  • "Our experience was not so great for the French Quarter. First it was very noisy. Second our waiter was not attentive or the kind of server you would expect at these prices in this venue. Needs to be replaced. Finally our entrées were just so-so, again not what you would expect for this venue. We observed many medium and large groups 4 and up. Seems like the place for a larger group assuming you had a better server. On several lists which was disappointing in the experience."

The wine list is excellent for a popular, casual restaurant. The service is outstanding. Be sure to try the BBQed oysters. They are beyond description. The seafood dishes are superb. And don't leave without trying their chocolate dessert. I forget what it is called but it is marvelous."

  • "My wife and I loved everything about our visit to Red Fish Grill. The service is top-notch, and the atmosphere is energetic and casual (but not loud or chaotic). The menu is short and simple (a lesson other restaurants would do well to learn), and focuses squarely on seafood. (No burgers, quesadillas, or chicken tenders here.) My grilled redfish was fantastic--flavorful, but not heavily seasoned--and my wife's shrimp and grits were addictive. Our only complaint was with our dessert, the double-chocolate bread pudding: with its hard crust and abundance of chocolate sauce, it was unrecognizable as bread pudding, but tasted like a large brownie. (Not that there's anything wrong with a large brownie.) Ultimately, we were impressed."

  • "We've dined all of the United States and simply love Red Fish Grill when we are in town. The server Ike makes you feel as though you are part of the New Orleans family! The BBW oysters are to die for! They are flash fried, dipped in Crystal BBQ sauce, and drizzled with a housemade blue cheese dressing. The Po Boy version is just as great! We were in New Orleans for four days and ate there everyday for lunch! Plus, if you love grilled fish without the heavy sauces, this is the place for you!"

  • "I'd been to Red Fish Grill during a work trip per the recommendation of a friend of mine who lives in NOLA and frequent the place. It was great. So when I went back in the summer on a girls trip I knew this place wouldn't let us down. My friends loved it and during our 4 day trip we ended up going there 3 times. We knew it wouldn't let us down. There was local fare plus old faithfuls. Also you must try the chocolate bread pudding dessert. You have to order it when you order your meal as it takes time to prepare. Definitely a great place to check out."

  • "Something for everyone was appreciated as most were looking for a seafood restaurant but a couple of folks in our large family gathering don't "do" seafood and we also had a small child with us. (The children's menu was great.) The steak and chicken options were appreciated by them, while the rest of us enjoyed the wood grilled selections. The "specialty" grilled redfish with lump crabmeat was chosen by a couple of us, and while we found the crabmeat to be less than generously portioned, it was delicious in the sauce; no complaints."

This is not tourist food - it's excellent local food in the Brennan family tradition! The place was mobbed and if you don't mind a high level of noise, it is worth dining there. The service was good and of course, the food was excellent. Make a reservation and spend significant time walking through the French Quarter...the meals are not geared towards dieters."

  • "I read it was a top 10 restaurant in New Orleans, I would have to disagree! There is some great food in New Orleans this was pretty average. Loud, 3 bachalorette partis going on. Ordered the grouper and they came back and said they dropped the plate and that was the last one. Offered dessert on the house and then charged us anyway! Strawberry shortcake had maybe 3 strawberries. It wasn't horrible, but I wouldn't go agIn!"

  • "In a town known for their Mardi Gras parties, usually Cajun food is the pick on most local menus. However, The Red Fish Grill is different. 90% of the menu is fish and other aquatic creatures. They are served in your choice o many different ways (different sauces, doneness, etc.). The food was superb. Perhaps the best tuna we have ever had. My wife had the Red Fish signature dinner, of well you guess it, Red Fish."

  • "3 of us went to Red Fish for dinner. For appetizers we shared buffalo fried oysters and raw oysters. Both were okay but not great. We each tried a different fish and shared-Yellow Fin Tuna (rare with a soy type sauce); grouper which was the daily special and the house special red fish. All 3 fishes were very good. Desserts were chocolate cheesecake and banana foster cheese cake. These were fine. It was very noisy the night we were there."

  • "We were born, grew up, went to college, etc. in the South (Miss./Lou.), but have been Texas residents for 30+ years. Even so, we "come home" to the Miss. Gulf Coast/New Orleans 2-3 times a year for food and fun. For reasons unbeknownst to us, we have always regarded Red Fish Grill (even though it's one of the Brennan-family restaurants) as a "place for tourists". However, after deciding to give it a try on our recent visit, we couldn't have been more wrong. The service was excellent and the food was outstanding. Sure, they have the basics (e.g., gumbo, poboys, fried shrimp, etc.), but they also offer dishes not found elsewhere, all with the special NOLA-flair."
