Ray's BoathouseOur waiter John L. knew itOur waiter John L. knew it was our 28th anniversary and did everything he could to make it special for us. Way to go John!!! The food had complexity and depth of flavors. Unique and delicious...we had a great time. Thanks Ray's Boathouse for a special dining experience.6/15/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent food and service,Excellent food and service, I will alway return on every visit to Seattle6/13/2013 12:00:00 AMRay's is Back!In some respects ray's is better than before. We had the copper river 3 course special dinner-- a sockeye complimented by artichokes, a king with golden beets, and a blueberry tart dessert. Delicious flavors. Creative preparation, the new chef has taken things to another level! Richard did a great job of taking care of our wine preference. Exceptional all around. Service was superb and friendly!6/13/2013 12:00:00 AMfor a happy birthdayWe went to celebrate a birthday and every part of the meal was perfect. The waiter was attentive but not obtrusive. The food was perfectly prepared and delicious. Servings were just right.6/12/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat first time visit, viewGreat first time visit, view wonderful, my scallops were cooked and served to perfection.
My husband had a hard time sharing even a small taste of his Halibut. We will be back6/12/2013 12:00:00 AMA lovely eveningOur server was very accommodating - brought a hamburger from the cafe for our seafood disdaining elementary student, and switched side vegetables for my mother, very graciously and with speed. It was a lovely evening. The background music was a tad loud for my mother, who wears hearing aids in both ears, but it didn't mar the evening.6/11/2013 12:00:00 AMScenic Special OccasionWe enjoyed the view from our corner window table while celebrating my husband's birthday. The service was excellent, the food was wonderful (though the roasted, but cold tomatoes on the goat cheese salad could have been left off with better results), the wine selection was great. The cost was very high, but based on the other attributes it was worth it though only likely to be repeated for special occasions.6/5/2013 12:00:00 AMSuperb service and deliciousSuperb service and delicious food. The remodel really opens up the place. What a perfect restaurant!6/4/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat food and viewBrought two out of town guest that came into town for training out for dinner. It was amazing food and wine, so much so that the next morning they raved about the evening to my associates. Big hit, thanks for the experience!6/4/2013 12:00:00 AMThe best Salmon to be foundIf you like salmon or halibut this is the place to go in Seattle. Especially this time of the year when Copper River salmon is on the menu. Good wine list and the redo this year added a new bar area. Only down side is it is pricy, expect to spend $100. a person with drinks.6/3/2013 12:00:00 AMService and table-settingService and table-setting were not as good as the good food and breathtaking views at Rays. Nonetheless, it certainly is a place to go for a special occasion of any sort or a more sophisticated dinner.6/2/2013 12:00:00 AMAn absolutely amazing meal.An absolutely amazing meal. the service staff were very friendly and engaged, and offered help with the wine selection. This dinner was one of my best Seattle visit memories. Thanks!6/2/2013 12:00:00 AMAs good as ever. The smokedAs good as ever. The smoked sablefish and the sake kasu preparation were wonderful. With a view table,
This place can't be beat!6/1/2013 12:00:00 AMRays is backFirst time eating there after the remodel. A big change from the tired 1970's look. Food was great... Fresh Salmon was on the menu, service was good though it seems she got my medrare order mixed up with my wife's medium order. But both salmons were delicious as was the tuna appetizer and apricot salad. New paint, new plates, bar area seperated from dining tables, same amazing view! Was our anniversary and they mentioned it and were on top of my lactose intolerance issues.
