  • "We went to Ray's for Seattle Restaurant Week. The selection of food had something for ever palate. The view was beautiful. Have been here before and would definitely return."

  • "Ray's has been a spot I like to bring out of town clients in the past. Pros: Wine List is quite reasonable now with a rather small mark-up on some great Washington wine offerings now. Deserts were good. Cons: Food quality has decreased. This last visit I had a tasteless piece of fish and extremely salty vegetables. Others of the group were not impressed with the food quality and taste which is a change from in the past. It was also disconcerting to be in a formal dining room next to a loud 6-month old at one window table and a 2-year old running around the room from another table. Since the remodel, no more table clothes in the dining room even with $40 entrees. Summary: Ray's is no longer a spot I can bring clients regularly."

  • "It's been a while since we've been to Ray's so I took my husband for a special birthday dinner. It's a definite step up from usual Friday night date night eateries. The service is excellent: quick, but not rushed; courses served with perfect timing; dirty dishes whisked away promptly; wait staff checking on us regularly, but not to the point of annoyance. The food is also wonderful: beautiful presentation, salmon & scallops cooked just slightly rare to keep them tender & moist, salad crisp & cold, oysters very fresh, portions generous but not heavy. And, of course, the view is beautiful. Great place for special occasions!"

  • "Ray's is one of the stand-by scenic Puget Sound seafood restaurants. It did not disappoint."

  • "We took somene from out of town. We hadn't been there since before the fire, You had three for $28 menu. It didn't appeal to any of us. No problem, we asked for the regular menu. I can't remember going to a restaurant with less items available. The waitress suggested the sable fish and it was great. However until you expand your menu, we won't be back."

  • "Wonderful food and service on top of the beautiful view on the lake."

  • "I haven't been to Ray's for a long time and made the mistake of taking a friend there for dinner. The food can only be described as terrible. I order the King Salmon. I only took more than one bite as I didn't want to ruin the evening for my friend and there wasn't much of anything else on the plate except for a few nasty tasting beans. After discussing the meal with my friend today (a week later) I know that he did not enjoy his meal either. He was disappointed with his entree of a small piece of salmon and beef. The green salad he ordered consisted of a few pieces of lettuce and 2 croutons. The service and view were excellent. I wish they would add more selections. In the somewhat distant past the food was really wonderful."

  • "Menu Selection was to me. Needed more taditional fish dishes for my taste and desires"
    Dined on 4/4/2014
  • "Very Expensive there are very few items in the menu but even like that they are not perfect. Took to long to get our table so we had to eat at the bar that and there was only one barman taking care of it on a Friday night. They did not offer us bread."

  • "We had a supreme experience at Ray's. Our server was awesome. The wine selection was great. The view, spectacular. I was jut a little disappointed with the steak. I didn't find it to be anything special and have had better at cheaper restaurants. However, I dont think Ray's is a steakhouse. our waiter mentioned that their specialty dish has won awards and hasn't changed from the menu in years and years. So on that note, I blame myself for ordering steak at a seafood restaurant. I do plan on going back and I will get seafood next. Everything else was top notch."

  • "discovered many old favorites that had disappeared from the menu had actually migrated to the menu of the Cafe upstairs - and can still be ordered downstairs. So upstairs has mussels in Thai red curry vs a less funky version in the boathouse, calamari are fried instead of sauteed, dhowder is New England vs the boathouse's fabulous razor clam verson finalized at tableside, etc etc. IT'S ALL GOOD!"

  • "First, let me say that it's a pleasure to be in a restaurant that isn't blaring music so loud that I can't talk to my guest in a normal voice. So many new restaurants are just too loud now, and we are uncomfortable, especially with guests who are hearing impaired. Quiet is wonderful! We both had the special, halibut. I hoped for more green something, though. I ordered a crab salad for a starter, thinking I would get mostly green salad, and was surprised that it a full meal of mostly crab. It was wonderful, but I took half of it home and half the halibut home. We also ordered bread and would not do that again. Something interesting and whole grain I would pay for, but I don't think crackers I have at home or cheap rolls are worth paying for."

  • "Spectacular dining experience! We were in Seattle for just a few days and we were glad that some friends recommended Ray's Boathouse to us. We went to celebrate my husband's birthday and had a great dining experience. From appetizers and drinks to fabulous entrees, we were very happy with our visit. We will be back!"

  • "Four golf buddies including two from back east enjoyed one of Seattle's iconic restaurants, with good drinks, halibut caught that morning and very nice service. Only thing missing was a window seat."

  • "I had such high hopes for the food. It had been years since I had last been to Ray's and I remember that the ambience and the views were great! However, this last visit was rather disappointing. Our waiter appeared that he didn't want to be there and lacked any social character or connection. It was very straight-forward and far from a warm feeling from him. We came in for the 3 for $30 week and was excited to try the menu. However, it looked better on the menu than it actually tasted. Both dishes, the lamb and the yellowfin tuna lacked flavor and was basically tasteless. If this is a representation of Seattle cuisine, I will be recommending another venue to friends."

  • "Had never been to Ray's, and spent an evening entertaining a friend from the Midwest. Three of us enjoyed Seattle Dine Around 3-Course dinner menu as tugboats, ships, sailboats and even a paddle boarder cruised by in front of us. Really nice evening, great service, and a classic Seattle experience!"

  • "My boyfriend and I went for our anniversary, and it was fantastic. The staff made sure to get us a good table and gave us a lovely little card. Excellent service, lovely ambiance, and SUPER tasty cocktails."

