Diner Reviews
  • "For the last eight years we have picked this restaurant as one of our favorite places to eat while visiting Wild Dunes, after our recent visit we will probably not go again. The noise level was so high that we couldn't visit within our party of 6."

  • "One of our new favorite restaurants. Great service and food"

  • "Always consistent good food and good service. Great hamburgers. Great deserts."

  • "In the Charleston, SC area, there's no excuse to eat at a chain/franchise restaurant. Dining at Red Drum demonstrates the reason perfectly. Everything about the place is unique and memorable. Their fresh catch is purchased just a few miles down the road directly off the fishing boats at Shem Creek, their Scallop Ceviche is delicious, and the salads are unique and light. Oh, and if you want to find a place with bread just like your mom or grandmother used to make? This is the place."

  • "A positive experience except for extremely slow service. There is no excuse for arriving at 6:00 & eating @ 7:00 when all that was ordered was a drink and entree each."
    Dined on 8/16/2014
  • "I have always had a good meal at Red Drum. This visit was no different. On the night of our last visit, they had a large birthday party in the back room. The owner told us that the party was for the wife of a local restaurant owner. The fact that they (as restaurant owners) chose Red Drum for the celebration speaks for itself. The service and food was great as always. Great ambience. We were pleased with our experience."

  • "The Drum never dissapoints, brunch was stellar and they don't skimp on the bottomless mimosas like some places!"
    Dined on 8/10/2014
  • "The service was exceptional. My wife and I really enjoyed our experience."

  • "Red Drum is good place with exelent atmosphere for a diner with friends, the food has a lot of flavors of Texas but with sofiticacion touch, in general food has a exelent quality and good taste."

  • "Simply awesome! Got the Chicken tacos for the first time and they are ridiculously good!!! Red Drum always deliveries in amazing ways! Great night! We have celebrated birthdays and anniversaries and this time we got to celebrate and discover we are having a baby girl and Charlie and his staff were so sweet to my wife and I. Made the occasion that much more special to have it at Red Drum."

  • "Bloody Mary's exceptional. Menu creative, a little noisy to carry on table side conversations"
    Dined on 8/3/2014
  • "Very consistent - unique menu makes it great to keep coming back. Service was perfect."

  • "The noise level in this restaurant is "off the charts" high. No one in our party had a hearing impairment but we could not carry on a conversation because the noise level is so high. This restaurant has been in business for several years. I am really surprised that they have not figured out how to manage the noise level by this point. While the food was pretty good and might be worth a second try, the noise level is so disturbing that we won't risk the money or time to give it another try. I will say the fried shrimp appetizer is excellent. Eat outside if it is a nice evening."

  • "We loved the crab and avacado tostadas, very unique with wonderful flavor. The corn pudding that came with fire grilled shrimp was outstanding, it was luscious. My husband loved the venison sausage but found the quail to be on the dry side. The restaurant is extremely loud but overall we enjoyed our experience."

  • "Great food service but the was a little slow. We will go back."

  • "Red Drum never disappoints! I have yet to ever have a bad meal or bad service. Chef Berryhill and his staff are the BEST!!"

  • "Very good. Different!!! I would have again. Not your typical dish. Lovely bottle of wine and the Caesar salad is awesome."

  • "The food and service were excellent. We had wonderful spicy shrimp and chicken tacos."

  • "We live in the neighborhood, but had never tried Red Drum, not sure why. The food was great and the service was even better."
    Dined on 6/26/2014
  • "This was my 2nd time dining at Red Drum. The wine selection is very interesting. I found the food good, but not great. The arugula salad needed more substance: additional apples & bacon would have enhanced it. The scallops were the best item we ordered. The venison sausage was a bit disappointing in taste, and the quail was average. We tried the fried donuts for dessert. They were good, but some were still a bit doughy in the middle."
    Dined on 6/22/2014
  • "The food was awesome. I had the scallops and my partner had shrimp. Both were well prepared and served in a timely manner. Noise level was moderate, in the area where we were seated, so we had to speak a little louder than normal to be heard."
    Dined on 6/20/2014
  • "Our table had bbq grilled shrimp, salmon, and grouper. All were outstanding and several days later we have all commented on how good the food was every day. We had a toddler with us and the wait staff was wonderful with her."
    Dined on 6/18/2014
  • "Unfriendly and barely accommodating hostess which made the evening less pleasant."
    Dined on 6/16/2014
  • "We absolutely love the Red Drum. The food is beyond delicious, the service is incredible, and the drinks and ambiance are great! I wish the Red Drum would open locations in more cities, so I could enjoy it more often. It's amazing!"

  • "Food is still really good and service was great but prices have seemed to really jump since my last visit"
    Dined on 6/11/2014
  • "The food is excellent and the items on the menu have a twist on some usual items. The waiter continually asked for our order, past being attentive. My drink was taken before I was finished. Our bill was put on the table while we were in the middle of eating dessert without a word. I could possibly understand this if they needed our table, but they didn't. We were planning on having an after dinner drink, but because he seemed anxious for us to leave, we did."

  • " Had not been to Rud Drum in a long time. Menu is very Mexican without the good Mexican prices. I thought the service was great , just was surprised at how expensive and extremely average the quality of food."

  • "The food and service were wonderful! Loved the vibe and ambiance, especially the outdoor area. Great place for a date night or to hang with friends. Will definitely return!"

  • "The bar is always hopping, the wine list is excellent and I've never had anything but a great meal here. I highly recommend. "

  • "Had a delightful dinner hosting an out-of-town friend on Sunday night of Memorial Day weekend. The grouper special and the salmon were both excellent. Nice menu choices and good wine list. Will definitely go back!"

  • "We live Downtown and was excited to get away from the Downtown hustle and meet friends for dinner. We have visited Red Drum a few times in the past and I was surprised how run down it has become. As we waited for our friends at the bar, the older gray headed bartender was rude to my husband and I (as we purchased a 100.00 bottle of wine and left a 20% tip for him basically doing nothing). The food was ok, nothing special. We won't be headed back."

  • "The steak frites and market fish are the best I have ever had. You will not be disappointed if you choose either. The atmosphere is outstanding and service is top-notch. What a great restaurant. "

  • "Mt Pleasant has so many good restaurants, and Red Drum is one of them. Fun atmosphere and an intriguing menu. We went for a late dinner on Mother's Day and never felt rushed. My BBQ shrimp in a green chile sauce was yummy. Everyone cleaned their plates. We will be back. "

  • "We have lived in the area for 3 years and visit the Red Drum often. It is my wife's favorite restaurant in the whole Charleston area. There is nothing touristy about this joint. Inside is mellow and subdued, appropriate for a romantic dinner as well as entertaining clients. Service is good. The food is great. The wine list is very good, yet within the reach of mere mortals like myself. There are a few staples you should sample: Fried shrimp appetizer; BBQ shrimp, catch of the day (ours was grouper, perfectly cooked, served with lime beurre blanc), and the wood grilled chicken entrees are sublime. We particularly love Tuesdays -- half price wine night! Make reservations. Crayons & paper table coverings for the Kids to boot. "

  • "We were very pleased with our dining experience. We were celebrating a college graduation and called to find out if we could be seated earlier and the hostess seated us upon arrival. The food and service were very pleasing. "