Rays has been a favorite of ours for over ten years and nice to see updated without loosing character.6/1/2013 12:00:00 AMGood but expensiveUsually I would rate Ray's Boathouse food as Very Good, but there are lapses. My companion had the sable fish and really like it. I started with the northwest chowder and found it superlative but followed it with the mushroom crepes which were bland, tough and rather mushy - a disappointment. Our wine was German riesling which was okay but far, far too expensive for value. Ray's has started charging $1.50 for "artisan" bread, which I find quite odd, considering how expensive the rest of the food is. I consider this a tawdry way of increasing profit -- like cheap breakfast places sneaking in outrageous coffee prices. The sun shades on the windows need to be more effective for late afternoon and early evening glare.5/28/2013 12:00:00 AMReliable Ray'sRay's is a favorite dining destination no matter the occasion. The service, food and view are all superb. The addition of small plates to the menu adds flexibility in terms of portion size as well as the ability to sample a variety of different foods.5/27/2013 12:00:00 AMROOM WITH A VIEWRay's Boathouse is a real gem in Northwest dining. . . the ambience, the view with various sailboats and crusiers entering and exiting the canal locks, are compared to none. Delicious food, well presented by courteous, well versed staff was perfect -- definitely make a visit soon to the newly designed bar and friendly restaurant on the water. You won't be disappointed.5/26/2013 12:00:00 AMworth a visitGreat view of the water and nice, comfortable setting. The service was attentive and the food is surprisingly good and even has options for the non-seafood eater like myself.5/25/2013 12:00:00 AMA Journey Worth ItLots of restaurants closer to the downtown hotels, but this place is worth the cab ride. Modern decor, gourmet dishes, good wine, and friendly staff. Never felt rushed and you do want to linger a while for the scenic view.5/21/2013 12:00:00 AMRedone but just as goodRestaurant refurbished but still has freshest fish right on the Sound5/20/2013 12:00:00 AMChange is not always betterI have used Ray's as my special dining sites for visitors to Seattle for years. The views are spectacular and the service is good. The restaurant closed for a major remodel from its classic cedar wood interior to a new look that I describe as 1960s nautical with walls with the upper half white and the lower half a dark blue. Interestingly, the color change makes the venue colder. We had sable fish and newly arrived Copper River Salmon, a long time specialty of this site. This is the first time I have had the wine be cheaper that the entree. Presumably to pay for the remodel, prices have escalated markedly. There was not an entree under $37. Bread for the table was extra. Portion sizes are nicely European. No longer my favorite.5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat Stop and great service!Very nice presentation and delicious food.
A little on the pricey side but worth it for my clients.5/15/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat food, service and foodAs always Ray's is an excellent place for dining. The remodel is lovely and the food, service, and view are outstanding.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMMother's DayPerhaps it was being with my handsome son who lives in Seattle, but Ray's made the drive from Bellingham to Seattle for brunch very worthwhile! My husband, son, and I enjoyed sharing the Hangtown fry, wild mushroom frittata, and the Northwest scramble. The complimentary mimosa and glass of orange juice started our brunch on a festive note, and the croissants and pear muffins were delicious. With the Mother's Day crowd, it would have been nice to have quieter or no background music, so that we could have heard each other a bit more easily, but I realize that I am especially sensitive to noise, and I did not ask the waitstaff to lower the sound level.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMSpecial OccasionSeafood at its best, with the incredible view of water and sunset over the Olympics.
The value is good, but gratuity is added (I like to feel I tip, not pay... But oh well). Still
the fact my wife felt special was priceless.
Just know the price of ambience does get inflated by about 25% more than an equally
nice meal downtown.5/10/2013 12:00:00 AMRay's is better than ever!Ray's has changed quite a bit recently, but all for the better. Not that Rays was ever bad. But the renovations look great and the menu was unbelievable. We had the best lobster we've ever had. And the service was perfect. The view was perfect... I guess maybe that's the only complaint is the sun coming in was a bit blinding... but hey, its a water side seat at dinner time... you gotta live with some sun. This was a really great dinner.5/9/2013 12:00:00 AMJust deliciousWe had the sablefish, all 4 of us. Everything was cooked perfectly. The fish melted in our mouths, everything seasoned to perfection. The waiter recommended this dish and we were quite grateful!5/5/2013 12:00:00 AMDelightful dinner at Ray's!As scenic beauty increases, the quality of food and service often declines. This was not the case at Ray's, where the fish was perfectly cooked, the service friendly and accommodating, and the somelier accessible and helpful in selecting an appropriate bottle. It's a pricey meal but perfect for a special occasion.5/5/2013 12:00:00 AMFantastic mealMy wife and I went to Ray's for our anniversary. We hadn't been there in years, but it had always been good. We were wonderfully surprised at how great our meal was. The flavors were amazing, and they've really stepped up their game from good to great. We will definitely not be waiting so long to return.5/5/2013 12:00:00 AMIt was our first time in Seattle,It was our first time in Seattle, and Ray's was clearly the high point, recommended by a friend and Seattle seasoned pro.
Outstanding food and service, and the most beautiful views we have ever seen in a restaurant, bar none, sunset over Puget Sound.
Have to see to believe. Amazing, delicious seafood, and we are New Yorkers, and pretty hard to please. Just can't say enough about Ray's. Oh, and let's not forget romantic!5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMEnjoying Ray's for 38 years!Whether for a special occasion or just a Sunday Brunch and Bloody Mary, Ray's has always delivered with great seafood, ambience, customer service and a spectacular view of Puget Sound during our 38 years of marriage. A Seattle landmark restaurant that maintains its fine tradition of customer service and culinary standards. Thank you for another great evening.5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMWe enjoyed the revamped menuWe enjoyed the revamped menu and food. The food was very seasonal, creative, and flavorful. In addition the staff was very friendly and the service was stellar.5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat food, great view, new look.Dined at Ray's on the first sunny, summer-like day in Seattle in many months, and it was nearly perfect. The newly-renovated interior adds a stylish new bar with a view and updated seating. The food is still great - northwest seafood with a modern presentation. And the view, especially on a clear evening, is outstanding.5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMThe Best View of Puget SoundSo amazing to watch the ships . . . even saw a sea lion. Went with 2 other couples had to switch chairs during dessert so that everyone could enjoy the view.
