Our family had a FABULOUS time celebrating our 40th anniversary. The squash bisque and the crab cake appetizers were outstanding. Steaks were all cooked perfectly and divine. Loved that Denver stopped by our table to greet us. Our server was the life of our party and added greatly to our pleasurable evening. We live in Boston and visit our daughter and her family 4-6 times a year. We have never visited without including a trip to Ray's over the past 4 years. Ray's is, by far, our favorite restaurant! Thank you !

We tried Ray's because we'd won a gift card. It was a little bit of a drive (we live in Sugar Land), but the area was quaint and nice. We went on a Saturday night, so understandably it was busy. There were several homecoming parties there. That said, they were really understaffed and had to squeeze us in despite the fact we'd made reservations. Again, the food was very good, but being bunched in among many large groups (it was me and my wife) made for a noisy and crowded dinner.

On Saturday night the place was SLAMMED. Noise levels were through the roof. When being seated someone else was already sitting at the table. Waited while Ray's staff had the other patron move to another table. Napkin had lipstick stains on it from a previous diner. It was very apparent, and I was surprised I had to ask for it to be replaced. Server offering bread seemed a bit confused and unsure if he was giving our table bread, or not. Ordered two salads, but only one was brought out. Finally flagged Manager? and had the other salad delivered. At entrée time, the same person who was 'forgotten' the first time, was once again left without her ordered entrée. Food was quite good, but across the board extremely disjointed service.

  • Nice dinner and 9 oz. beers

The atmosphere and food were all very nice and the service was excellent. Our group of 4 started with salads and had main courses of red fish, salmon and rib eye. For desert we shared a couple cobblers which were also very good. Unfortunately, the thing we talked about most from the dining experience was the 9 oz beer servings. I had 2 beers over the course of the evening as did another gentleman in our group and all the beer was served in 9 oz glasses instead of a pint. Most of our friends enjoy having a beer with their dinner and this will certainly influence our decision.

The disappointment with Rays centered around the service. Our waiter was always going 100 miles an hour, even when the restaurant and his tables were less than 1/2-full. After bringing our food, he never checked with us on how the food was or if we needed anything. If he did, he would have been told that the filet (which he said was all that) was overcooked. I wanted to tell our waiter, but my wife pleaded not to ("it was not that bad"). I had to flag him down to get additional drinks. The food was very good, and would be worth going back. But not with the service.

Had a great dinner Friday night with my wife and parents. Service and food was excellent! Salads where great and so were our main courses. My wife had the blackened Grouper, my mother the rib eye steak, my dad the classic hamburger and I had the surf and turf. All was great. Thanks Ray's for a great evening!

We've eaten at Ray's many times and always love it!! The food is always fresh, beautifully prepared and presented. The menu changes with the seasons and Ray uses local produce, so it's always exciting to see what's new on the menu. The bar service is excellent - I had my first Moscow Mule and it was great. Awesome bread pudding for dessert!! Wish we lived closer because I would be a Ray's several times a week!!

Decided to meet up with a girlfriend last Sat for dinner. I had a $25 gift card. Top shelf martini was 1/2 off (happy hour on a Sat) which were yummy. Ordered the Almond Crusted Red Fish and yuck - was terrible and very fishy tasting. Very disappointed but I like Ray's so mush I was willing to forgo a complaint but needed to at least let them know via this review. Hope our next visit is more FRESH and tasty (:

This place is considerably overpriced considering the quality and quantity of servings. The service is very chatty and very slow. For instance, when we ordered dessert, it was literally 20 minutes before they brought it to the table. I won't go back.

We decided to take my son for his 13th B-Day. I must say it had been a while since we had been to Rays. Let's start with the appetizer. I ordered the crab cakes. They were horrible, it taste like it was made of can crab meat, the salad, there was screw in my husbands salad, that's right a screw. We all ordered steak. The steaks we ordered 2 steaks well and 1 med/well. the steaks were over cooked and dry. I must say this was the worst dining experience, I ever had. I have eaten at Rays before and has always had a great experience. So this leads me to ask, what happened. Is it under new management .

Don't waste your time going to Ray's. Service and atmosphere were awful. Food just OK. There are way too many good restaurants in the Sugar Land/Houston area to waste your time (we were there almost 3 hours) going here. Way over-rated. Won't be back.

I love Ray's! The food quality and selection was excellent. The service was also good. My drawbacks to this particular reservation are as follows: - The room temperature was warm, almost to the point of being uncomfortable. This may have been a result of the near capacitiy seating at the time of my reservation. - The restaurant is a bit cramped during brunch hours. There wasn't much walking room between the tables and at the buffet bar.

Ray's continues to be the best restaurant, overall, in the Katy area. Some may fid it a bit out of the way, but that's a good thing. The menu, while perhaps not as diverse as some others, meets all of my expectation whether I want steak, seafood or just a burger. The service is impeccable and the atmosphere can be either romantic or jovial, you make it they way you like. Always a good experience in every respect!

Tucked at the end of a little strip of Fulshear is Ray's. It is an absolute gem with great food selections, wine, and service. A wonderful start was the cake bread with homemade butter. The bread melted in your mouth. The butter was scrumptious and makes you realize what you have been missing! I ordered the Potato Encrusted Sea Bass. It was perfectly prepared and had a delicious flavor. It was paired beautiful with a Tomato Risotto which only served to enhance the fish. We enjoyed a mushroom beggar's purse appetizer and the Banana Foster Bread pudding. Both were well prepared. My husband who loves bread pudding and bananas was in dessert heaven. We will definitely be heading back! : )

This was our second visit to Ray's (this particular visit was to celebrate a special birthday) and definitely won't be our last. On both occasions the food was faultless (quality over quantity), the servers were friendly and knowledgable, and the restaurant has a lovely unpretentious feel about it. I would also add that although we didn't use the bar area ourselves, we both noticed that, unlike some restaurants, it looked like a relaxed place to enjoy a drink without feeling squeezed into a corner. Ray's was recommended to us by fellow Brits, and we wouldn't hesitate to recommend to our friends.
