  • "RDG Bar Annie feels like a Vegas restaurant landed on Post Oak in Houston, TX. Using the Houston Restaurant Week menu made me feel second class at this restaurant and the food did not live up to the hype I had heard about RDG. Yes, the restaurant is beautiful, there are many beautiful people, and good times were obviously being celebrated. But my trout was ridiculously dry. The cold sweet potato soup went untouched (however the gazpacho was awesome). And we waited forever to get different courses of our meal. Overall, not satisfied, especially for the price tag, and do not plan to return."

  • "We came here for dinner for HRW 2014 and had a fantastic time! Our server was wonderful and very attentive. He gave many recommendations and every one was spot on. We ordered cocktails per our waiter's recommendation and enjoyed them. We each ordered different courses so we could try them all, and each one was excellent. My only complaint was the valet service. They were very rude, and we had to wait 10 minutes for our car (there was only one person in front of us). There is free parking in the back, so next time I will just park myself."

  • "Cafe Annie overall seems to be in a decline: the decorations are worn and beginning to look shabby, and the food, which during HRW 2013 we thought was stupendous (we went twice that August!) had slipped from the mark, and become boring. But most problematic was the valet service. The valet returned our car with scratches, dirt and wood fragments along the upper half of most of the passenger side of the car, which we didn't notice until we looked at the car in the daylight the next day. Paco at RDG was sympathetic, but informed me it was the problem of the valet service and that I would be receiving a call from them. No call. Taken all together, it is unlikely we will be back at RDG."

  • "The food was fantastic. We visited for our anniversary and they gave us complimentary glasses of (good!) champagne after we had been seated. I was completely impressed. My wife had the ahi tuna salad as an appetizer and loved it. Then for our main courses, my wife had the pheasant and I had the filet. They were both outstanding. We ordered the coffee & chocolate ice cream for dessert and it was very tasty, and they jazzed it up a bit for our anniversary. Again, a really thoughtful touch. Overall, there are few pure southwestern food options in Houston, so we're lucky to have this place."

  • "This was our first experience dining at RDG, and will definitely be our last. Starting with the good: We thoroughly enjoyed Bar Annie. It was a gorgeous evening, so we sat outside and enjoyed a bottle of Bollinger. The service outside was wonderful. Once we were ready to dine, we went inside to our table and it all went downhill from there. Waiter seemed way over his head. I ordered the filet and have never disliked a meal at a fine dining establishment quite as much as loathed this one. The filet had a massive vein down the middle, and the side that accompanied it was completely inedible. There was a sauce all over the filet that I attempted to scrape off in order to make it salvageable. Rest of our party was similarly unimpressed."

  • "My friends and I tried the restaurant month menu and I was very disappointed in their food. We had a gel night out and each one of us ordered something different and everything came out tasting bland or nasty. We've all dined there previously (without the 4 course menu) and had never been disappointed. Maybe they didn't put much are or effort into the menu because of it's low price. Our first waiter was nice and fun, however the waiter we had for the rest of the night was very rude and didn't seem to care about us."

  • "Service was attentive, respectful w/experienced waiter supported by others who check quietly & frequently. Hats off for the space between tables for privacy and adequate walk space; lately most fine restaurants think nothing of constant chair bumping. This is particularly the case for we women diners - I have observed that the male diner's chairs aren't repeatedly knocked and jostled by wait staff to the same extent. The food was quite good and the menu variety excellent. Producing toasted gluten free bread = high marks! My valet parker was a charmer. Room for improvement: wine list policy. When I order a specific vintage, I expect to receive that vintage or be advised that they're out. A 2005 European red is NOT the same as an '06 or '07."

  • "Two of my friends had ordered bottomless mimosas, one was brought out and we had to ask for the other one, which was brought out 15 minutes later. It took 30 minutes for them to come to take our order. Water was not refilled promptly. When my water was refilled, they only refilled it half way for some reason and just walked away. The restaurant was not busy at all, even though it was Sunday at noon. The food and atmosphere was nice, but I probably wont return. The food isn't so good that I can overlook the terrible service."

  • "Owners Mimi and Robert have created a California bay area quality restaurant. Conventional dishes are served in addition to those with a southern influence, and creative twist. Cuisine and quality ingredients are taken seriously. The oysters, crabmeat beignets, mushroom soup with duck croutons (amazing), cinnamon roasted pheasant, scallops, and the walnut and caramel bread pudding with poached pears were all fabulous! Mimi, Robert and the staff are very friendly and attentive. You are made to feel special! We will be back, and also plan to use RDG for group events! Contemporary and tasteful décor. "

  • "This visit was my first time dining at RDG + Bar Annie. I was there on a business trip so I was dining alone, but the service was excellent so I never felt like I was waiting around for my meal. The staff's attention to detail was unprecedented - I don't think I've ever been to a restaurant that made the meal feel so personal. They were incredibly attentive. They have an excellent wine offerings, and some really unique menu choices. I had lamb with a mole sauce, and it was unlike anything I've ever eaten. "

  • "It just didn't measure up to an RDG restaurant.I asked our waiter to tell me about a dish on the menu...he recited the menu description to me (my husband started grinning). I asked about a different item and he recited the menu description to me (my husband started laughing).Is it too much to ask that a waiter know a bit more than the menu description for menu items that cost just under $50?The beef tartare was served with a bit of mashed avocado that was so hot you really couldn't taste the beef or the avocado--and we like things really spicy hot.The scallops were beautifully cooked but the caramelized yucca was like discs of cardboard. It was so dark that one table used a flashlight to read the menu. It was a disappointing meal."
