A word from Red Chopsticks
Authentic Chinese cuisine. Lunch special and dinner special are available. This restaurant has recently changed hand to two cheerful and smiley chinese girls. For those who are familiar with the restaurant, we have kept the same menu and the same chef, same old good taste can be expected, if not better!!!Continued

Diner Reviews
  • "We were visiting from Chicago and looking for Asian food. When we arrived at Red Chopsticks it was closed. Yes, not for the night but forever. I am really disappointed that they are still listed. I called the number to verify this and it has been disconnected. It was late and we didn't know the area but found Tony's at the Fisherman's Wharf, Redondo Beach. They were wonderful to us. The hostess, our waitress and Sebastian at the bar was outstanding. The food was great and a good value as well. We loved it."

  • "Maxi's Asian Delight took over the location of the former Red Chopsticks, even though the name on the outside of the building still says Red Chopsticks. Same menu, different cook and staff. We ordered three items that we had ordered from Red Chopsticks before, the Mongolian Beef, Broccoli Beef, and Shanghai Steamed Dumplings. All were decent, but not quite as good as they used to be with the former Red Chopsticks cook. Also, our server didn't seem familiar with the menu, as evidenced when we ordered the Shanghai Steamed Dumplings. When ordering, all I got was a puzzled look from our server. It took three tries and pointing at the menu to get my order across. The signature red chopsticks at each table setting are now also gone."

  • "Decent portions. Pictures on yelp look better than the restaurant which is akin to a fast food restaurant in ambience. For $8 you can get a decent lunch with entree, rice, egg roll, and soup. Not bad considering a lot of fast food places are running $6+ for a meal. Service is fast, the lady there was nice. Not a place to take the in-laws to or a date you want to impress. However if you just want quick Chinese food, it is fine a prob a tad better than Panda Express."

  • "Dined here recently for a late lunch and were the only customers at the time. Ordered the Shanghai Steamed Buns for an appetizer and was told that it would take about 15 minutes to make. We said we didn't mind the wait, and ordered some lunch specials as well. The lunch specials came fairly quickly and we proceeded to finish those off, but never received our Shanghai Steamed Buns. When we asked where they were, we were told that they had forgot to place the order, and it would take an additional 15 minutes if we still wanted them. By this time, we had already been there about an hour, and had finished off our lunch specials, so we didn't want to wait the additional time. No apology was offered. They truly need to work on customer service."

  • "This is a small restaurant with a handful of tables. Didn't have any problem getting seated though, since most of their business is takeout. We ordered the Shanghai Steamed Dumplings, Chicken String Bean Dinner, and Vegetable Lo Mein. The Steamed Dumplings were great, but take 15-20 minutes to prepare, so if ordering, you should do this as soon as you order your drinks. The other dishes came quickly, were tasty and on par with other Chinese restaurants in the area. Our waitress was also the cashier so service will depend on how many people are ordering takeout at the time of your visit."

  • "The restaurant is rather small but clean and friendly. Most of their business seems to be take-out so service is excellent for their dine-in guests. They offer a variety of lunch specials to choose from, and they all come with a choice of egg-flower or hot-and-sour soup, along with an egg roll. Our table ordered tangerine chicken, broccoli beef, and walnut shrimp. All were good and on par with other chinese restaurants in the area. We also ordered the shanghai steamed bun appetizer, which is not typically found at other chinese restaurants. They were moist and juicy, by far the favorite dish on our table."

  • "Ate here late on a Friday night, since we were in the area. This is a small restaurant but didn't have a problem getting a table since most of their business seems to be take out. We ordered the Shanghai Steamed Bun appetizers, with the Broccoli Beef and Spicy Eggplant with Tofu dinner specials. The Shanghai Steamed Buns take a while to make, so if you're planning to dine in and order this, recommend placing your order as soon as the server stops by to ask for drinks. Both dinner specials were prepared fairly quickly and came with crab ragoons, egg rolls, and steamed rice. We enjoyed all our dishes, but especially the Shanghai Steamed Buns. If you've never been here, it's definitely worth a try!"

  • "This is a small restaurant with maybe a half dozen tables or so. We dined here late on a Thursday night and most of their business seemed to be takeout, so the restaurant was fairly quiet. We ordered the Shredded Chicken with String Bean and Walnut Shrimp dinner specials along with the Shanghai Steamed Bun appetizer. We were told that the steamed buns take about 15 minutes to make, but they were definitely worth the wait. Moist and juicy, full of flavor. The dinner specials were a nice value, served with crab ragoons, egg rolls, and steamed rice. Service was excellent, especially since we were the only dine-in customers."

  • "Clearly a neighborhood takeout place, with a few tables if you want to eat in. Good solid Chinese food. Portions are large and quite tasty. No beer or wine on premises. Very friendly staff. We'll return!"

  • "Very friendly waitress, Restaurant is clean. My Kungpao shrimp is good but not excellent. Hot and sour soup is good but they don't offer small bow."

  • "Food and service very good. This restaurant is more of a take out restaurant."
