  • "A bit over rated. The food was good, but not great. Ambiance was pleasant. Not worth the money. The service was the best part of the evening. Nice night, but not memorable."

  • "Gorgeous view of the Pacific Ocean from our table , food and service were good, only passable wine list. The restaurant sits next to the very busy lobby area of the hotel. There are no walls that separate it from the lobby, only pretty steel sculptures which do nothing to dim the noise from the lobby. Almost had to yell to be heard. We went on a Saturday night and there were lots of families with kids. Not a "special occasion" place, though the prices would make you think otherwise (expensive). Won't be back."

  • "We chose this restaurant for a birthday celebration. It was one of the most wonderful experiences we've ever had. From the hostess to the wait staff to everyone in between, it was a picture perfect evening. We were blessed with a beautiful view like no other. The food was absolutely delicious, the ambiance was spectacular, the entire evening was perfect."

  • "My partner and I had a reservation at noon for Sunday brunch to celebrate our 33rd anniversary. In the reservation we mentioned a preference for a table by a window. When we arrived (15 minutes early) we were told there would be a short wait for a window table, so we went to the adjacent bar for a drink. Right around noon, the receptionist came in to the bar and told us our table was ready. What a surprise to arrive at t table covered in rose petals and a short poem about the meaning of love. That, combined with the beautiful view over the beach and ocean made for a memorable event. The brunch is $65 and you order choices off the four-course menu. Price includes unlimited champange, mimosas or bloody marys. Staff was excellent."

  • "Raya was a great surprise. The room is dominated by the ocean view and all the tables take advantage of this. The menu is a great mix of Latin and Asian influences... go to the web page to view the entire menu. The lobster tacos and beet salad were delicious starters. The scallops with pork cha shu was outstanding as well as the black cod with daikon. Dessert was a great chocolate ganache that was for a birthday that the restaurant does for you... what a very nice touch! Besides the brilliant food and the view, the star of Raya is the service. The waiters and the busyboys are prompt and personable and they make you feel like you are very special guests... very, very impressive. Only negative would be the parking, very expensive."

  • "Returned from a wonderful meal at Raya. The restaurant has massive glass windows overlooking the ocean and we were lucky enough to catch the sunset with a dramatic view of the beach, Pacific Ocean, and Catalina island. The hostess was very friendly and immediately wished me a happy birthday, as did the waiter who took the time to review the menu in detail (although his overview seemed a little too rehearsed and didn't allow for us to interject with questions). At one point almost asked the server to stop coming over and asking how things were, but at least he was attentive. Food was fantastic - lobster tacos, sea bass ceviche, scallops, risotto...wasn't a fan of the Brussels sprouts. Great place for a romantic date. Bill approx $150 for 2."

  • "Raya is always a treat. I have dinner with my girlfriends every few months and we usually go to Raya. The services is outstanding from the hostesses who great you at the door to the waiters and busboys who cater to your every need and make you feel special without being over bearing. the food is outstanding. we started with the lobster tacos which were just the rigt size and tasted terrific and I had a New York Steak which was done to perfection. In the summer you can have drinks and/ appetizers at the outside bar. I highly recommend it."

  • "It's the Ritz and obviously they feel they need to charge top dollar even if they are not delivering a top dollar experience. The room is attractive but cold, both in decor and in temperature. Everyone was wearing coats. Our server and the hostess both told us they could not change the temperature. Our wives were not happy. Food and service were both very good, the scallops and NY steak both exceptional. The wine list is so-so, way overpriced, and at $100/bottle or $25/glass I expect vintages to be listed. We will probably skip for a while because they don't seem interested in delivering an experience that would compel us to come back and spend this much money on a dinner out."

  • "Went to Raya for dinner. Pros: the great view of the Pacific (although we missed it since we went there for dinner) and the attentive service staff. Cons: location, it's sort of in the middle of the lobby in a high transit area. The food was just ok, really expected more for what they charge."

  • "Incredible lobster salad and salmon poke. Scallops cooked to perfection."

  • "Food was mostly very good, but the restaurant is located right next to the bar and not very far from the lobby with very loud bar music and noisy crowd which took away from the fine dining experience."

  • "The food and service was outstanding as always!!! The lobster tacos were delicious, the ceviche sampler was so refreshing and the miso black cod melted in your mouth. The ocean view tops it off. What a wonderful meal!"

  • "One of most extraordinary restaurant views in S Cal. Go during day. This is a kid-friendly hotel, so expect them in the restaurant while you are dropping $100+ pp for dinner. Some dishes extraordinary, others blah. White wine list not appropriate for seafood oriented restaurant, and my white wine brought to table at pretty much room temperature (ok for an $8 glass, not a $350 bottle!) Much better values and food at other Laguna/ Dana Point spots, but probably not bad for a quick lunch to take in the view"

  • "I was really excited to dine at Raya. We arrived and were seated pretty quickly. The waiter was nice in the beginning and quite knowledgable in the dining menu. I decided to step it up and spend a bit on our celebration. The waiter knew nothing of the drink menu. I ordered a $140 bottle of champagne and asked the waiter if it was a good option. He had no clue and made it clear he didn't care. He was not very friendly for the rest of our dining experience. If I am spending $300 on dinner for two, I would think that I would have had more professionalism. Ambience was amazing, food was mediocre at best, and service (waiter only) was less than desirable. I think there are better options. Was looking for the Ritz experience and was disappointed"

  • "We have not been to the Ritz Carlton for some time. Our dinner with friends was a wonderful experience: attentive service, quiet enough that we could talk and hear comfortably around a large table for four and the food was very enjoyable. Its a relief to know that subtle elegance still exists in otherwise hopelessly brash Orange Co."

  • "Sunset, sunrise or in the middle of the day Raya has an amazing ocean view!! Great for special occasions, romance, or just relaxation. The food was delicious, wonderful selections for non-meat eaters. Crab mashed potatoes are a must!!! Breakfast was just as delicious and the service was fantastic!!! There's a price to pay, but well worth it...if you're with the right person ;-)."

  • "We went to Raya at the Ritz Carlton for my boyfriend's birthday & it was the best dining experience of our lives. The Ritz is so beautiful & elegant. We started with a drink at the bar on a cozy couch in front of the fireplace. It was very romantic. Then we went to Raya for dinner. There was a special birthday greeting on the table for my boyfriend's birthday. Everything was absolutely perfect! Our server Richard was amazing. He is so personable yet friendly. He made us feel right at home & treated us like royalty. I would definitely recommend requesting him! The food was incredible! The ahi ceviche just melts in your mouth. We loved the seafood risotto and New York steak. The beautiful birthday dessert was the perfect finish."

  • "Thank to Raya for serving as a wonderful host for a historic dinner for me and my "new" fiance. The venue was beautiful and an amazing scene to celebrate. We were greeted by name and with congratulations by the host and our servers. The table was set with rose petals and a nicely typed note of congrats and best wishes for our future together. Thank you so much for making it such a special occasion and historic meal together."
