  • "The restaurant was having a special event in the outside space....country karaoke. This ruined the ambiance."

  • "I took my wife here for her birthday. We are both fans of special roll sushi selections. For a uber-expensive menu they had 5 selections plus 1 from the waiter. Most had tempura which made the sushi warm. For almost $20 a roll the sushi was bland at best. The martinis were NYC priced ($13!). The only highlight was the spicy tuna tartar (which was premade because it was the only cold thing we had). The waiter was nice until we rejected his ponzu sauce recommendation. He became distant, barely around, didn't drop our check off, didn't say anything to us as we left (mind you the place was empty). There a numerous sushi restaurants in the city to get your money's worth. We went to El Vez after & had a MUCH better experience."

  • "The food at RAW was delicious. I loved every bite of everything I ordered. I was quite impressed with the sushi rolls. The service was a little sporadic and a bit "surfer dude" for my taste at a restaurant, and the booth seat I sat in was not well supported (as it practically sat me on the floor), but it was still a great dinner. Loved the food, could improve ambiance and service a little more."

  • "Lovely dinner. Very accommodating for the kids also!"

  • "On the night I was there, the room was almost as humid inside as it was outside. As was the temperature. This really took away from the experience."

  • "With so many sushi restaurants out there, raw distinguishes itself by being a cool place in its own right - topped off by some very good and some innovative sushi - along with apps that could be entries themselves. Service was great and the atmosphere really nice. But for the men out there - don't miss the bathroom you will understand when u see it - very unusual- in a good way"

  • "Great good and service although out server did recommend 3 tolls per person which would have been an excessive amount of food! It was delicious though!"

  • "Five women going out to dinner pre-concert. Ordered four rolls, including the special of the evening. Deelish! Our server was knowledgeable & helpful. We decided that we ordered just enough food so we could go next door to Capogiro for gelato. We all agreed that it was a wonderful dinner!"
    Dined on 5/15/2014
  • "Server not at all knowledgable about the sake or foods. Also very slow service. The rolls were too big and difficult to eat( They fell apart) and the sashimi was not top grade. Overall not worth the trip. "
    Dined on 5/10/2014
  • "Sushi and sashimi were very fresh. Fish were cut and presented meticulously. Kitchen has an extensive menu for cooked food. Raw Sushi & Sake Lounge is much better than the over-priced Morimoto in town. "

  • "Great sushi, nice place, reasonably priced for the quality of sushi and variety of rolls, and it has a nice outdoor courtyard for dining outside that's set back from the street and fairly quiet/nice."

  • "The food was great as usual but even with reservations it took a few minutes to find a host to seat us. After being seated it took a bit for someone to wait on us and it was not very crowded, maybe 3-5 other tables had guests."

  • "The food was very good - not the best I've had - but I'd definitely eat there again. Very attentive service. Some mix-up in our order - largely due to it being too noisy for the server to hear - but the mistake was quickly rectified and the mistake was comped. We were a group of 9 and were seated in a cramped alcove in the main passageway to the kitchen. So there was not much room for all of us and there was constant traffic past the table. So I would call that not ideal for a group - although very nice of them to accommodate us. "

  • "Have been here several times and love it! Have tried to find sushi as good at other places and have not found any! Have decided that if I want great sushi I have to go to Raw!"

  • "I visited this restaurant twice once for dinner and once for lunch. My dinner at this restaurant was very dissapointing. It was quite expensive but the quality and service were not up to the level. Foods were served very slowly and 2/3 of dishes seemed to have cooked much earlier than the actual serving time. I cam back to the restaurant two days later for another appoinment the lunch turned out to be much better than my previous dinner experience. So, I would recommend this place only for lunch. "

  • "Loved the wonderful sushi and sashimi and the gorgeous seaweed salad. Sake was a good visit to a past good time, but miss wine. If you offer beer, think you need to offer some decent wine too."

