A word from Ray's Cafe
Ray's Cafe is the perfect vantage point for savoring our postcard view of Puget Sound with a micro brew in hand and a bowl of clams. The Cafe features a casual and lively atmosphere and a wide range of menu options. Open for lunch and dinner every day, the Cafe is the perfect place for kicking back and relaxing.
Our outdoor deck is the place to be for sunny day dining (Please note that we do not take reservations for our outdoor deck seating). Is it a typical grey Seattle day? Cozy up near one of our two stone fireplaces and you'll soon forget about the chilly weather outside.

Please note as of March 1 we are no longer accepting the Passport Card, instead we will be implementing our own loyalty card program. Feel free to ask us for details!

Diner Reviews
  • "This was my first time here and I have to say for the most part I was pleased. That being said, their reservation system needs to be changed. In order to sit on the outside deck, you have to make reservations for the inside and then show up about an hour before you want to eat and get on a wait list for the deck. It's horrible. We waited about 1.5 hours for the deck. I showed up 1 hour before our reservation time too. I really enjoyed the food and the view, but we spent a few hundred dollars and I think waiting that long for a table is not okay. They need to have reservable tables for the outside and people should NOT have to wait more than 15 minutes when they show up for their outside table. I am hesitant to even return based on this."

  • "This place is the Nordstrom of restaurants. It was our anniversary and we requested a window seat. Though we were originally seated in the middle of the room, we were moved to the window within five minutes. We also received a free dessert. The service was top notch, the view is lovely and the food is pretty darn good too, especially seafood."

  • "This is a gorgeous spot for taking out of town guests/family. The chowder is fabulous. The food over all is great but I seem to leave feeling it could be even better. Had the halibut the last time and it was a bland dish. Done well but just lacked pizzaz."

  • "Rays has a great staff of friendly customer oriented people who made our visit memorable! They went out of their way to meet our wishes! The drinks were good and food excellent! We felt the pricing to be more than fair for the meal we ordered. Thanks for an awesome dinner!"

  • "A must for out of town guests and an occasional must for local especially in the summer."

  • "Salmon was poor quality and grossly overpriced. Unless your table is in the first row, you can forget the view. Service was fine, if a little rushed."

  • "Between the four of us we had the Sable Fish, Crab cakes, King Salmon and Scallops. Also enjoyed a variety of salads which were a great mix of flavors and textures. Our waiter recommended since I always eat Salmon at home to try the Sable Fish. It was amazing and I will get it again! The crab cakes and scallops were excellent as well. Good blend of flavors."

  • "Wild King Salmon salad was excellent. Salmon was flavorful and moist."

  • "We went to Ray's Cafe for a family birthday dinner (party of 8). We at first were seated in a fairly closed-in area (northeast corner?) next to a large table of loud, happily 'inebriated' diners. We requested to move out into the main seating area -- and after about a 10 minute wait we were relocated to a much nicer (read: quieter) table. Kudos to the wait staff for making that happen for us. And the food was excellent."

  • "A perfect dining experience! My mom and I had a table outside, and enjoyed Ray's outstanding seafood. We both had a great time and will visit again."

  • "Sable fish was great, halibut a bit overcooked, scallops were perfectly cooked but accompanying sauce had an off-putting taste almost like the sauce had been burnt which detracted from the delicacy of the scallops. Desserts and dessert cocktails excellent. Good and friendly service, great views"

  • "Nothing better than the outdoor patio on a beautiful Seattle day!"

  • "Wonderful experience about a $25 cab ride from downtown Seattle. Friendly service and nicely prepared food. Clams were great and the scallops were some of the best we can recall."

  • "Food was very good, service was a little slow. The diet coke we asked for when the soup was brought to our table was delivered as we were finishing our meal 30 minutes later, with no apology, just a "here you go.""

  • "I have eaten here several times over the course of 15+ years and it is always great. Being from out of state, it's good to know that there is a reliably great restaurant to visit and Ray's always lives up to the memories of my last visit."

  • "Love Ray's Cafe. Great food, service and the view is so relaxing."

  • "I used to bring visitors that I wanted to impress to West Seattle and Salty's. However, at Salty's I always felt like I was being ripped off -- the price is simply too high for what you get. However, after eating at Ray's, I can confidently report that the food at Ray's is much better than at Salty's. While Ray's lacks the iconic Seattle skyline view, at Ray's you get an overall better experience due to the tastier food and attentive service."

  • "Visiting from Tucson, we wanted to find a good seafood restaurant frequented by the locals- and Rays Boathouse did not disappoint! We made reservations and were seated right away even though the place was packed. The view of the harbor is fantastic! We started with the Crab dip & Clam chowder. Both were unique And delicious! As were each of our entrees- Scallops and Halibut. All in all an excellent experience and I'd love to return if possible."

  • "The food was fantastic! Lots of great seafood options. I would recommend trying the clams. The view is amazing, patio is first come first serve but the inside has lots of windows for a reservation. Reservations are highly recommended."

  • "Great views on a sunny day, sitting on the deck. more than makes up for the just ok food. seafood fettuccine was overpriced and bland. crab cakes were ok. that seems to be theme for the food - ok."

  • "Our family of seven enjoyed a 50th birthday celebration early on a Sunday evening . Great food excellent service! We would celebrate with you again. It was a bit too loud for us is all, but still very memorable. Both 7 and 1o year old kids had fun and ate very well. The broccolini was a big hit with one! An added hit was our charming smiling and hard working server."

  • "Great food, great view and service! Wanted to sit outside with reservation, but an extra 30 minutes. That's ok though, it was still wonderful! We showed up with 6 people when I only made a reservation for 5 people and they accommodated us right away! Great job! This was for a baby shower and was so glad we picked this restaurant!"

  • "Lucky to have a beautiful night and availability of an outdoor table at Ray's Café. Great views over the water and friendly staff make for an enjoyable time. The food was also great, along with the local beer selection. Reservations are only for inside tables but we requested an outdoor table and were accommodated with a 15 minute wait. Definitely a great place for out of town guests!"

  • " Entertaining a large party, Ray's Cafe was the perfect setting to introduce guests from out of town to Seattle. The food was exemplary, as always, and the staff was courteous and highly efficient. Very child friendly too (1,5,6 year-olds). Thank you for another wonderful experience."

  • "As usual, the view was awesome, food fantastic, and service great. What's not to love about this place? I can walk there from my house, which I plan on doing again this summer. Haven't eaten downstairs, but the remodel makes it look like where I should be for my next very special occasion."

  • "I dine at Ray's Cafe once or twice a year when I spend the night at Shilshole Marina. While the food is still very good and I can always find a nice wine on the list, the ambiance and the service are not what they used to be. The Cafe seems to have become the "kids' table" for Ray's - lots of families with very active small children - and the service is aimed at feeding the kiddies and turning the tables quickly. Maybe next time I'll trying dining downstairs to see if that's a place where I can have a really good meal and linger over a bottle of wine before walking back to the boat."

  • "Ray's cafe is the place I always choose to take my out of town guests when they arrive in Seattle. A walk through the grounds at The Locks, and dinner on the deck at Rays makes for a perfect Seattle summer evening. As the 21 year old son of my friends from the Midwest summed it up, while sipping his cold beer and looking out at the sun going down behind the Olympics, "I feel so incredibly lucky to be right here, right now.""
