Red Hat on the River
Absolutely extraodinary foodAbsolutely extraodinary food and service. It is a pleasure to come back to this restaurant every single time!5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMAwesomeStill thinking about it days later. What could be better than watching the sunset while enjoying good wine and delicious food. The service was terrific and the entire staff was professional was friendly. Highly recommend this place for a dining experience to remember.5/16/2013 12:00:00 AMVery nice!Beautiful location. Excellent service. Soup special (Spring Veg) was delicious. Steak Frites were good, though the steak was a bit undercooked. I love love love that they have a dairy and gluten free dessert option!5/13/2013 12:00:00 AMWe had a party of 4. 3 mealsWe had a party of 4. 3 meals were excellent. One member ordered the Osso Bucco. The greens and rice were excellent but he felt that the meat had no flavor. Definitely a keeper and we will return.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMRed Hat still greatThis is my first visit since the Superstorm created such havoc along the East coast and the Hudson. You wouldn't have known! The views of the newly topped out Freedom Tower in NYC and the Tappan Zee bridge (depending on which way one looks), rooftop bar, patio dining overlooking the Hudson are all terrific. So many of the staff are so helpful and attentive. The food continues to be awesome! I'll be back.5/8/2013 12:00:00 AMlovely dinner at Red HatMy friend and I sat inside in one of the red leather booths where we could see the sun set and have a nice view of the room. We liked the atmosphere, found our waitress helpful whether helping us choose a good appetizer or a tasty scotch. Seafood was flavorful and portions right. The key lime pie was delicious. We didn't feel rushed. It wasn't the best meal I've had in my life, but it was entirely pleasant and tasty from start to finish.5/6/2013 12:00:00 AMWonderful In Every WayA favorite of ours for the food, service and setting. The restaurant makes great use of the view, but the menu is why we come. The scallops are my favorite. we especially like that the food choices are local or ecological minded. Service is excellent too.5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat burgers and attitude! My boss had me book a reservation on her behalf last week, not realizing she intended to take her admin group (including me) out for lunch. Spring has finally sprung, so we opted to sit outside and enjoy the weather and a great view of the NYC skyline. I tried the Red Hat Burger with gruyere and sautéed onions, while my boss tried her first ever steak and blue cheese salad. She enjoyed her salad quite a bit, and my burger was well executed as well. My only small complaint is that our server disappeared for stretches, leaving us a little dry. Otherwise she was very personable and knew the menu inside and out. We enjoyed our time on their wonderful patio and I love the history of the building, and I'm glad they reclaimed the building.5/2/2013 12:00:00 AMA great place for the viewA great place for the view and food. Excellent service. You feel like you're on vacation.5/1/2013 12:00:00 AMWelcome Back Red HatThis gem of a restaurant has been a favorite of mine for years. Sadly it was terribly damaged during Hurricane Sandy. Happily all is restored and business is back to normal. The food remains excellent as does the service. The menu is large and well priced. My only quibble is the additional charge for a second glass of iced tea. That should be done away with. Other than that it's a great place and deserves a visit.4/29/2013 12:00:00 AMPost-tacos Birthday treatOur daughter and her husband went into the city to celebrate her birthday. Somehow they ended up with friends eating local tacos and sitting at a bar... a bit of a down for her as she was hoping for a special day. Next night we took them to Red Hat for our celebration with them. What a difference. She (and we) loved the food the service and the ambiance.it all topped off with a candle in her yummy flourless chocolate cake. A truly enjoyable evening.4/29/2013 12:00:00 AMLovely spot to stop off forLovely spot to stop off for weekend brunch. The views are stunning and you can sit right on the hudson. Reservation is suggested and be sure to request outside seating. My party arrived at 11:45 and although they don't serve brunch until 12pm they sat us- we were the second couple there and had our choice of seating. If I went again, I'd definitely do the same. The crab cake appetizer was delicious and the cocktails quite refreshing. I recommend the cucumber gimlet.4/28/2013 12:00:00 AMRed Hat sets the standard.Red Hat sets the standard for what fine dining should be. The food is always delicious. The menu changes slightly every once in a while. The waitstaff are excellent. And the owners