Diner Reviews
  • "This winery has a contemporary farm style with its buildings and setting. Large outdoor area surrounds the restaurant including a bar and seating plus tented lawn area. The menu features selected items and is not extensive. Our dinners were all well prepared and enjoyable. The wine produced at Ravine was quite good with a number of varietals. Very professional wait staff."

  • "Chose this restaurant because I am familiar with Gidleigh Park, one of the places where the chef trained in England. Pleased to say that this meal lived up to Gidleigh Park's reputation. Excellent food beautifully presented, especially the charcuterie appetizer. Loved the blue cheese bread pudding with the lamb sirloin. Noise level was too high for private conversation after a large party arrived. Dining early is a good option!"

  • "Drove from Toronto to eat here on my daughter's recommendation, my son and I shared the house smoked & cured Charcuterie,we loved everything on it,we had the Pan Seared Steelhead Trout and Duck Leg Confit, both were well presented and tasty, for dessert we had the Strawberry Pistachio Cobbler. we also enjoyed a bottle of their Reisling which we also bought a couple of bottles from their wine store after,"

  • "This farm-to-table restaurant feels like home with a chef in the kitchen. Our scallop appetizer with a slice of bacon and ravioli was divine, the steelhead trout was cooked to perfection, and the veggies were crisp and delicious. Of course, the wine pairings were superb and complemented the meal. We watched families run about in front of the vines, playing soccer and ping pong as the sun set. A wonderful evening that I'm sure we'll repeat!"

  • "Lovely country setting. Pleasant rooms though the noise is considerable because the tables are too close together in some areas. The food was also pleasant – sometimes. We started the meal with what we considered the most expensive scallop we had ever eaten. One entree was far too salty to eat. The server tried to tell us that duck confit is always salty which is wrong, of course. We were not billed for the duck. The women's washroom was messy and there was no toilet paper. This restaurant is too expensive to have careless housekeeping. We would not return."

  • "A wonderful vineyard restaurant with an informal ambience and a lovely vista overlooking the vineyards to Niagara On The Lake beyond the far treeline. The staff were warm, welcoming, fun and friendly. Delicious food with innovative twists, and a guitar serenade from the edge of the vineyard. Several seating options ... lovely glass dining room or cozy bar-area, and outdoor terrace, porch, garden, and pizza kitchen. We'll be back!"

  • "The restaurant view was good, over looking the vineyard through full glass windows. The overall service was poor as we found the server to be preoccupied either with other tables or disappearing out of the dining area. We asked for an additional bread tray & had to wait for another server arrived to ask us if we would like more bread. The food was only fair with some dishes being better than others. In general the presentation of the food was OK. For the price, we found this restaurant to be expensive for the food selection offered."

  • "Ravine Vineyard Restaurant is a class above many of the high end eateries with reasonable prices. You can just have a salad, full course meal or an amazing pizza from the stone oven. The charm of the restaurant coupled with the view of the vineyard make it a great destination to head to out of the city. Did I mention the best organic wine in the region!"

  • "Lovely view from this restaurant. With our reservation we were allowed to go to the tasting room for a free tasting. This is a wonderful extra as we came back to the restaurant knowing which wine to order with our dinner. Very friendly staff. We will do this again. Make reservations - its popular"

  • "The menu is very short but the food very good, as was the service. Unfortunately the restaurant appears to be geared towards groups, the main restaurant is one large room with little to absorb sound. Despite being on one side away from the main crowd we still found it difficult to have a decent conversation. There were at least 4 groups in the restaurant and adjoining patio area. A live entertainer was a nice touch but we have no idea how good he was because we couldn't hear him. We feel there are many restaurants of equal value in the area and will not be inclined to go back to this one."

  • "My sister and I try and visit a winery every summer. This quaint venue was recommended by my son, a lovely, rustic winery. The service was friendly and they had the ac nice and cool. We ordered the trout on a bed of beans. The trout was a bit dry."

  • "We ate at Ravine on a trip two years ago and remembered it so fondly we had to return. It did not disappoint. Great cooking in that kitchen and a nice scene inside, or on the patio, or at the bar, all overlooking the winery. Nice bottle of Reisling with our dinner of foie gras, hen and rib eye. All delish."

  • "We had a great dining experience at the Ravine Vineyard Restaurant overall. We were entertaining family who had just arrived from Scotland a few days prior and wanted to take them out to dinner in an unusual and elegant setting and the Ravine offered both those attributes. Unfortunately our guests ordered the Scallops as a starter and I have to say for $16.00 each, all they got was one scallop on their plate along with a few greens. The menu did say "scallops" with an "s" so it was quite shocking to say the least that they were served only 1 scallop especially at that price. The rest of the meal was well done, and wine was great also."

