My boyfriend and I went to Ray's for a romantic dinner, and we were not disappointed. We got there just after sunset, and sat in a table facing the water. Watched a few boats float by the window as we shared two fantastic entrees: the sirloin with jumbo prawns, and the king salmon. The server was polite and attentive without being too formal. Very happy!

I must say that Ray's Boathouse has a great view right down by the water. Unfortunately, that has nothing to do with the actual restaurant. That was mother nature's doing. The first thing that kind of put me off at Ray's Boathouse was the tepid water that they serve you when you sit down - no ice, just tepid tap water. The second thing I noticed was when a member of our party ordered a soda. It came in an 8oz bottle. I have never seen an 8oz bottle, but it told me two things - One - there are no free refills and Two - this place is really frugal. I had their sirloin and prawns. The steak was good, albeit, small. You'll notice that the menu does not specify the size of the cut; probably because it's the smallest they could find.

We went to Ray's for our anniversary, after work on a week night. They accepted a late reservation, and as we warned them ahead of time that this was for a special occasion, they added special touches that really made it nice. It was a quiet night (not a full house), the servers were very attentive, the food excellent, and the overall evening very nice. Would recommend again.

My wife and I went to Ray's to celebrate our first wedding anniversary. Overall it was memorable dining experience. The view alone is stunning. Our waiter was very helpful in assisting us choosing the right wine. Ray's wine list is the largest and best wine I have ever seen. The food is fresh and delicious. I had the King Salmon and my wife had the crab cakes. Dessert at Ray's is not to be missed. We had a wonderful evening and will return to Ray's Boathouse again soon.

our guests from Chicago were amazed with the view- the beverages were outstanding, all of the selected plates were delicious and our server was sensational. We'd bring out of town guests to Ray's again most definitely. We hadn't been to Ray's for at least 10 years because we liver in eastern WA. Our dinner last Sunday was just like we remembered Ray's 10 years ago.

We recently went to Ray's Boathouse for our anniversary dinner and found that it had been renovated and the menu updated. We had not been there since the restaurant was updated a few years back. The food preparations were odd and seem to be from an amateur chef who was trying to impress with the "art" of food rather than taste first. The dining room was stark painted glossy navy, very little art, tables were the same from before the renovation which did not fit the modern look they were trying to achieve.

we were a bit disappointed with the prix fixe offerings. the pork was dry and the tuna really more raw than "seared" would lead one to believe. The waiter was not familiar with the prix fixe menu which was the reason we went on this particular night.

Unfortunate dinner experience with very slight portions on the tuna and salmon apetizers for the expense. Nice menu selection offerings attracted us as well as the location. Our bad luck was earlier traffic congestion which prevented us from making our earlier reservations. Ray's was wonderful about moving our reservation time. Good service.

As always, Ray's does not disappoint. First time at the Boathouse rather than the VERY busy cafe upstairs. We were seated by the window on the water with a stunning view across the sound to the Olympics and the ensuing sunset. Food was well prepared with good portions. Not too small, not too large. Halibut was very good and I enjoyed the Sablefish in Sake though it was a little sweet in spots and a little too salty in others. I would opt for the smoked version next time just to taste the difference. Clams in wonderful broth with a little kick to it that was quite good and the crab salad was excellent full of crab, rather than greens! Will definitely be back as we love the ambience and location.

Ray's is a great local favorite! Food flavor is wonderful, presentation is great, service excellent, and view is outstanding! Only remember when booking on open table that there is an upstairs and down stairs restaurant. We forgot and most recently ended up with reservations in the restaurant opposite where we intended to dine. Not the end of the world, but I had "cost conscious " visitors who were not used to being in a restaurant with the prices down stairs. Oh well - I enjoyed it as always! YUM!

Celebrating a special occasion led the four of us to Ray's this late summer....didn't think much of it as it isn't the "newest hot spot" we arrived. From the moment we arrived we were treated like "gold" and the service and food were amazing. They didn't miss a beat on timing, attending to everyone's needs and making you feel special. Made me think....I am going to go to Ray's more often as it shouldn't be saved for when we just have out of town guests. It is a place to celebrate just being a Seattetlite! Thank's Ray's!

Having been to Ray's previously, it was a real treat for us to return to the recently renovated Boathouse dining area with a sleek bar in the middle. We liked the arrangement, style and atmosphere of the new design. The food was excellent and the service outstanding. I had requested a table for 2 with a window view and was pleasantly surprised that the request was granted. Sometimes restaurants will just ignore these requests, but not Ray's. They were very accommodating. When in town, we'll make another reservation for this fine dining establishment.

My wife and I celebrated our 35th wedding anniversary at Ray's Boathouse and enjoyed one of the best dining experiences that we have ever had. The western view of the sun filtering through the rain clouds as it set over the Olympic Mountains was mesmerizing. Our waiter was very attentive and helpful in making our entree selections and wine parings. My wife has the Alaska white salmon and it was prepared to perfection. I ordered the rib eye steak and it was the best meal that I have ever enjoyed. Ray’s Boathouse has always been one of our favorite places to celebrate special occasions, and this most recent experience will defiantly keep them on our list.

While the ambience, view and food are all excellent, our recent experience at Ray's in the dining room was marred by the fact that the entire dining experience took way too long, starting with our initial contact with our server, drinks, appetizers, main course. It was as if the goal was to keep us waiting in between every course as long as humanly possible. It wouldn't have been as big of a deal had we not had our seven-year-old with us, who was getting very tired by the time our main course came.

The food, service, and ambience, especially that awesome sunset was worth the long cab ride from our downtown hotel. My girlfriend and I both enjoyed our dinner immensely! She had halibut and I had Sablefish--both were excellent! We also ordered some prawns as an appetizer. The prawns came with some hummus and some garlic/potato spread that I don't recall the (German?) name for but it was also delicious. They also list a suggested wine pairing for each dish, which we opted for and both of us enjoyed them very much. We topped it off with chocolate cake and a tawny port. Yum! Oh, and the butter for the bread seemed unusually salty--but in a good way. Possibly large grain seasalt? I don't know, but it was also very good (the bread we put it on was only ok--that is the only remotely negative thing I have to say about the whole experience).

I'm a great fan of Ray's and go there frequently. This time our waitress seemed distracted, was not friendly (I don't want overly friendly wait persons, but this one was aloof), so that was a minor flaw. All our food was just fine as usual, except for the asparagus, which I ordered as a side dish. It was way too salty and way too tough. I could hardly cut it with my knife. I brought an out-of-town guest on this visit, and he raved about the view, the ambience, and the cuisine.

At a restaurant like Ray's Boathouse one doesn't expect to have to ask for bread to be brought to the table. Not to have the waitress look taken aback when you tell her you've been coming to the restaurant for years. Something like, "Welcome back!" or, "Obviously you enjoy it so you keep coming back." The staff that night seemed very young and "unseasoned". I'm used to a staff that's more mature and has an easy rapport with guests and is comfortable around a diverse culture. (Which is why my family started coming to Ray's when we were turned away at the door of Hiram's even though we had a reservation. All those many years ago.)

Our waiter was so "tourist" driven that he missed us mentioning that we were locals who had dined at Rays for decade. We had to ask for water and bread, he said yes the mussels were Penn Cove they were not...small vs LARGE. When reminded that these were not the mussels we wanted he never offered a comp dessert or to take them off the bill. Other food was good, but he was a huge disappointment. Poor tourists to have to endure all his fake enthusiasm when the food and view speak for themselves.