  • "Raw is great. Interesting rolls, attentive service, and very tasty. However, it's pricey. Now, maybe that's because of the quality of the fish, but honestly, I can't tell the difference between this, and the sushi I get at my local place, for half the price. So go, enjoy, but consider yourself warned, the bill will not be small."

  • "When we want GREAT sushi, we know where to go. Can't wait for it to be warm enough to join our friends on the patio. Thanks for making every experience a good one..."

  • "Everything other than the table was amazing. The waiter didn't tell me I'd be charged for extra eel sauce but hey that's my fault for loving eel sauce so much I guess. We were a group of 5 and got seated at an awkward sideways table, with a booth on one side and both ends so we were one-three-one-none around the four sides of the table. Because of the weird seating we had basically two separate dinners, because we were so far at one end from the people on the other end that the only person who could talk to both sides without shouting was the one in the middle. Food was DELICIOUS and price point fine. Just bummed that our family dinner got split up!"

  • "My husband and I went to Raw to celebrate by 30th birthday. We were 15 minutes early for our 6pm reservation, but the hostess seated us immediately. The menu can be a bit expensive if you are going for dinner, but the quality and flavor of the food is worth it. I had squid, eel, uni (sea urchin) and plum paste sushi, and everything was fresh and delicious. My only minor complaint (and I cannot fault the restaurant for this) is that there was a wait for our food due to a lot of carry-out or a la carte orders placed before ours, but the wait staff informed us of the delay well in advance. All in all, a great date night sushi place."

  • "The one thing above all required of a sushi bar; a product that was swimming the night before it was served. RAW meets or exceeds that "must" then adds creative specials, a selection of items not found on every menu such as "Suzuki" (sea bass) plus a small but diverse choice of sake. Make reservations, GO!"

  • "Delicious, creative sushi! Spicy sashimi salad, special rolls and wonderful tuna varieties. Service was excellent and knowledgeable, offering thoughts on same and wine pairings as well as tasting. We enjoyed it very much!"

  • "Very attentive to our needs - little things like halving the rolls for each end of the long table. The sushi and rolls were the best we have had - and we live a block from one of the best sushi bars in Northern California. A great dining experience top to bottom."

  • "They seated us at the back of the restaurant near a wall of glass that fronted a street. The draft that was coming through the doors was so cold that we had to wear our coats throughout the entire meal. The server didn't seem to care and at no point did a manager come over to address this or move our table. They should be embarrassed that patrons had to eat dinner in winter coats in their establishment. Nonetheless, we braved the arctic blast at our table and ordered the Vday prix fixe menu which was mediocre at best and a couple of martinis which took a half hour to arrive (I suspect they forgot about us over in Siberia). To her credit, the server did offer to remove them from our bill. We'll see if Amex removes that charge."

  • "I went with my wife and sister for valentines day. We had to wait about 20 minutes after our reservation to be seated. The sushi was great. A little pricey, but generally you pay more for good sushi. The service was slow for a dining room that wasn't very busy as well. All in all, it was a very good meal, but in the future I would recommend getting an appetizer."

  • "Could not have been happier with anything that we ordered. We got a sashimi appetizer and 4 rolls, The presentation was great, and the sushi was better!"

  • "My girlfriend and I dined here on a Thursday evening and we had a lovely meal. Sashimi of Yellowtail, California roll, edamame; nothing too exotic, but all tasted delicious. I would recommend this place for sushi lovers. Their dishes are so exquisitely-served, and their cocktails delicious! I had the Lady Dragon. Mmm - mmm good!"

  • "RAW has incredible sushi and a great atmosphere. Smack in the middle of Samson Street in Philly, you would never guess they have outside seating in the summer, but wedged between Raw and their neighbors is a great little courtyard where you can relax on sofas or sit at tables and enjoy their Sushi. Nice bar inside, too. We are addicted to their sushi. Always great service. Not only do the wait staff intimately know the specials every time, but the bartenders do, too. I HIGHLY recommend RAW."