  • "I've been to Ray's a few times in the past for their full menu, and it is incredible. That's why I was excited to book dinner for the Dine Around Seattle program without even looking at the menu. However, we were pretty disappointed. We both got the calamari & greens for an appetizer, which was just a lackluster salad with a few pieces of calamari on top. The calamari wasn't fried and had pretty much no flavor. It ended up as just a boring salad. I got the lamb shank which was excellent, however, I was disappointed there weren't more seafood options for the entree. My boyfriend got the tuna and wasn't too impressed. The dessert was pretty good."

  • "We had not been back to Ray's for apparently a year and a half. We had heard that they went through an interiors redesign with mixed reviews. We were anxious to see it for ourselves. We know these things can be hard, redesigning and icon, but that being said this redesign needs a redesign. Fortunately the view can't be touched. The black ceiling tiles with the yellow light coves have got to go. Yellow light does not render skin tones well. The loss of the nice wood tones to black glossy painted wood trim is also an unfortunate change. The NW feel of the wood tones was always a pleasant dining environment, we have never been found of black glossy wood tones, it looks plastic. The food, was good but the menu shrunk but the prices grew"

  • "I take out of town business guests on a tour of 'quirky seattle' (the Fremont Troll, Lenin, the Locks and fish ladder) before taking them to dinner at Rays. It is always a hit."

  • "Ray's has been an institution and needed a stylistic overhaul. Main dining area has had a makeover but not sure a big improvement. Not as intimate and dominated by large bar area with great water views. Very pricey given food quality and not so great makeover. Ray's cafe upstairs probably a better overall choice. Less expensive more casual and better experience."

  • "Great ambiance and view, along with delicious drinks and food."

  • "Over the last 50-60 years, I've considered Ray's the place to bring out of town visitors or for a family dinner. Due to the illness of my wife, I have not visited the restaurant in more than a year. I doubt I will ever return. The clam chowder was a fancy concoction that wasn't clam chowder, the salad was a mess of romaine with a few sprinkles of cheese that had neither the flavor of dressing or the taste of raw lettuce. The smoked black cod was fine, but the side dishes were uneatable. There are too many other great sea food restaurants in Seattle to waste another meal at Rays, Anthony's, SeaStar, Etta's are all better now and Ray's great location doesn't make up for the difference."

  • "We have loved to raise for many many years… But there are several things on the menu which are very disappointing! Last time the scallops tasted as if they had been burned… The chicken entrée disappoints… The Sake Kasu disappoints… The appetizers are quite good! The desserts are wonderful… But the entrées have changed and are not up to par!"

  • "Service couldn't have been better. The waiter brought us perfect drinks and asked the chef to accommodate my off-menu order and gave us plenty of time to enjoy our drinks. The dinner service pacing was right on and relaxed."

  • "We visit Seattle annually to visit friends and enjoy the local restaurants. We have eaten at Ray's Boathouse before and had high expectations which were happily met in all aspects. We found that the "dine about Seattle" dinners were offered which we chose were happy to select for dinner. Highlights included an exquisite beet carpaccio salad winch exploded with well paired flavor sand textures; a perfectly braised lamb shanks and perfectly seared rare yellowfin tuna. The view at sunset over looking Elliot bay was spectacular and the service was efficient and friendly. The wine list to me, a bit of a wine snob, left me a little wanting. More good quality, moderate priced wines would be welcomed."

  • "My friend from Ohio HAD to have seafood. She said she didn't like fish, just oysters, clams, etc. so after I checked the menu, we picked Ray's. After a dozen oysters and the delicious calamari, she decided to try the sablefish. It totally changed her mind about fish - lightly done, sweet and moist, it was the perfect crescendo to the entire dinner experience."

  • "I recently visited Ray's for the first time. I had made reservations on line which was very easy to do. I requested a window seat for my special date. I got a courtesy call to remind me and to confirm the reservation. I loved how quiet and romantic the place was. The lighting was low which made for a relaxing setting. The service was very good and prompt. The food is fantastic. I would definitely recommend this restaurant for just about any occasion."

  • "The view was great, the food was decent and the wine list was pretty short and not very diverse. I give an "A" on the setting, a "B" on the food, a "C" on the value, and a "B" on the service. Given the other opportunities and the selection of fine dining that Seattle has to offer, I think that there are better options out there."

  • "Food was mediocre. The paella tasted cajun. No ttint of saffron . Nothing spanish at all. Too spicy. Got the crab legs. It was big and meaty. The restaurant was old and needs renovation. Not for dates since it wont sweep you away. It was like a diner next to the water. We were seated on a booth. It was valentines. Expecting for the works. Table was not set formal. No table cloth. I know there was a good laminate but still its a laminate. Doesnt match the dressy occasion"

  • "My girlfriend and I have made Ray's our dinner destination for everything from our high school prom, anniversary, to Valentine's day for 8 years....and have no intention of changing that fact. Fantastic atmosphere, amazing service, and incredibly delicious cuisine. Truly a Seattle gem."

  • "Two of us had the sable fish. My portion was a good size but my husband's was quite a bit smaller. We did not complain because it was a birthday celebration with 3 others present and did not want to mar the occasion. Very disappointing."

  • "I was a visitor to Seattle and your restaurant was highly recommended by co-workers. My restaurant experience was not what I had expected. I'm a traditionalist and I anticipated that clam chowder will be similar to New Englend style. The scallops were good, but sparce. I did not care for the accompanying vegetables (?)."
