We hadn't been back to Ray's boathouse in years but it lived up to my memories of it. Took out of town visitors who love seafood and it didn't disappoint. We have oysters and calamari to start. Next entrees of sablefish and sea scallops. The preparation was unique but let the good ingredients shine through. We'll be back!

When ever I have a first time (or infrequent ) Seattle visitor, I take them to Ray's for it's food, atmosphere, view and great staff, in no particular order. The fresh seafood is so well done and the presentation is fantastic. I will always feel good about taking a client, friend and loved one to Ray's for what I feel is the best casual, yet formal and some what sophisticated place to eat in Seattle

The restaurant was nice and very good customer service. The food was overpriced. My wife ordered the top sirloin and crab leg and she only ate half of it. She said the only good part was the crab leg and mashed potatoes. We also shared a bowl of clam chowder that didn't taste like clam chowder at all. Like I said nice place but not as good as a expected for how much it cost.

Arrived and we're seated right away however Server seemed to forget we were there as she attended to several tables that were sat after us, but had larger parties. It took over an hour to get our food after ordering and while it was good, it was not worth the price. The tables are very close together and do not allow for any conversational privacy. We went for our anniversary and we're not super impressed.

My girlfriend and I went to Ray's Boathouse for our anniversary dinner. We had reservations for two and were seated quickly. The seating however was next to an exit door and less than ideal for what appeared to be a nice dining room and our special occasion. We sat next to two couples who were loud. The wait staff was nice but didn't seem to be as attentive as we liked with our drinks glasses were empty and we had to wait a while to order food. The food was okay and I was expecting better for the price we paid for dinner. I had the steak and shrimp and my steak came already cut up which tells me that they don't know how to cook a medium steak without cutting into it. I've had many friends highly recommend but I wasn't impressed.

I was so hoping to impress a dear friend with a great seafood dinner for his one night in town. It turned out to be a disaster. After we were initially seated it took at least 15 minutes for water while we looked over the very limited menu. One side of the menu is totally devoted to drinks and wine and the other is for the actual food. I find that strange considering this was a place supposedly specializing in seafood. Soon after we received out bread and water a fire alarm went off and it was loud on a level I can't describe. The staff said we could stay at first but within a few minutes changed their minds and made us leave. I was back to square one in my car looking for a place to eat for us in a new city I'm not familiar. Awful.

The view from Ray's is spectacular. The food is good, but not particularly note-worthy. For the prices you should get blown away. My caveat is that we were there for restaurant week, but if the place can't make good food when it's trying to impress people to come back what is it going to be like on a regular day.

My husband and I came to the Pacific Northwest from Texas to celebrate our wedding anniversary. Rays had great reviews so we took a chance and we are so glad we did. Staff was amazing from hostess, to bartender to server. And our table had a nice card signed by the staff waiting for us! We ordered dessert which also came with a decorative "Happy Anniversary". We felt so special! The food was wonderful and they even made some switches for me since I'm allergic to mushrooms. We had the mussels, salmon, halibut, and the banana bomb. It was all fantastic! If you are in the Seattle area, we highly recommend Rays. We hope to be back one of these days soon!

This was my first time dining at Ray's Boathouse. I had ordered the duck confit dish for Seattle Restaurant Week. Not only were the duck almost invisible and the dish is basically beans, the beans were not all cooked through. When the waiter was informed, he asked if he can bring me a replacement, I declined, but he took my plate away and I never saw it again. I thought he would pack it for me, but he did not. I was surprised when I was still charged for the dish even though I only took 3 bites out of it and the waiter took the plate away without packing it up for me. The waiter was pleasant and courteous, I just felt the situation should have been better handled for a better dining experience.

We try to dine at RB at least twice a year, often during Dine Around. Our experience this time was very disappointing. The pros Great service Beautiful view Good wine choices by the glass The Cons The meal For my starter, I ordered the stuffed peppers. Couldn't shake their vinegar flavor the entire evening My entree was a mediocre ling cod. So sad because it's one of my favorite fish. The tomato sauce was bland. It lacked salt abs herbs/ garlic and was thin. The fennel slices were oversized, raw, and not at all flavorful. The tirimazu was also blan. It did not have any rich flavor of chocolate or coffee. The chocolate dust on top nearly choked me. Not a great ending for an underwhelming meal.

Some reviewer said about Restaurant Week in Seattle that the restaurants tend to put their worst foot forward. Unfortunately, Ray's reminded me of that comment. The RW entrees, in particular, were lackluster, and the tiramisu dessert was somewhat lame. The smoked salmon appetizer was great though, as was the wine. And I know Rays does wonderful things on its usual menu. They also did not have the usual valet parking which seems less than nice.

We were staying in downtown Seattle, so I was a little hesitant on going to a restaurant that was 20 minutes outside the city. When we finally arrived, our jaws were wide open for the first 30 minutes and we couldn't put away our cameras/phones. We got there 45 minutes before sunset, and it was one of the best I'd ever seen...anywhere! The food was pretty good and the bartender was overworked and short with us, but we didn't care. The view is what made this place. If I come back to Seattle, I'm definitely making a trip back to Ray's Boathouse.

Our family recently celebrated a special birthday at Ray's. The food was delicious, the view of the Olympics sunset was beautiful and our server was quite capable and friendly. Unfortunately, we had to wait 35 minutes for our entrees to arrive after salad plates were cleared, and our waiter was absorbed with other tables during this period. When you're hungry and trying to keep kids from spiraling toward poor behavior, this feels like an eternity to sit with dinner rolls and empty glasses. Our waiter volunteered to subtract the cost of one appetizer to compensate for the long wait, which was the right thing to do. All good restaurants have occasional glitches like this.

We chose Ray's for a special birthday and they did a great job of making it special, with a birthday card at the table and custom artwork on the dessert we ordered. Food was excellent and server was very knowledgable. On her recommendation I tried sablefish for the first time; very tasty and well prepared. The entire reason for choosing Ray's was so wife could have king crab legs. They were hard to find anywhere else, but she was not disappointed at Ray's. It was a great evening. We enjoyed it thoroughly.

I must say that Ray's Boathouse has a great view right down by the water. Unfortunately, that has nothing to do with the actual restaurant. That was mother nature's doing. The first thing that kind of put me off at Ray's Boathouse was the tepid water that they serve you when you sit down - no ice, just tepid tap water. The second thing I noticed was when a member of our party ordered a soda. It came in an 8oz bottle. I have never seen an 8oz bottle, but it told me two things - One - there are no free refills and Two - this place is really frugal. I had their sirloin and prawns. The steak was good, albeit, small. You'll notice that the menu does not specify the size of the cut; probably because it's the smallest they could find.

Every major U.S. city has a Ray's equivalent. Best local fish; a reasonable tho not incredible wine list; well trained staff; predictable quality. We like it (because we're serious fish eaters). We had dinner in the more formal restaurant and returned on a Sunday afternoon to Ray's Cafe for lunch. Fabulous location on Shilshole Bay. We're San Franciscans and Ray's can certainly be compared to good traditional fish houses anywhere.