are always there to make sure everything runs as it should. This is what all restaurants should aspire to be.4/26/2013 12:00:00 AMThe setting could not be moreThe setting could not be more beautiful and the service could not be more competent while friendly. Food was very good.4/22/2013 12:00:00 AMThis was not my first visitThis was not my first visit to Red Hat but I have to say my dinner was delicious and we brought another couple with us and their meals were wonderful as well!! We were able to sit and chat without anyone trying to rush us which was definitely a plus!4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMA superior dining experienceA superior dining experience in the lower Hudson Valley.4/17/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat sunset, great foodOne of the best sunsets in Westchester. Great Food and service. A fantastic upper deck lounge with bar is perfect while you wait to be seated outside just feet from the Hudson.4/16/2013 12:00:00 AMstaff needs to be instructed.Food and service from our waiter was good. The other staff would brush your chair as they went by and could not care if they disturbed you. Lack of respect for you as a diner was disturbing.4/14/2013 12:00:00 AMFabulous location; reallyFabulous location; really an all around excellent experienc.4/14/2013 12:00:00 AMWe went for and enjoyed aWe went for and enjoyed a delicious brunch. The restaurant was easily accessible for my Aunt who uses a walker. The staff made sure that she was able to get in and out easily. Besides that the service was wonderful and the food delicious. A real gem. We will be back.4/14/2013 12:00:00 AMRed Hat, "Bravo"!We enjoyed celebrating our 30th wedding anniversary at The Red Hat! The Bloody Mary looked killer with their homemade horseradish, hubby loved it had two! I started with the Mimosa and then switched to their Rasberry Kir. Enjoyed that more.
The first coarse was the duck pate, excellent. Egg Benedict and poached egg on Frissee salad . The Key Lime Pie to finish was "superb"
I would highly recommend this place and can't wait to go back to have a drink on the 3rd floor bar and then eat outside! A view to enjoy!4/14/2013 12:00:00 AMWe made a last minute reservationWe made a last minute reservation and could not have made a better choice. The food was delicious .......best scallops and swordfish that we have ever had! Beautiful view of the river and sunset. Who could ask for anything more?4/7/2013 12:00:00 AMNot good for groups if youNot good for groups if you want to eat at a time of your choice. Our party of six, which I don't consider very large, could only reserve a table at 5:00 or 9:00, and this is well in advance... their policy.4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMWe decided to have an eveningWe decided to have an evening out at the last minute. Our food was excellent. I had moules frites, my husband fluke. We both enjoyed the dishes which were perfectly cooked. Our wait person heather was superb. Friendly, attentive, without being intrusive. My husband had ordered fries with his fluke, and hen he saw the large portion I received, realized said two orders were not necessary. Heather overheard this and immediately volunteered to take the second order off the bill, a very gracious offer. ll the waitstaff were attentive. A very enjoyable experience at a very moderate price.4/4/2013 12:00:00 AMLoved every moment. DeliciousLoved every moment. Delicious view and food. Excellent service.4/3/2013 12:00:00 AMMy Wife Was HappyThe place was very pretty inside and the outside view is spectacular. The service was excellent. Very friendly and attentive. The food was very good and the menu choices made it difficult to decide.4/2/2013 12:00:00 AMInteresting, eclectic place,Interesting, eclectic place, thankfully restored after major hurricane damage. Love the adaptation of the old power plant and the location on the river with the sunset view.4/2/2013 12:00:00 AMOverall experience was excellent.Overall experience was excellent. We did have to wait for our table, but the bar was a comfortable place to sit with seats available. We requested our reservation be changed to the downstairs, and we were accomodated; being asked if we could wait a few more minutes. Staff was friendly and efficient.3/31/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent Easter Brunch! The staff was friendly and accommodating at all times. As soon as we walked in, we were greeted by friendly hosts and then our waitress was courteous and professional. We had a two-year-old with us and the hostess found perfect seating for us. The food was perfect for my vegan sister and the menu offered a nice variety. A nice tray of hors d'oeuvres came around with awesome food. A definite return.3/31/2013 12:00:00 AMIt was our 33rd anniversary,It was our 33rd anniversary, and we loved Red Hat on the River.
