  • "We came in from out of town and since my wife is Korean, we thought we would especially enjoy a new asian restaurant. We came hungry, and unfortunately, we left hungry. The portions were especially small (jokingly small). We have alot of experience with asian cuisine and restaurants, and we have never seen such a tiny serving of Kung Pao Shrimp (especially for $20+). There was a lack of diversity in the vegetables within the dish, and the seasoning was noticeably non-asian. The environment was nice, though loud. The waiter was nice and polite, but the other waitress helping for our table was fairly grumpy. All in all, the Subway sandwich that we had to eat after our dinner (as we were still hungry), was more satisfying. "

  • "We had heard great things about the food and were not disappointed. We love being able to go to places where they can make something delicious that we would struggle to make at home. The sushi, though lauded by others, was only average. But price was not unreasonable. We were hoping for something a little quieter/romantic and this was definitely more of a hip hangout scene. All in all, would still recommend."

Then was sat at a table right in front of the grill with lots of foot traffic and kitchen smell and noise for the pricey menu.staff was quick to start but slow to take our order..   • "I live in Traverse City and we have some great restaurants here but Red Ginger is consistently one of the very best, and the one I frequent the most. Chef Dan has created a chic urban feel that embraces the history of Traverse City, high-quality food that is complex in flavor, and attentive but not pushy service. Other restaurants should pay attention to what Red Ginger is doing because no one else seems to offer the entire package. My two sisters and I have already been their twice this week and so have my parents, all in mixed groups. Well done, Red Ginger. It feels like Chicago but with the coziness of being at home."

  • "Our experience with Red Ginger never disappoints. We were served by two servers who tagged teamed efficiently and professionally through out the evening. The food was excellent. We started with the featured sushi roll which proved to be fresh and well prepared, very tasty. The following salad was crisp and flavorful. We enjoyed the Chinese ribs...a new favorite that we will long for every time we are in traverse city, I am sure. Desert was a perfect balance of rich ess, sweetness and lightness in chocolate.The bottle of wine was reasonably priced and paired well with the entire meal. And finishing with a cup of excellent decaf espresso was a wise move. In short, we loved it!"

Although our seating was right next to the cooks and as leaving my wife fealt very uncomfortable when getting up to find every cooking staff to be stairing and practically droowling.   • "I live in Ann Arbor and visit Traverse City a few times a year, and I find myself always wanting to go back to Red Ginger. Fun atmosphere, good wine list and drinks. Swanky but also kid friendly (for older kids). Love Chef Dan's special roll with poached lobster, asparagus, and just a tiny bit of truffle and bacon...very balanced and delicate. We also had an amazing tuna tartare appetizer with jalapeno on a crispy rice cake--so good we ordered another. Specials of tomato thai bisque and Asian chopped salad good. Shaking beef good. Wish the entrees were as adventurous as the specials and rolls--entrees little too cliche. But really, no complaints--love Red Ginger. Wish there was one in Ann Arbor!"

  • "If you are looking for good Sushi in Northern Michigan please check this out. In downtown traverse city it is one of the several great restaurants. If you like sushi, you should most definitely check it out. It is great for a nice romantic dinner out. We had an appetizer, bottle of wine, sushi, and dessert (will depend on your bottle of wine an such) for under $150 with tip."

The service is fantastic, and I've never been disappointed with any dish I've ever ordered. The staff is also great at answering questions about the food & wine. It can get crowded, so be sure to make reservations in advance. When you make your reservation, let them know if you are celebrating any type of special occasion...they will have something special waiting at the table! I appreciate when a restaurant makes an effort to make customers feel special, and Red Ginger definitely does that."
