You wouldn't have known! The views of the newly topped out Freedom Tower in NYC and the Tappan Zee bridge (depending on which way one looks), rooftop bar, patio dining overlooking the Hudson are all terrific. So many of the staff are so helpful and attentive. The food continues to be awesome! We liked the atmosphere, found our waitress helpful whether helping us choose a good appetizer or a tasty scotch. Seafood was flavorful and portions right. The key lime pie was delicious. We didn't feel rushed. Spring has finally sprung, so we opted to sit outside and enjoy the weather and a great view of the NYC skyline. I tried the Red Hat Burger with gruyere and sautéed onions, while my boss tried her first ever steak and blue cheese salad. She enjoyed her salad quite a bit, and my burger was well executed as well. My only small complaint is that our server disappeared for stretches, leaving us a little dry. Otherwise she was very personable and knew the menu inside and out. Sadly it was terribly damaged during Hurricane Sandy. Happily all is restored and business is back to normal. The food remains excellent as does the service. The menu is large and well priced. My only quibble is the additional charge for a second glass of iced tea. That should be done away with. Somehow they ended up with friends eating local tacos and sitting at a bar... a bit of a down for her as she was hoping for a special day. Next night we took them to Red Hat for our celebration with them. What a difference. She (and we) loved the food the service and the ambiance.it all topped off with a candle in her yummy flourless chocolate cake. Reservation is suggested and be sure to request outside seating. My party arrived at 11:45 and although they don't serve brunch until 12pm they sat us- we were the second couple there and had our choice of seating. If I went again, I'd definitely do the same. The crab cake appetizer was delicious and the cocktails quite refreshing. The service was remarkably average. We had to ask for rolls (twice) and there was a kind of blase level to the service. Everyone was very nice but we did not feel they were watching our needs at all times. Our meals were delicious (the steak salad) but after ordering and while we were waiting, we noticed that others had rolls. The waitress had changed our knives to steak knives and when the bus-girl came (at my waving her over) she did not bring butter knives so we had to wait for those too. That is just the kind of blase treatment I'm referring to. I would expect this type of highly rated restaurant to have sharper service. Service staff is knowledgeable and always helpful and the timing for delivery of food is timely but not rushing for another seating. The food is truly excellent with a wide array of selections for each course and wonderfully prepared and beautifully presented. In warm weather it is wonderful to start off at the outdoor bar on the 3rd floor and then proceed to your outdoor table along the river walk on the Hudson. The only qualification is that it is expensive but it does deliver for the price.

We dined on a cold March evening, and decided we would return for outside dining during the warmer months as the view was wonderful. The open dining area inside was quite loud. We requested a quiet table and were seated upstairs,others in our party had to lean in to be part of the conversation. Our server was friendly and professial, the salmon and beef bourguignon were wonderful! Each dish was perfectly timed eventhough the restaurant was crowded.The special drink menu was "New York City" pricy.
