Red Hat on the RiverRed Hat FindDoing some research we found this wonderful restaurant with great service and food. Can wait to go back to try another entrée.6/15/2013 12:00:00 AMtop notchabsolute rarity in service. Provided old line , almost white glove, service such as can no longer be found almost anywher. Expresed this view to KIM, the on duty captain.6/14/2013 12:00:00 AMexcellent food, excellentexcellent food, excellent location, our server Kere was very very good and knowledgeable
of the entire menu. would recommend to all friends6/12/2013 12:00:00 AMwonderful food & viewWe were a party of 3 and although they had predicited rain, the day tuned out beautiful. We were able to sit outside & enjoy the magnificent view. Not only do you see the Hudson River, but the Tappan Zee Bridge. It really was a wonderful way to spend an hour or two. When the check arrived our waitress overheard of telling one person in our party she didn't owe anything, it was our Birthday treat. When she brought the reciept she brought 3 yummy cookies & 3 pieces of chocolate. How nice was that? I would definitely reccomend this restaurant. All dishes were fabulous. We had swordfish, mussels & a lobster roll. We shared the crabcake appitizer & the mozzerelllo cheese. It was the perfect place to celebrate! Can't wait to go back.6/11/2013 12:00:00 AMRed Hat ReviewFood and service were great. The views that evening were spectacular. The prices were very reasonable for the quality of service and food.6/11/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat spot on the HudsonHad a great meal at Red Hat this week..with a business associate....fluke was outstanding, bread was warm and ambiance perfect, good pacing on the service. Red Hat is my new "go to" spot; cannot wait to go in summer and enjoy the rooftop bar.6/10/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat Sunday outing!Wonderful food, wait staff, view!
Dining experience was treat- heard friends say how lovely it was and now we know!!!6/9/2013 12:00:00 AMWe were limited to 11/2 hoursWe were limited to 11/2 hours dining time so we were unable to fully sample the menu, but we ordered lobster roll which was excellent. Wine served by the glass was also good. The wait staff met our schedule with good cheer and were most helpful. We want to go back and try their more serious culinary efforts. The location is terrific as al fresco dining is next to the Hudson and is probably the best facility any where in Westchester.
Paul Thomasset6/8/2013 12:00:00 AMfinally!!we have been going to the red hat bistro for about our past 7 anniversary dinners. we have never been able to sit outside or enjoy the roof top as it has rained every time! finally, this year we had a perfectly beautiful outcome to an earlier yucky day. it cleared up with perfect blue skies about 1 hr before our reservation. we had drinks on the roof and then dined on the patio. as usual, our dinner was outstanding, but the icing on the cake was being able to enjoy such a pretty view both from the roof top and the patio. we celebrated 26 yrs together this year so have had many anniversary dinners but we still keep coming back to red hat because it never disappoints!6/8/2013 12:00:00 AMMost Amazing Sunset at Red Hat!!I took my boyfriend to Red Hat for his birthday and this place was wonderful! The food was perfect and the service was superb. Everyone was very respectful and welcoming. The salmon was so tasty and I sincerely appreciated the consideration that they had to our allergies. After dinner, we stepped outside and enjoyed the most romantic sunset scene. I absolutely loved it!6/8/2013 12:00:00 AMBeautiful views right on the HudsonGreat place right on the Hudson with wonderful views. Great menu selections. The skirt steak with figs, blue cheese , candied nuts and salad is always a winner. Staff is very attentive. I have been there several times and I am never disappointed.6/6/2013 12:00:00 AMNice Experience OverallThere were 3 of us: we were all impressed with the overall look of the place and view. The hostess asked where we'd like to sit - she recommended upstairs - overlooked the lower dining area and beautiful view of the Hudson. Two of us had seafood, we both thought delicious; the third had quinoa burger which she said the burger itself was good, but too many toppings for her liking. We shared the buffalo mozzarella/golden beet salad (was small, but just enough for all of us to taste); we had key lime pie for dessert - delicious! Same for the Cosmo - one of best I had. Although a Tues night, the place was hopping -We were surprised to see a restaurant that busy early in the week. Waitress - Nice but place very busy, service was just OK.6/4/2013 12:00:00 AMLovelyBoy did we luck out with a comfortable June evening for outdoor dining. We had reservations, but outdoor seating, overlooking the Hudson, is first-come-first-served. Probably only because it was a Monday night we did not have to wait, and enjoyed a gorgeous dining experience. The sunset on the River stole the show, but the food was also really quite good. If you like French Bistro (a la Les Halles, for example), this menu is for you. We were not rushed by the staff at all, but when we stood up to take some photos with our iPhones, they cleared our drinks and water glasses. They were returned with a huge apology moments later, but I imagine these tables are in high demand. This seems like a winner in Westchester.6/3/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat place and beautifulGreat place and beautiful view by the Hudson River!6/2/2013 12:00:00 AMAmazing food and service.Amazing food and service. Sat outside for Sunday brunch. The patio is well shaded with umbrellos and the cool breeze off the river