We enjoyed a fine evening with attentive service and delicious food. The beet salad was the best ever--not to be missed. And, being dog nuts, we of course brought ours along. Our pooch was treated like royalty so the dinner was an all around winner.

The restaurant is an integral part of the Stanford Inn - a really nice place to stay in the Mendocino area. My wife and I knew coming in that the cuisine was going to be Vegan - and we enjoy vegetarian meals, but haven't had 100% vegan and it is different - even breakfast Items are a little extreme for our own liking. The various menu items are done in a fine dining style and are beautifully prepared & presented. The meals were good, but just too extreme vegan for us. We would recommend dining here.

My husband and I have been vegans for many years, so we've had the opportunity to dine at a vast array of restaurants. Since we were to be in Mendocino, we were excited about trying Raven's, which we thought was a "sure thing" in the gourmet vegan world. We were seated at a nice table, and our server was very courteous. The beet salad was very good, but things went downhill from there. After about 35-40 minutes of no contact from our server, our entrees finally arrived (sushi and sea palm strudel), and they were inedible! Not balanced and really tasted awful. My husband and I were both ill through the night and the next day. I'm really sorry we ate there, and I don't recommend this place at all.

I'll admit I was skeptical. What I love about sushi is the clean subtle flavor of seafood combined with rice, nori and sometimes vegetables. I just didn't believe they would be able to pull it off sans seafood. When the dish arrived it was beautifully presented. On my first bite my skepticism faded into enthusiasm. It was delectable and completely satisfying without the fish! For me the sushi exemplifies the artistry of the vegan cuisine created at Raven's. They are highly skilled, and able to create amazing dishes that stand on their own without relying on animal products. We will make it a point to dine their again on our next trip to Mendo.

Last night's meal was our second dinner in a row at this restaurant. The staff is so friendly and the food is prepared quickly and perfectly! I has the Sea Palm & Root Vegetable Strudel. The Umeboshi and wasabi sauces served on the side were very flavorful and added to the strudel. My husband had the ravioli, which was filled with broccoli, shallots, and hemp seed ricotta and served in a creamy vodka marinara sauce. The cream of mushroom soup and Caesar salad were both amazing as starters. Unfortunately, we didn't have any room for dessert!

I was excited to eat here expecting a fine dining experience. It was definitely overpriced. I got the radish salad which had a great description. There was watery dressing with no flavor and the radishes that were in the salad looked like they were cut up by a 3rd grader. It also said that there were carrot ribbons but the salad had shredded carrots which isn't a big deal but it made it seem like a bagged salad. My husband's salad was a tomato salad and it was better than mine but totally over dressed and over powered with acidity. There wasn't a nice balance. If I had this meal and paid a third of the price it would have been ok but spending as much as we did it left me angry and very disappointed.

While we are not vegan, we'd heard good things about the food and atmosphere, so had to try it. My wife and I both had the ravioli. While tasty, the pasta was under-cooked, could've used another minute or two in the boil. (A little more filling would've been nice) The greens were very tasty. So much so, I had to ask the waitress how the cook prepares it. Never had Kale nor chard before! Might have to try making it myself. I thought $13 was rather steep for a not-that-generous glass of wine! The staff were all very friendly. We met a nice young lady from Costa Rica who was a guest of the owners, part of a group participating in a sustainable gardening seminar, sponsored by the owners. BRAVO to you for making such a commitment!

Food here is fresh and creative in a way that doesn't go crazy with odd ingredients. Our server was friendly and helpful. The kitchen manager took time to give us a recipe for the tasty tomato vege soup. The mushroom crepe with forbidden rice was my favorite. Also liked the quiet ambiance. We are not vegans but enjoy checking out vegan restaurants on both coasts -- Raven's is up there with the best. We plan to return later in the week.

This was our first time having a Vegan dinner and the food was well prepared and very well presented. The restaurant is unique in that it is split into two sections. One for partrons and their dogs and the other no dogs. The Stanford is very dog firendly. All the meals are Vegan and they are very creative in their menu. Great place for people on Vegan diets and good spot for dogs as their are lots of trails and a river and beach close by.

