The brunch was great! Service was great! Loved the breakfast brunch menu. The only problem we had was as the crowd got larger inside it was noisy and hard to have a conversation. We were sitting on the bar side two tables away from the fire place. Will try and sit outside next time.

Service and ambiance were outstanding. Great patio bar with heat and fireplace. Can't go wrong with the menu. Don't judge by curb appeal. Complimentary valet. Went for dinner but will be back to either bar someone. Very cozy vibe and nice crowd. Donuts for dessert are a must. Probably most Impressed this visit by the welcoming of the hostess/manager/ owner? and overall service.

We are big fans of Red Drum. This past experience, our server was good, but I felt like towards the end we were being a little ignored. We had to ask for water and a few other things. Also the noise level toward the end was difficult as the live music outside pervaded inside and made it hard for us to continue our discussion (there were just 3 of us). Overall, however, it was delicious and we love the spot. We will definitely be back.

We arrived early so we could enjoy a cocktail or 2, sat at the bar and all the bartenders were very friendly and attentive. Our dinner reservation was at 7:45pm and the lovely hostess retrieved us from the bar and outside we went for dinner. Chris was our server, he took our order and that was pretty much the last time we seen him. Of course a food runner brought our appetizer and dinner plus we tracked down a bartender for another drink and needed that same bartender to retrieve Chris so we could pay our bill........REALLY? The restaurant is not too big even if he had other tables he wasn't checking on all of them. I would highly recommend this restaurant but either sit inside where they can see you or ask not to sit in Chris' section.

We thoroughly enjoyed our food. It was excellent. Our waiter was attentive, but not intrusive. My only complaint is the noise level. This is not a place to go for quiet conversation because the people at the next table will hear whatever you say, as you have to shout to be heard above the din. That said, if you are in the mood for good food and high energy, I would recommend this restaurant without hesitation.

Great service, Adam is a gem! All food expectations were met plus the reasonably priced market fish dinner, Fresh Grouper. Delicious! As usual the scallops were devine and at Adam's suggestion I substitued the grits cake for the asparagus. Perfect. We were surprised by a simple sinfully delicious "fried donut" and custard desert to celebrate Steve's birthday!!!! It was a nice quiet evening outside on the patio and we enjoyed an after dinner drink by the fire on the first cool evening this fall.

My scallops were perfectly cooked - our party of four was well satisfied with the food and the service. We were a bit disappointed with the noise level and while we were able to converse, some sound proofing would have made it a most wonderful experience. We will definitely return for a special occasion - it's a bit pricey for frequent dining. Oh, and on a rainy stormy night, we so appreciated valet parking.

This is one of our favorite restaurants in the Charleston area and we always try to get there. If I lived in South Carolina I would be able to sample more items on the memu because everything sounds wonderful. We went here for parents anniversary during restaurant week and Red Drum did an excellent job as always. I always have a difficult time explaining the style of food, but its always excellent and never disappoints. Recommend their fish dishes and the crab and avocado starter is AWESOME (our favorite dish of the night). The service here is fantastic!! Great bar scene and often there is a live band later at night. Only downside is I wish there was a barrier to help with the noise level. The walls have nothing on them, making it a bit louder in the restaurant.

Can not remember our waitress name, but I made reservation for 3 of us for 6:30. We arrived a little before and got seated right away and they sat us right by the kitchen @ a table. We ordered our food shortly after we got seated after 6:30 and it took over an hour to get our food. I had to finally ask the waitress what was going on with the food. And at the time we sat down, there was not a crowd in the restaurant so I don't understand why it took so long to get our food. The waitress never came back to ask us for more to drink, if we wanted more bread, we had to flag her down and ask for everything ourselves. When you get that busy that you forget your customers, you have too many tables!

My wife and sister went on a weekend, our waiter was fantastic, recommended some wine for my sister which she loved. I had the quail and texas venison sausage, it was great, the quail was even deboned, not sure how you do that! My wife had the red snapper, also excellent. My sister had the strip which she said was great. All in all a great experience, will be back

  • Great Sunday Brunch
    OpenTable Diner Since 2008
    Dined on 8/31/2014
A perennial favorite Sunday brunch spot. For once, I did not have my favorite venison sausage and quail, but I had to order the jalapeno cheese grits as a side. My 90 year old mom loves the French toast, although she did have a hard time hearing since this restaurant can get loud. I hesitated to take family from Texas, since they eat great southwestern food all the time, but they were more than pleased with the quality of the food. We all loved the coffee. We are not big drinkers at brunch, but the brunch drinks are excellent (from past experience). There is no valet service at Sunday brunch, which seemed to confuse many arriving diners used to the nightly valet service. We are looking forward to cooler weather for patio dining.

This was my second time to Red Drum and I was just as pleased as the first time. The food was fantastic as always, and the service was good as well. The ambiance was definitely better the first time around, as it was rather crowded and loud during this visit, but since it was on a Saturday night, it could be expected. They have had a Ceviche starter as a special on the menu both times that I have visited (different fish each time), and although it isn't on the menu itself, I would highly recommend trying it if it is available that evening. It is absolutely delicious and very well done.

In the Charleston, SC area, there's no excuse to eat at a chain/franchise restaurant. Dining at Red Drum demonstrates the reason perfectly. Everything about the place is unique and memorable. Their fresh catch is purchased just a few miles down the road directly off the fishing boats at Shem Creek, their Scallop Ceviche is delicious, and the salads are unique and light. Oh, and if you want to find a place with bread just like your mom or grandmother used to make? This is the place.

I have always had a good meal at Red Drum. This visit was no different. On the night of our last visit, they had a large birthday party in the back room. The owner told us that the party was for the wife of a local restaurant owner. The fact that they (as restaurant owners) chose Red Drum for the celebration speaks for itself. The service and food was great as always. Great ambience. We were pleased with our experience.