keeps the temperatures cool. We were not sure about going here for brunch with the "smart casual" dress code, but when I called to see how strick that was they said that nice shorts and sandels were fine. We felt very comfortable dressed for a hot day of sight seeing. The service was impecable, everyone was very attentive and helpful. The sweet potatoe and pecan salad was excellant along with the salmon burger. The prices were very reasonable too. I would HIGHLY recommend the Red Hat....did I mention you can see the NYC ski line from the patio....6/2/2013 12:00:00 AMFantastic! My wife and I have been here probably 7-8 times and love it. The service and food are outstanding, and the ambiance is wonderful as well. I recommend it to anyone.5/31/2013 12:00:00 AMRecommendedWhile my omelette was a miss, everything else we tried was outstanding. Red Hat is always a great place for great food and views. I highly recommend.5/27/2013 12:00:00 AMSecond time to this localeSecond time to this locale -- and we love it. Great wine selection and an atmosphere that couldn't be beat, all on a perfect Memorial Day.5/27/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat view, great foodEveryone knows of the great location and view, with outdoor seating in the summer. Steak frites was cooked perfectly to medium rare, but it was a little tough even for a hanger steak. Mixed greens salad was disappointing, was tossed in what seem like oil but lacked any flavor or seasoning. Dessert was fantastic... apple tatin was phenomenal. Would return just for that and a cup of coffee! Have a great time here!5/27/2013 12:00:00 AMGirls' Day OutMy 10-year-old daughter and I took the MetroNorth up from the City to have lunch at the Red Hat on Memorial Day. The commute was super easy as the restaurant is only steps from the station! The hostess seated us promptly, as per our reservation, and we were attended to well. We opted for outdoor seating, which did get a little noisy with the larger groups seated near us but, overall a fantastic experience! Our meals were tasty and we look forward to our next visit (next Saturday)!5/27/2013 12:00:00 AMLove the Red Hat!My husband and I stopped at Red Hat and it is our second time there. The food is amazing and the staff is great, Can't wait for the warm weather so we can sit out side and enjoy the Red Hat Cosmo - it's a must have!5/26/2013 12:00:00 AMNice placeGreat outdoor seating with a beautiful view of Hudson River. The ambiance is great too. Food and service were good.5/25/2013 12:00:00 AMLunch on the HudsonThis was my second visit to Red Hat on the River. The ambiance in the dining room is just right- quiet enough to have a conversation but busy enough to buzz. The menu choices are varied and up to date. My chicken paillard was delicious with just the right amount of a very tasy salad dressing on the greens. My companion loved her salad as well. The chocolate dessert was especially good and beautifully presented. Will definately return on a sunny day to enjoy the patio on the river.5/22/2013 12:00:00 AMWonderful ExperienceEverything about this restaurant was delightful! Steak Frittes was prepared perfectly. Service was great. And you can't beat the view.5/21/2013 12:00:00 AMDining on the HudsonIf you're looking for a wonderful view of the Hudson River and good food to boot, check out Red Hat on the River. You'll have a very enjoyable time and appreciate some of the beauty the Hudson Valley has to offer.5/20/2013 12:00:00 AMDelightedHad a very enjoyable dinner and look forward to returning!5/19/2013 12:00:00 AMAbsolutely extraodinary foodAbsolutely extraodinary food and service. It is a pleasure to come back to this restaurant every single time!5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMA Classy Well Run OperationThe Red Hat provides a feast for the senses. Consistently outstanding food, occassional fine music, an attentive professional staff and engaged management. Jazz night on Wednesday evenings is our particular favorite. The location along the Hudson River is a wonderful backdrop for outdoor dining. Wonderful place enthusiastically recommended to all my friends.5/17/2013 12:00:00 AMMy westchester favoriteConsistently good food and great atmosphere especially on a beautiful summer night. Love the roof top bar which is now open. Chicken is the best around. Great tuna tartar. Bread pudding this times as good but not as good as other flavors.5/17/2013 12:00:00 AMAwesomeStill thinking about it days later. What could be better than watching the sunset while enjoying good wine and delicious food. The service was terrific and the entire staff was professional was friendly. Highly recommend this place for a dining experience to remember.5/16/2013 12:00:00 AMVery nice!Beautiful location. Excellent service. Soup special (Spring Veg) was delicious. Steak Frites were good, though the steak was a bit undercooked. I love love love that they have a dairy and gluten free dessert option!5/13/2013 12:00:00 AMWe had a party of 4. 3 mealsWe had a party of 4. 3 meals were excellent. One member ordered the Osso Bucco. The greens and rice were excellent but he felt that the meat had no flavor. Definitely a keeper and we will return.