  • "My partner and I took a couple from Seattle, WA to Ravine to experience Niagara on the Lake vineyard dining at its best. They have been in the high end food business for a combined 60 plus years so it was important to us they have a good and memorable evening. Our table, overlooking the vineyard, was perfect. Overall we had a very good meal.We had loin of lamb which was excellent. The noise level is very high inside the dining room so bear that in mind perhaps if planning a romantic dinner"

  • "Eight of us enjoyed a delicious lunch at Ravine; we had everything from the charcuterie plate to wood-oven pizza to burgers to pasta. Everything was amazing and fresh. It is definitely expensive at Ravine, especially for lunch, but the quality is outstanding."

  • "We enjoyed the ambiance, wish we could have enjoyed the sound of the outdoor music inside. The cornish hen was awesome accompanied by the spaetzle, and the trout looked amazing, loved the chocolate dessert offerings great for sharing"

  • "My wife and I decided to go here for dinner based on a great experience we had having lunch here a few months ago (Icewine Festival). Unfortunately, our dinner did not meet our expectations. The asparagus soup was delicious, however, our appetizers were disappointing. I had the seared scallop with ravioli. It was good, yet the 1 scallop and 1 ravioli was much too small a serving, even for an appetizer. My wife had the asparagus salad which looked great, but tasted bland and lacked flavour. She typically loves anything topped with soft poached eggs, but the cold temperature of the duck egg in this salad was unappetizing. Sadly, our main course didn't fare any better. The sirloin and trout we had simply lacked proper seasoning."

  • "Just had an appetizer this time and I wasn't disappointed. It hit- the-spot and was delicious too. Capped it off with a nice glass of chilled white wine and I was ready to enjoy the rest of the afternoon in the heart of Niagara."

  • "we loved everything about our anniversary dinner. Live music, beautiful view. Friendly, knowledgeable waiter. And of course, the meal! We had a couple of draft beers, Charcuterie, oysters, lamb and trout, angel food cake and cheese plate, ice wine, a bottle of merlot reserve. Top notch!!"

  • "This is a charming vineyard restaurant with magnificent vistas and superb food. The pre-lunch wine tasting in the old estate home was festive, informative and a perfect start to a long leisurely exquisite meal. Wonderful fresh ingredients (never had such fresh salads) and the fish perfectly seared--and take home the lovely wood-fired sourdough bread along with an estate wine or two!"

  • "I would return to your restaurant in the future but not take a group with me. The service was very slow. Food quality was great! There was even a wedding reception scheduled for that Friday we were there. I would consider the venue for any special ocassion."

  • "The view just amazing! For sure to ask to seat at the patio or even outside, right beside the vinyard. The foods was great & wine is good. Service is a little slow but maybe because they were busy when I dined."

  • "Our experience at Ravine was a nice evening out for a special occasion. While our overall experience was positive the evening wasn't without challenges. The A/C wasn't working optimally, and we were offered a table out of the sun, but without the view that drew us there initially. The divers were ok but nothing out of the ordinary. The portions were moderate but not overly filling. We did not have the opportunity to try the pizza, but the outdoor wood oven looked very impressive and the product that we saw looked very appealing. Since we are not wine drinkers we can't comment specifically, but the grounds and the Vinyard looked lovely and their wine list seemed extensive."

  • "I visited last week for a lunch out with a girlfriend. We were so impressed with the service, ambiance, and quality of food. We each tried three different wines and loved them all. The Charcuterie board is a must have! Barb was a server and she was wonderful. Very attentive and helpful. The views out to the vineyards along with the interior decor are perfect together. I will definitely be returning, and recommending this restaurant to friends and family. wether it's a special occasion, or a casual lunch out, I think Ravine nailed it."

  • "Our experience was wonderful. I am 93, live in a residence, get frozen meals too often and don't like crowds or noise. We had a window seat and the view was gorgeous. Noise level was low and we were able to carry on a conversation without shouting. Tara, our little hostess, was beautiful. She explained everything extremely well, and the little special treatment she gave us was very special. This was the first time any of us had come here, and it was my daughter in laws birthday celebration, and we will tell everyone what a beautiful place Ravine is. We had food not had before and the treats were delicious. The chef or chefs were artists as well and it just added the crowning touches to our meal. Thank you"

Enjoyed the meal with a bottle of red wine "Sand and Gravel" I will be back again - love the area and dining experience at the Ravine. Many thanks."