Service was impeccable .. . . attentive; but, not over-bearing
Everyone enjoyed their entrees. The lamb shank was melt-in-your-mouth tender and be sure to save room for dessert.4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMOne of my very favorite SeattleOne of my very favorite Seattle area restaurants. Awesome dining selections, great bar, very complete wine selection, and a breathtaking view of Puget Sound and the Olympic Peninsula beyond. I always make sure and visit Ray's on every visit to the Puget Sound area.4/25/2013 12:00:00 AMRay's is Excellent! My group was very impressed with Ray's. We went on a beautiful, clear sky evening. One of my group members who was visiting from New York said that he never liked Seattle until he saw the view from Ray's.
The food was superb. I will certainly bring Ray's more business.4/24/2013 12:00:00 AMRay's is now RadiantThe newly reopened Boathouse at Ray's is a treasure. World class setting with the dropdead iconic Olympic Mountain views hovering over the sound. Attentive and knowledgable service. Seasonaly fabulous food. A new menu. A fresh, refined look. Classy and elegant. We had a lovely Birthday dinner there and will come back often.4/24/2013 12:00:00 AMLoved being right on the water.Loved being right on the water. Food would've been 4 stars if the sablefish in sake/soy wasn't so salty. The salmon was delicious.4/24/2013 12:00:00 AMMy wife and I had a very goodMy wife and I had a very good time, food very taste and we are looking forward for a
next time. thank you. chau4/23/2013 12:00:00 AMMussels were not quite freshMussels were not quite fresh enough, had a slight off taste, Entree - (halibut with pea vines) was drenched with too much oil.4/22/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food and service wereThe food and service were amazing! And the view was spectacular!4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMWe dined from the appetizerWe dined from the appetizer and small plates menu, which was not only considerably less expensive but allowed for variety in what we tried. Everything we had was delicious and beautifully presented. We were very happy.4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMAmazing food and service andAmazing food and service and a great overall experience. The staff was kind and very helpful. Also the cab program to downtown hotels is an added perk. The tuna poke and sablefish were to die for.4/19/2013 12:00:00 AMI think the remodel is a littleI think the remodel is a little underwhelming. It seems like they were trying to be more contemporary, but it competes with the building shell.4/18/2013 12:00:00 AMLike butter...PERFECTLY!Everything was perfect for my husband's birthday. We had the mussels and I had the sable fish and husband had the halibut. All were perfect. The sable fish is quite possibly THE best thing I've ever eaten. And the service was great! John was knowledgeable and helpful and honest. We will ask for him again.4/18/2013 12:00:00 AMRay's Boathouse is an incredibleRay's Boathouse is an incredible restaurant. They serve delicious, creative drinks, including a killer one that has grapefruit and rosemary. The appetizers we had were all excellent...calamari, roasted beets/goat cheese, brussel sprouts (yes, even a veggie can be good), crab cakes, shrimp, roasted artichokes. Dinner was fabulous as well. I had scallops that would melt in your mouth. The olive bread was delicious too. Ray's makes housemade caramels too, which were the best I ever had. But besides awesome food and drink, Ray's sits right on the water and is designed so every table has a fantastic view. It was a lovely evening, and I can't wait until I go there again. The service was impeccable and friendly too!4/17/2013 12:00:00 AMWe thoroughly enjoyed ourWe thoroughly enjoyed our meal at Ray's Boathouse. We enjoyed our fresh Halibut and Salmon cooked to perfection and seasoned well. Our starters of preserved tomato and goat cheese salad and mussels were also very good. The portions were fine for us. This is a special occasion restaurant with a spectacular view.4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent view as always withExcellent view as always with great food as well. We had guests with us from out of town, so they really enjoyed it. Food was good, but menu seemed a bit limited from what it has been in the past. The sides that came with the entrees weren't as good as the previous ones. The remodel looked good, but I don't know why so much of the restaurant was taken with a bar.4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat for special occasionsExcellent service (ask for Jonathan), and the new glass-walled bar is spectacular.4/9/2013 12:00:00 AMWe have enjoyed Ray's forWe have enjoyed Ray's for years. The food, service, and atmosphere are excellent. It seems to be pricier than before.
Definitely a great restaurant.
Wayne Johnson has another successful menu.4/7/2013 12:00:00 AM