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMRed Hat still greatThis is my first visit since the Superstorm created such havoc along the East coast and the Hudson. You wouldn't have known! The views of the newly topped out Freedom Tower in NYC and the Tappan Zee bridge (depending on which way one looks), rooftop bar, patio dining overlooking the Hudson are all terrific. So many of the staff are so helpful and attentive. The food continues to be awesome! I'll be back.5/8/2013 12:00:00 AMlovely dinner at Red HatMy friend and I sat inside in one of the red leather booths where we could see the sun set and have a nice view of the room. We liked the atmosphere, found our waitress helpful whether helping us choose a good appetizer or a tasty scotch. Seafood was flavorful and portions right. The key lime pie was delicious. We didn't feel rushed. It wasn't the best meal I've had in my life, but it was entirely pleasant and tasty from start to finish.5/6/2013 12:00:00 AMWonderful In Every WayA favorite of ours for the food, service and setting. The restaurant makes great use of the view, but the menu is why we come. The scallops are my favorite. we especially like that the food choices are local or ecological minded. Service is excellent too.5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat burgers and attitude! My boss had me book a reservation on her behalf last week, not realizing she intended to take her admin group (including me) out for lunch. Spring has finally sprung, so we opted to sit outside and enjoy the weather and a great view of the NYC skyline. I tried the Red Hat Burger with gruyere and sautéed onions, while my boss tried her first ever steak and blue cheese salad. She enjoyed her salad quite a bit, and my burger was well executed as well. My only small complaint is that our server disappeared for stretches, leaving us a little dry. Otherwise she was very personable and knew the menu inside and out. We enjoyed our time on their wonderful patio and I love the history of the building, and I'm glad they reclaimed the building.5/2/2013 12:00:00 AMA great place for the viewA great place for the view and food. Excellent service. You feel like you're on vacation.5/1/2013 12:00:00 AMWelcome Back Red HatThis gem of a restaurant has been a favorite of mine for years. Sadly it was terribly damaged during Hurricane Sandy. Happily all is restored and business is back to normal. The food remains excellent as does the service. The menu is large and well priced. My only quibble is the additional charge for a second glass of iced tea. That should be done away with. Other than that it's a great place and deserves a visit.4/29/2013 12:00:00 AMPost-tacos Birthday treatOur daughter and her husband went into the city to celebrate her birthday. Somehow they ended up with friends eating local tacos and sitting at a bar... a bit of a down for her as she was hoping for a special day. Next night we took them to Red Hat for our celebration with them. What a difference. She (and we) loved the food the service and the ambiance.it all topped off with a candle in her yummy flourless chocolate cake. A truly enjoyable evening.4/29/2013 12:00:00 AMLovely spot to stop off forLovely spot to stop off for weekend brunch. The views are stunning and you can sit right on the hudson. Reservation is suggested and be sure to request outside seating. My party arrived at 11:45 and although they don't serve brunch until 12pm they sat us- we were the second couple there and had our choice of seating. If I went again, I'd definitely do the same. The crab cake appetizer was delicious and the cocktails quite refreshing. I recommend the cucumber gimlet.4/28/2013 12:00:00 AMRed Hat sets the standard.Red Hat sets the standard for what fine dining should be. The food is always delicious. The menu changes slightly every once in a while. The waitstaff are excellent. And the owners are always there to make sure everything runs as it should. This is what all restaurants should aspire to be.4/26/2013 12:00:00 AMThe setting could not be moreThe setting could not be more beautiful and the service could not be more competent while friendly. Food was very good.4/22/2013 12:00:00 AMThis was not my first visitThis was not my first visit to Red Hat but I have to say my dinner was delicious and we brought another couple with us and their meals were wonderful as well!! We were able to sit and chat without anyone trying to rush us which was definitely a plus!4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMA superior dining experienceA superior dining experience in the lower Hudson Valley.4/17/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat sunset, great foodOne of the best sunsets in Westchester. The restaurant was easily accessible for my Aunt who uses a walker. The staff made sure that she was able to get in and out easily. Besides that the service was wonderful and the food delicious. A real gem. We will be back.4/14/2013 12:00:00 AMRed Hat, "Bravo"!We enjoyed celebrating our 30th wedding anniversary at The Red Hat! The Bloody Mary looked killer with their homemade horseradish, hubby loved it had two! I started with the Mimosa and then switched to their Rasberry Kir. Enjoyed that more.
The first coarse was the duck pate, excellent. Egg Benedict and poached egg on Frissee salad . The Key Lime Pie to finish was "superb"
I would highly recommend this place and can't wait to go back to have a drink on the 3rd floor bar and then eat outside! A view to enjoy!4/14/2013 12:00:00 AMVery good food wih a greatVery good food wih a great view of the Hudson River.4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMI can't count the number ofI can't count the number of times I've been to Red Hat and I know I'll return again. Food is consistently good -- atmosphere right at the edge of the Hudson is just fantastic. High ceilings and tall windows make it a very spectacular space. Service on this visit was not the best. Took forever - close to 15 minutes - to have a server come to the table to ask for our drink order. Restaurant wasn't full at all - seemed like they just weren't paying attention. Despite that, all else was great. We were the last to leave, and didn't feel rushed at all. Come prepared to relax and enjoy!4/11/2013 12:00:00 AM
