open. However the decor leaves a lot to be desired (lots of cheesy buddhas and fake red lanterns cover every crevice of the restaurant.) Service good but nothing special. Overall a fun place to hang and grab unique sushi, but nothing is super special here."

  • "Our sushi and noodles were top notch. Would highly recommend starting with the Lobster Rangoon. Vibrant atmosphere and if you are a foodie would recommend asking for seats at the kitchen counter to watch the chefs in action. Service was attentive but did not find it beyond good with no offer to explain dishes on menu or suggestions on house specialties."

  • "This was my second time dining here. The place is a nice hot spot for 20 and 30 year olds. The place is on the expensive side. It cost me ~$85 with one drink. Everything was great except the $28 Mongolian beef dish. It was horrible and I should have asked for my money back. How the waiter did not ask after seeing almost none of it touched and not asking for it to be wrapped is beyond me. The cut of meat was awful and the mountain of parsnip it came with was ridiculous. Kind of made me not want to return to the place."