This is a really great place to eat ... IF you're a strict vegan. If you're not, then you might have an issue with the options on the menu. That being said, the food was good, for what it was. There were a few notable vegan staples missing from the menu (rice, legumes of any sort, whole grains, etc), that left myself and my dining partner wondering why these were not present. ALL the baked goods are gluten free - which is great, if you actually have Celiac Disease. The dining experience was nice. It's a quiet restaurant with respectful diners and a nice view of the Hotel grounds. The wait staff was attentive and prompt. Just understand what you will have the option of eating before you come here.

Ravens is not only a vegans' food paradise, it's simply food paradise with an all vegan menu. . The room is open and airy with large windows that open to beautiful views of the grounds and not so distant sea, and glows with the warmth of light wood. The menu is so tantalizing, we wanted to order everything. The outstanding dishes of the evening were the Tamale appetizer, the beet salad, and the vegetables on rice noodles with peanut curry sauce. The vegetable napoleon was satisfying comfort food for those in the mood for a more grounded dish. The presentation is stunning. We loved watching the orders of our fellow diners parade by, wishing we were staying long enough in Mendocino to try them all. The service was very attentive.

I had been to the Ravens Restaurant once before, and decided to celebrate a special occasion by once again attending. The ambience was lovely, the restaurant is on The Stanford Inn property, where produce is yielded from the on-site gardens. The waitstaff was attentive, but not overly so. The food was a little underwarm upon arrival, but very tasty. The venue could benefit from some live music or some other method to tone down the conversational noise level. The produce shone through. The sushi was delightful, the drinks excellent. As a vegan, the combination of local and vittles make the Raven's Restaurant a must.

We stayed two nights at the Stanford Inn where the Ravens restaraunt is located and really enjoyed the food. The breakfasts where amazing and the tea time desserts where excellent. The dinners where also great but the timing between entrees was off, to long of a wait both nights. Other than that it is a awesome vegan restaraunt .

This was my 2nd time dining at The Ravens. Every trip to Mendocino now must to include a reservation at The Ravens! A beautiful setting, great staff and the food! Oh the food! I'm a vegetarian, but my non-veggie friends love it here too. The chef sent out a surprisingly delicious amuse bouche- cashew cheese, walnut pesto and tomato. The flavors were refreshing & exciting. All that flavor in a tiny package! I ate simply this time as I wasn't terribly hungry, much to my disappointment! I had their soup of the day and the sea palm & marinated vegetable strudel appetizer. So delicious! Last time, I had their napoleon as my entree. It was one of the reasons I came back! I look forward to another exciting vegan meal there in the future!!!

Love this gem on the Mendocino coast. The dining room is smple yet elegant, beautiful wooden windows highlight the wooded setting overlooking the Mendocino coast. The vegan menu is innovative, beautifully presented and absolutely delicious. The vegan Caesar Salad made with romaine fresh from the large, on-site garden was one of the best I've ever eaten. The pinto bean burger was a tad spicy, but balanced by a cool cucumber side and overall delicious. The servers were friendly and attentive. I would highly recommend Raven's for a special meal whether vegan or not!

The food was awful. I ordered the vegetable and Vietnamese rice noodle dish. I could have forgiven the presentation alone (gray sauce underneath gray asparagus) if the food was tasty. The asparagus was overcooked beyond recognition, while the other vegetables were basically raw. Additionally, the flavorless rice noodles were overcooked and many were broken. I am very fond of flat rice noodles, but not when they are cooked to death and unseasoned. My friend ordered the ravioli, which was overcooked and came on an excessively large bed of unseasoned kale. Our Caesar salads also left a lot to be desired (flavorless, oddly textured croutons, too much lemon, not enough dressing), but at least it was generally edible. All this for $100!

I came here for my fabulous birthday dinner and loved everything. Started with the Raven's house martini, which is organic vodka with just a hint of chocolate so it's slightly sweet but not over the top. Appetizer was sea palm philo wraps- so good! For the main dish I had the spinach ravioli with vodka cashew cream marinara which was delish. Plus Wednesday nights during summer all cocktails and beer are 1/2 off so you can drink twice as much! Ordered a second martini! However the best part of the meal was dessert- the pecan tart! It was a heavenly shortbread tart which tasted soooo buttery and like the best waffles ever, with a maple flavor, topped with pecans and caramel sauce and pecan vegan ice cream. So good!!!
