Diner Reviews
  • "We made dinner reservations for 6:30 and arrived a little early. They wished us a happy anniversary and seated us right away. While they always seem to be busy, the service was awesome and our waiter was focused on each of customers course timing so that they fired at just the right time to be served at a perfect pace. The menu is always wonderful and the courses we chose were excellent. This was our third time there and as foodies it is in our top ten. We highly recommend the Red House as a MUST! We had a wonderful evening, thank you!"

  • "The Red House has friendly, knowledgable staff, gluten-free options, an extensive selection of wines and beers, and a wide variety of appetizers and entrees. I've been here four times and have yet to have a bad experience. The flourless chocolate torte is a good way to end the meal...and if you're looking for mac and cheese, theirs is great."

  • "Great location and better than average food for a lunch-time business affair."

  • "We ordered steamed clams, polenta fries, lasagna & salmon salad - all fresh and tasty (the clam broth had a nice bite) and the portions were generous. Our server was a delightful young lady who helped us select a wonderful Malbec. I wish I lived closer to Renton. The Red House is definitely a great addition to the neighborhood!"

  • "This was my first visit to Red House and it will definitely NOT be my last. The beer and wine selection was amazing, the food was great! And the service was wonderful. Can't wait to go back."

  • "We were in the area and was searching for something to eat when we came across Red House. The menu had a variety of tapas-style dishes as well as more substantial entrees. The food was good but fell short of excellent which left us feeling it was a little over-priced. The service we received was excellent and the ambience is eclectic (it is basically a converted house). They have a great wine list and a good outdoor seating area (although the view leaves a lot to be desired). This would be a great spot for drinks and tapas after work or before a night out."

  • "This restaurant is our go-to place. Large selection of wine and beer, can eat light or hearty, but always good. The building is an old house converted to a restaurant which gives it charm but the noise can be a little deafening depending on where you are seated and since they are often busy it is hard to get away from it. Something to work on."

  • "I've eaten at the Red House on numerous occasions and every time was a great experience. The food, service and setting met and continue to meet my expectations."

  • "I took my fiancé here for his birthday. We walked in and were impressed by the delicious smells, incredible wine selection, and the charming, chatty atmosphere. However, we were taken upstairs and put into an empty room the size of a bedroom. The sunlight was bright and the speaker was off, making it quiet with the fun chatter muffled in the background. Luckily, another group was placed in our room not too long later, and we were all able to make conversation and enjoy our meal. We had the macaroni and cheese with crab meat and it was amazing! We also enjoyed different brews and are excited about returning in the summer to eat on the patio! We'd recommend to anyone, but maybe they should turn the speaker up in that room."

  • "Found Red House through Yelp with great reviews, and the menu looked great, so we booked our special birthday dinner here for 3 adults. I love wine, and thought the menu would suit the other two in our crew. Red House was Spectacular! We all ended up ordering different things and sharing because each thing was and so tasty. Not to mention the incredible dessert we had after. As other reviewers have said-- the polenta fries are awesome! We started there, and I'm happy we did. The atmosphere was relaxed and fun. We had the most outstanding service as well. I really can not say enough about this place. I will definitely be back, and I've already told friends its a must go."

  • "When my friends want to get together for an evening of good conversation, affordable wine and outstanding food, the Red House is always at the top of our list. This little gem also sells beer and wine at retail prices, not restaurant prices, and charges a corkage fee for wine served at your table. Their mac and cheese is my favorite. I love to order it with the smoked salmon addition. Call several days ahead for reservations as this is a popular restaurant and the restaurant is small. Incidentally a huge plus is the ample parking in a safe neighborhood."

  • "This is one of our favorite places. We had the crab cakes and polenta fries for appetizers, the Halibut special for dinner and the Apple crisp with ice cream for dessert. We were in the "wine room" on the first floor, which is nice and quiet. All things were great as always!"

  • "This restaurant was one of the best we've ever been to. We tried it for the first time after receiving a gift certificate from a friend, and have since fallen in love. The food is incredible and the service is second to none. Red House boasts 800 different wines and 600 different beers. THe servers provide excellent suggestions for wine and beer pairings with the food."

  • "I've been to the Red House on numerous occasions, and the food and service are always excellent. I like that the menu changes seasonally and exciting specials. Their wine list is extensive as well, (they also have port and craft beers). This is one of my favorite restaurants. I love all the little dining rooms scattered throughout the building."

  • "We had a great lunch at the Red House. We tried several items from the Tapas menu - the shrimp risotto croquettes and crab cakes were standouts - and had nice bottle of dry Riesling from their huge selection of regional wines. The service was prompt and friendly, the atmosphere was cheerful and relaxed and the food was expertly prepared. Well worth a visit! But plan ahead and make reservations. It was busy!"

