Diner Reviews
  • "Went with a very large group (12) and had amazing service, great food and the cocktails are to die for. When you order something like a pomegranate martini, they don't just bring you a glass, they bring the whole darn shaker. Love it! We are going to make this our annual team dinner restaurant when we come to ATL. Thank you!"

  • "I was expecting very romantic dinner but received a subpar meal and service. Seated in a very nice dining room and at the table we requested but we were overlooked by the wait staff most of the night. We ordered a nice bottle of chardonnay, Oysters Rockefeller and Sushi; all were fantastic but expensive and slow to arrive at table. We shared the broiled seafood platter with cauliflower casserole; I hate to say but the cauliflower casserole was the best thing on the plate. This entrée consisted of a small piece (2-3 bites) of bland, mushy salmon, 3 plain shrimp, 3 tasty scallops and only one enjoyable but small, hush puppy sized, crab cake. Not impressed with small portions and unreliable food quality & service at this price point."

  • "Celebrating our wedding anniversary. Restaurant was close to our hotel. Located on a busy street downtown, but once inside, the restaurant's atmosphere proved to be very calming and relaxed. We only ordered an entree' so if you're really hungry...order soup and salad, as well. The delicious salmon was cooked perfectly and the pork chop was very tender and juicy. We were presented a dessert in honor of our wedding anniversary. Nice touch to end a relaxed evening of celebrating our anniversary."

  • "We took our office group out to Rays in the City, a party of 6. Service was professional and attentive, and the food was fabulous. We had a range of items, from the burger, crab cake sandwich, to the seafood platter. Everything was delicious, even the side item of creamed corn was special, and memorable (creamy with bacon and savory seasonings). We had a light desert (tangerine sorbet and the amazing key lime pie with macadamia crust) and our only lament was: where is the special chocolate desert? I hope someone at Ray's reads this review because their only 1 chocolate offering was a brownie with ice cream on it. Too ho hum for such a nice place. Boss paid the check without making a grimace, so we may get to go back."

  • "My wife, 16mo old, mom and sister met here for dinner a few weeks ago. My Mom and sister were in town visiting for work. We had some difficulty getting a high chair for my son. I typically would not carry a child into this style, but I did not have much choice since they were visiting and they chose the spot. I had noted in my reservation that we needed a high chair but it still seemed to be an issue once we arrived. Overall meal was very good. I recommend this as a special occasion or if you wanting a nice dinner while staying downtown. Server was nice. We had the buffalo chips app, lobster, tuna, and crab cakes. All of it was tasty."

  • "We had a reservation, we arrived on time and they asked us to wait. After 10 mn I went to ask the status of our table and I was told it was ready. They gave us a table in the back squeezed between the sushi bar and the tables against the walls. They obviously don't care if you have a reservation and they accept too many diners. Too bad we won't come back.g"

  • "When in town for AmericasMart, my group has found this is the perfect place for supper. We were led straight to our table at our reservation time, right past a hoard of people waiting to be seated. Wonderful food, exquisite service, perfect atmosphere."

  • "Great for its proximity to Americas Mart and entertaining during market"

  • "Made a reservation while at the Americas Mart and arrived fairly exhausted after a long day. Our server was wonderful and the food & drinks were excellent! Also quickly prepared and served. We were very happy to be treated to a great dinner & great service even though we probably looked disheveled and dirty."

  • "Although busy because of the AmericasMart they are simply outstanding Abd THE place for quality seafood and sushi. It's not all seafood, not by a long shot, and it is truly exceptional."

  • "I've eaten at Rays several time when in town for Market and have always had a good experience. We went in for an early (6pm) dinner and were seated in a section with "M". The guy barely acted like he wanted to be there, never told us about the 1/2 priced wine special going on even after I told him that I would be drinking wine and the decided that after two glasses my co-worker and I must have been finished drinking because he took away our glasses eventhough we had ordered dessert. He bordered on being downright rude."

  • "We have eaten at Ray's in the City and at Ray's on the River numerous times and have never bee disappointed. It is a fun place to meet up with friends for an evening out. Food is excellent and the service is friendly and helpful. Always look forward to returning."

  • "Ray's advertised Fourth of July 1/1/2 Lb. Lobster Special for $16.95. The lobster meat was tough & chewy so we sent it back. The manager returned to say there was none left. Mind you, it's now 7PM. He offered us lobster tails instead. We gave them a try and after 2 bites, I sent mine back. It was dry & overcooked. My husband was hungry so he finished his. Ray's did not charge for MY entree but we received nothing more. On July 5th, a rep for the restaurant phoned for thank us for dining there and inquired about our experience. I was quite surprised that he had not been given a "heads up". I told him we would not be back."

  • "My wife and I went here to celebrate our 15th wedding anniversary since we were staying in downtown Atlanta. Since we had been to rays on the river and that expierence was great we thought we would get the same here. We were so wrong. Was seated promptly at our reservation time which was good but from thier it went downhill. Our waiter only visited our table 4 even though he only had one other table and it wasn't very busy. The food was subpar for the price. I ordered steak medium well and it was overcooked and had more fat on it then actual meat. My wife ordered shrimp that was undercooked. I will never go here again and will recommend that others do not as well. There were other issues but I'm running out of characters to type them"

  • "We were a party of 9 celebrating a co-worker's last day. Service was excellent, they remembered every one's order so we didn't have to guide them when the food arrived. Their Wednesday special, salmon croquettes, was so delicious. We had a fabulous experience!"

  • "I was trying to celebrate a birthday, and was surrounded by a large family birthday party with 4 children. They changed the ambience. My waiter forgot the wine and bread. Food was lukewarm. When asked, he said bread was by request. Due to the parking, I will try another location, but not this one."

  • "I was in Atlanta for a conference and one of my colleagues living in the area recommended this place. It is in a convenient nice area downtown. My wife and one year old accompanied me and they were very accommodating. Service is excellent. I chose the salmon with mashed potatoes and my wife had salmon with risotto. No complaints for either meal. We will definitely return for a few "date nights" next time we are in the area."

  • "Great food and service - definitely a great place to have a business lunch meeting. Servers were respectful and aware that a business lunch was occurring - stayed out of the way and didn't interrupt conversations. These are true professionals. Made recommendations to a mix of nationalities."

  • "I had the broiled seafood platter. It was perfect. My wife had shrimp and grits. The shrimp had not been peeled, so it made for very messy eating. But she said it was the first time she had gotten more shrimp than grits. Excellent service. Look forward to eating here again."

  • "The food and the service is good, but they keep the restaurant hot. The air condition by 8:30pm, I think was off and we left all with sweat and the windows all cloudy by sweat. It is very unusual for a seafood restaurant to keep it without the proper air conditioned temperature."
