I was greeted with a "Happy Birthday!" and there was a birthday card at my table and a single candle on my dessert; more than I expected and enough to make me feel special, not embarrassed.   • "We had a dinner for 6. As it was Thursday evening we all had different arrival times,some delayed. We were accommodated by the hosting staff very well. Our server,Shelby was prompt and gracious and reassured me that the traffic made this an understandable issue and please relax and the enjoy the evening. Her serving and explanations of the dishes we asked about was thorough and helpful. The rib eyes were poorly cooked and very over spiced with flavors and sauces. Not what you would expect of a ribeye or Rays. The cheese plate reminded me of the Alaska Airline commercial where the executive loves the idea of miniature chickens being served to there guests."

  • "I have been to Ray's numerous times with family and friend's. The food is consistently excellent. The view on a sunny summer evening is always breath taking. The service is friendly and attentive. Free valet parking is always a plus. This time around we had the mussels, smoked salmon and hamachi crudo appetizers. All were excellent. The deconstructed clam chowder was amazing. I was sad to see the bottom of the bowl. Ray's is known for the Sable Fish in Sake Kasu. It never disappoints. A lovely piece of fish, expertly prepared and plated. Don't miss the banana bomb for dessert. The remodel has freshened up the ambience. Ray's is a Seattle classic that gets better with age."

  • "We brought my in-laws here from LA for dinner. Service and wine was great! We started with the Manila clams which was sauteed with calabria chilis which overpowered the clams due to the spiciness. Other than that, we all enjoyed our entrees of salmon, halibut, scallops and prawns. We were told that the salmon is cooked medium-rare so if you don't prefer that, you will have to let them know that you'd prefer to have it cooked all the way through. I was worried at first they would over cook it but they didnt. It was perfect! And of course, you can't go wrong with the views of boats sailing by at sunset. Definitely will be back."

  • "The service was not what I had expected. Our server wasn't very informative on the menu items, she just simply came around twice to see if we were ready to order? The table next to us had a great server. Their server openly, without a question from their customers, provided a full blown breakdown of all the special menu items they had to offer as well as all the main ingredients that go towards the dish. He also had great recommendations. The food overall was very delicious, the only disappointment I had was the chowder. The chowder seemed bland. Overall, I'm not sure if i would come here again as I was hoping for a better dining experience for service. Maybe next time, we do chose to come here, we'll have a better server."

  • "Ray's used to be one of my favorite Seattle spots for excellent seafood in a beautiful setting. I took my late mom there years ago. Then, I ate there a year or so ago with some special friends and our same party returned just the other night. Apparently in the past 12 months, the top brass at Ray's has spent too much time watching The Food Channel. the portions are now smaller, the menu more "esoteric", and the emphasis is on foodie cheffie offerings. Plating and cheffie-cuteness is now of more importance than quantity or traditional fresh seafood emphasis. Ray's had a traditon and history. Some will be glad to see they have "kept up with the times" and have a new menu. Others will be disppointed that it is now a totally different place."

  • "Our reservations were at 8:00 and we were seated at a table with a magnificent view of the sound. As the sun set, a gorgeous sail boat was heading for the locks and the birds were coasting on the breeze. It was intoxicatingly beautiful. Our server was knowledgeable, polite, enthusiastic about the food and very helpful. Our party of six all were delighted with our food. The chowder is to die for."

  • "My food was good. The restaurant has a good view. Service was not very good. I went here for my anniversary an made reservations 2 weeks in advanced with a window seat so we could see the sun set. They did not fulfill that simple request and refused to give us the empty table by the window that we saw and asked for. Our waiter also failed to bring us bread and brought us the wrong dessert. I would rather go to Anthonys next door which also has a view."

  • "My family took an out of town guest to Ray's for an early dinner. The seafood choices were excellent and the service was prompt and accommodating. The sake kazu sablefish was perfect as was my Wagyu sirloin. The prawns were a little bland but the mashed potatoes and veggies were an excellent accompaniment. Overall, an excellent meal for everyone."

One of the best views in Seattle, and crab dip to die for! We went downstairs to the Boathouse for our dinner, and we found a Happy Anniversary card waiting on our table--such a thoughtful touch. Amazingly attentive and knowledgeable waiter, and our steak and halibut were cooked to perfection. Highly recommend for a special occasion, or for a first class meal in a beautiful setting. Also appreciated the free valet parking."

  • "We celebrated our first anniversary and a birthday and everything was absolutely perfect! The restaurant called to confirm my reservation and I pushed the reservation back an hour - and of course we arrived at the original time, they simply suggested the bar until the table was ready which was perfect. The bar tender was an absolute delight and made my dad a daiquiri that he was craving and made it that traditional way that my Dad was hoping for. Such great service and a great way to start the meal on the 97 degree day! :) Our dinner was flawless and we felt right at home! We didn't want to leave and look forward to experiencing Ray's again soon."

  • "Ray's knows how to cook fish. We both had the sable fish that was cooked perfectly. Good wine list. The decor is a little boring although I know it was recently remodeled. The booths in the back carry sound directly to the window seats overlooking the water which is unfortunate. We will be back, though. This restaurant has more of a classic feel and the population is more geriatric."

  • "Ray's has been a Seattle favorite before the word "foodie " was invented. We dined on some very unusual seafood treasures-the white King Salmon poached with elegance, and the Black Cod, aka. sablefish, which was marinated, not too long with tender, baby, bok choy, rice surrounded with a luscious pool of green subtle seasoning. The cheese course we had at the end was served at the right (runny )m temperature, and the orange crème brulee was so fresh, and could have served 2 easily! On the front end, the salads were good , and appetizers as well, but not as creative or "to die for" as the subsequent courses. The wait staff is very professional, and we had a fantastic evening with an memorable enchanting view !"

The food was nothing special: have had much better Caesar salads. Ordered off-the-menu special of Copper River salmon which was tasteless. Vegetarian in our party was quite satisfied with vegetable choice and Chocolate Bomb dessert. Even though the food was somewhat disappointing, it was still an enjoyable experience."

  • "As always, the view of the sound was spectacular! The restaurant was beautiful!! However I paid way too much ($39) for a full plate of lentils with three less than bite sized scallops! Totally disappointed! Similar dish at other seafood restaurants would have been $10 with a variety of vegetables! Further, the wait staff was non existent! Not knowing whether the staff was shorthanded or not, I still left 15% gratuity, but was reluctant to do so. I am a frequent patron to Ray's and this was my first bad experience. If you go to a place enough, eventually, you will have a bad experience. So I give Ray's the benefit of the doubt, but I definitely feel taken advantage by the exorbitant price for what was served."

Our servers were attentive and helpful and our meals (scallops, crab cakes, and king salmon) were among the most exceptional we have ever experienced in a Seattle dining experience over the last 3 decades. Kudos to Ray for their exceptional food, service, and ambience."