  • "The Red House is a neighborhood gem in Renton. It has foodie-level cusine and outstanding wines and beers, all served in friendly efficiency. The salads are crisp and lightly dressed, the appetizers are sizable, gluten-free options (bread and pasta) are possible. The chocolate torte is heavenly and almost melts in your mouth. I've been here three times now and find the place a delight."

  • "This is a great little find. It is set in an old house and it quite casual. No frills in the decor unless you like to look at wine bottles. The wait staff was friendly and helpful. Food was outstanding. We had the pate and the duck, both of which were wonderful. We will definitely return."

  • "Really impressed with the lamb shanks, manchego-ham on rustica and steak frites. Paella little too earlthy. Love the fact you can pick out beer from an AMAZING collection - and it is cooled in 5 minutes for a refreshing drink. Fan - again and again; and love the ambience - simple but classy. Did I mention the exotic wines too?!"

  • "Red House is a favorite. We always get Chris the waiter and he's really good at remembering our favorite bottles. He's also keen to make suggestions for food pairing and new labels we haven't tried. The space is roomy, even though it feels busy with people and wine bottles lining the wall, just ask for a recommendation if you want to purchase a bottle. On our last visit, we used Open Table to make the reservation and we made a few special requests in the reservation that were accommodated without question. The macaroni is a guilty pleasure, but the Moroccan chicken, when it's in season, is also up for contention for best item on the menu. We also enjoy coming during the summer when the weather is warm and the al fresca dining is open."

  • "I've been to Red House twice lately, once for dinner and once for lunch. I like the wine and food menus. Enjoyed the grilled tuna sandwich tho would've preferred that it had been cooked medium rare as the menu described. Very nice side salad with a lovely house vinaigrette. Service was friendly and fast. Just wish the place had been a little warmer on these chilly days -- had to wear my coat both times."

  • "The wife and I come here for all our special occasions. We have never had a bad experience, and we love the food and ambiance."

  • "The menu selection was abundant and the quality of the food exceptional. What really made this a pleasant dining experience was the wine selection. If one was not able to find a wine of your liking listed on the wine menu, you could simply select a wine from the wine racks and pay a modest corkage fee. A great way to add to an exceptional meal that was offered at a reasonable price. Would definitely go again."

  • "The internal decor/ ambiance is quaint, eclectic, and romantic. The house layout makes for pockets of private seating. The server that we had was absolutely the best server we have ever had. She was a genuinely sweet and easy-going person. She was quick and made excellent suggestions as well as let us try some different types of wine before we committed to which bottle we wanted. We had the artisanal cheese plate, which was beautifully presented and beyond delectable. We discovered, at the waitresses' suggestion, our new favorite wine. And finally, we each ordered entrees that were truly exquisite. I have never felt so good about paying for a meal out in my life. This is the new special occasion destination."

  • "The food was great and at a very reasonable price but the service was lacking, the waiter barely came to the table, he took priority of people around us maybe because of our young appearance. He only asked us once how we were doing and only while passing by to the table next to us. The rest of the staff was great. The paella was delicious, I will definitely be coming back to this place but maybe ask ro be placed in a different section."

  • "LOVE this cozy gem tucked in a neighborhood not far from the Landing so we often chose it for date night and a movie. Fresh, delicious, creative menu - every time we've been. The walls of wine bottles and ale room on the main floor and then individual table rooms upstairs create such a comfy atmosphere for couples or groups. Red House ... you're a keeper!!"

  • "First of all, it's a house! I thought it added to the experience. Although we made reservations, we still had to wait a little bit for a table to open up... but we had drinks in hand so everything was good. They have a seasonal menu in addition to their existing menu. I have to go back to try more dishes but the one I had was excellent- duck. The surf and turf was pretty good. They also have an excellent selection of hard ciders which I greatly appreciate."

  • "Went to Red House to celebrate a promotion, and as usual, the service was outstanding. She made us feel so welcome that it felt like we were dining with a friend. The food was also amazing - cod with crab mashed potatoes and stuffed chicken with polenta...both were fabulous! And the ol' classic: lasagne. Everyone agreed that it was our best meal there yet!"

  • "The food is always good but doubt if we will be going on a Friday night unless we have a private room. The noise level is over the top. Have you thought of putting in some sort of sound absorbing material to puffer the noise?"

  • "I found this place doing a search on google. The picutres on the site looked nice. When I arrived I was impressed with the atmosphere. The menu was good and the wine menu was even better My dinner was great, had the seafood pasta dish an appetizer. Both were fantastic. I would definitely recommend this to friends for a good date night place."