Great food, great service. It was our fist visit, and everyone made us feel welcome.3/30/2013 12:00:00 AMBeen to this restaurant numerousBeen to this restaurant numerous times - my favorite for food, svc, ambiance and a magnificent setting - you cannot go wrong in my opinion3/30/2013 12:00:00 AMWhat a Restaurant Should BeThe Red Hat on the River is just the best! We , as usual, had a delicious meal and the service - as well as the extraordinary care of the proprietors -was exemplary......in a way not found at other restaurants, even in NYC. Highly recommended.3/30/2013 12:00:00 AMWhile other "hot" restaurantsWhile other "hot" restaurants seem to come and go, Red Hat continues to improve over time. The atmosphere and greeting is warm, the seating is comfortable, the views are spectacular, and the food is reliably delicious, regardless of what you order. The service is attentive but unobtrusive.3/28/2013 12:00:00 AMThe restaurant is so charmingThe restaurant is so charming and the view is divine.
The service was remarkably average. We had to ask for rolls (twice) and there was a kind of blase level to the service. Everyone was very nice but we did not feel they were watching our needs at all times. Our meals were delicious (the steak salad) but after ordering and while we were waiting, we noticed that others had rolls. The waitress had changed our knives to steak knives and when the bus-girl came (at my waving her over) she did not bring butter knives so we had to wait for those too. That is just the kind of blase treatment I'm referring to. I would expect this type of highly rated restaurant to have sharper service. Great prices for such a view, ambience and food.3/26/2013 12:00:00 AMI have been to Red Hat dozensI have been to Red Hat dozens of times. It is a favorite and always will be. The view of the Hudson River was wonderful and made us want to return when we could be outside. We loved the decor and interesting art!3/24/2013 12:00:00 AMReally good except for the busboys!Went last Sunday for Hudson Valley Restaurant Week. This was our first time there even though we live nearby. The location was amazing. It has the perfect view of Tappan Zee Bridge on one end and Empire State Building on the other. The decor is perfect and food is better than the city. Our waitress is very good but for some reason, all the busboys seem to be very unhappy. No smile, no greetings even though they did their job. Otherwise, it's a perfect experience. By the way, love the way they made the mussels! Key lime pie was to die for!3/24/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat Spot.Red Hat never disappoints. It is always consistantly very good. Food is good, no matter what you order. Service is very professional and friendly and there is plenty of help. There is a great view of the Hudson too. The only problem is because it is so good, it is hard getting a reservation.3/24/2013 12:00:00 AMI found the perfect burgerI found the perfect burger during lunch at Red Hat. Prepared medium rare as requested. My husband enjoyed his very tender short ribs. We plan to return when we can dine outside at river's edge. Scenery that transcends. What more could you ask for?3/22/2013 12:00:00 AMI have been at Red Hat a numberI have been at Red Hat a number of times and it never disappoints. Service staff is knowledgeable and always helpful and the timing for delivery of food is timely but not rushing for another seating. The food is truly excellent with a wide array of selections for each course and wonderfully prepared and beautifully presented. In warm weather it is wonderful to start off at the outdoor bar on the 3rd floor and then proceed to your outdoor table along the river walk on the Hudson. The only qualification is that it is expensive but it does deliver for the price.
Heartily recommended for a special, place on a special occasion.3/22/2013 12:00:00 AMThis was our first time atThis was our first time at Red Hat. We dined on a cold March evening, and decided we would return for outside dining during the warmer months as the view was wonderful. The open dining area inside was quite loud. We requested a quiet table and were seated upstairs, others in our party had to lean in to be part of the conversation. Our server was friendly and professial, the salmon and beef bourguignon were wonderful! Each dish was perfectly timed eventhough the restaurant was crowded. The special drink menu was "New York City" pricy. We will return in the summer for lunch outside.3/21/2013 12:00:00 AMIt was fabulous!! bThe sunsetIt was fabulous!! bThe sunset was soooo beautiful!!! Our waitress and Barista were the best and it was not noisy upstairs until the place started filling up...this did in no way ruin our exquisite evening!! The portions were very impressive for a Restaurant Week Menu.
We will spread the word...3/21/2013 12:00:00 AM
