For really superb food and
excellent service in or near Elk Grove, there are just two choices: Ravenous and Boulevard Bistro, and both of them can compete with the finest the greater Sacramento Area has to offer. If it's a special occasion, or you just deserve a really wonderful dinner for some reason, you must try Ravenous. I've eaten there five times over the last couple of years and every time it has been fantastic."

This is a gem, very small and
quiet but the food is great. The owner Wade is also the server and he couldn't be friendlier."

A small casual restaurant that
serves excellent food. The service is outstanding as always.. A restaurant that I can highly recommend!!!!"

Made a reservation through Open
Table for this intimate local restaurant, and we were warmly welcomed when we arrived. It is a small place with a limited menu, but still a nice selection which included seafood, poultry, and beef dishes. We shared the Crab Cakes for an appetizer, they were excellent. My wife had the Salmon, a large portion which was very tasty; I had the Risotto with prawns, which was also perfectly cooked. Two dinner salads were just the right size, and their bread was absolutely fabulous. Service was prompt and attentive, and they had a good-sized wine list. Overall, a great evening out, we will be back."

We had such a good time. The food
was excellent. You and your staff are so ready to please and so personable. You have a small intimate atmosphere that allows a person to feel more like a guest than a diner."

Though I would have liked it if
the menu had a few items priced in the teens, the food I had was very good. I took my elderly parents there for dinner on a Tuesday night. Of course, it was quiet on a Tuesday, which made it nice for them. Their appetites are not what they once were and my Mom was looking for a gourmet burger, much like the one on the lunch menu. The lowest priced item was the chicken at $22.00. I must say, however, it was very good. All in all, a good experience."

Went for lunch and the selection
was difficult, we went with a local recommendation of the Steak and Prosciutto sandwich which was wonderful. The mixed greens salad with roasted pine nuts and feta cheese was topped with a very light dressing that added perfectly with the sandwich for a tasty lunch. I had a glass of Mumm's that made for a decadent lunch which was finished with a piece of cheesecake, not really the New York style but lighter, fresher tasting, and not too sweet, quite perfectly balanced, well, maybe a touch of lemon might have worked, but certainly was not necessary. The service prompt and attentive when needed. Wade did a great job of making certain everything was just right. Thanks to the chef for a great job."

Truly excellently prepared food in
a modest setting. Prices are a bit expensive by Sacramento standards. This is not the place for a romantic evening out, as the lighting is bright and the decor is simple and somewhat dated. More appropriate for a nice family dinner."
Dined on 10/29/2013
Had heard great things about the
restaurant and we were not disappointed. Wade the owner greeted us by name and gave us a choice of tables. The roasted beat salad was over the top and our entres were fabulous. We've made reservations for next week and taking our neighbors."

This was my first visit to this
restaurant. The experience was delightful. Food was great. I will be back."

It was nice to revisit old
friends, and the food was excellent! We started with the sautéed mushrooms and lentil soup with crab which were very tasty. For the main course we had the filet mignon with crab and the lamb chops, both well-prepared and so flavorful! We can't wait to dine here again!"

We wanted to try something new and
were not disappointed! Every aspect of our meal was superb. The food was beautiful to look at; I had the Coq Au Vin, which was great, husband had the grilled swordfish over risotto, which was great, daughter had the beet salad, which she loved. We all shared the sauteed mushrooms and the Halloumi Cheese appetizer. They were both beautiful and tasty. The wine was fantastic too. Overall, a total 5 ! Highly recommended!"

Best mussels ever! Especially the
sauce! Accolades given by our guests from D.C."

We love Ravenous! Wonderful food,
Brunch on Saturday is AMAZING, Wade (the owner) is the sweetest guy, he greeted us, by name, the second time we went there! If the duck is on the menu...ORDERT IT!"

Such a wonderful experience! The
food was delicious and the service was unreal! I felt like family even though it was my first time there. I can't wait to return and try more of the menu! I can't recomend this place enough!"

Tucked away in a small
neighborhood shopping center in the "Pocket" area of Sacramento, you will find this wonderful gem. The bread comes out warm and toasty in an intimate space of less than 10 tables around you. Usually, there are 4-5 entrees featured each evening with two entrees (risotto and seafood) changes daily. While the entrees are exceptional, the "starters" are the real stars as they are easily shared and quality you would expect in a 5-Star restaurant. Unfortunately, I didn't try the desserts which looked amazing at both neighboring tables. One warning is to make reservations early if you can because it fills up fast. I've found a new favorite in Sacto!"

I had mot been to this restaurant
for several years and didn't realize it had changed hands two years ago, but it is still as wonderful as it always was, if not even better. It is quietly one of the best in the Sacramento area."

Enjoyed Christmas lunch with old
friends. Food was great and presentation exceptional. Wade as usual is a one man band provided efficient and friendly service . One of our favorites."

My two sons and I enjoyed a
charming, casual, but very tasty dinner at Ravenous. We chose the haloumi cheese bruschetta as our appetizer. Very nice. I chose the small dish of mussels as my entree. They were wonderful, there were plenty of them, and the broth screamed "butter some french bread and dunk--now! So I did just that. Both men had crabcakes which they enjoyed. My 'I always over order so I have something for my midnight snack son' also ordered the steak with risotto and a lovely cheesecske dessert. Most of that entree went home with him. I felt obligated to finish his cheesecake--yummy. It's lovely to have such a pleasant dining place here in the Pocket."

Dinner at Ravenous is always a
pleasant experience. It is one of our favorite restaurants. Food is great, staff is always friendly and attentive, they greet us by name. I rated the ambience as good only because it is a small, intimate restaurant that does not have the glitz of a large place, but it is very comfortable."
Dined on 11/16/2013
The food was worth the wait! We
had reservations and when we arrived the table wasn't ready yet. We were immediately acknowledged and invited to sit at the bar and were well cared for with wine tasting. Bread and appetizers til the table was ready. The Tamarind Duck was delectable, flavorful and moist...cooked to perfection. Those I dined with had the filet mignon, scallops risotto and lamb and all gave a thumbs up. The food is a bit on the pricey side, so be prepared for a hefty tab."
Dined on 10/27/2013
As always the food was wonderful.
The scallops were cooked to perfection. I didn't even want to chew them, just let the bite rest on my tongue and melt away! The cinnamon used in the sauce for the lamb shank was an inspired and wonderful choice. Ravenous has always maintained the highest standards in their menu and our server,April, is always a breath of fresh air. Ravenous never disappoints!"
Dined on 10/26/2013
We experienced outstanding and
personal service in this very small restaurant. Both appetizers (caprese salad and sautéed mushrooms) and entrée's (scallops and coq au vin blanc) were very tasty and well-prepared. The latter dish is a fresh take on a French classic -- good job!"
Dined on 10/3/2013
We were really proud to have been
the ones to introduce our friends to Ravenous! They live in midtown, so they've got a much larger selection of great restaurants close to their home. It was so nice to be able to have them join us at a restaurant in our neighborhood and have them be so impressed. They, like us, enjoy great food and drink served in a friendly yet professional manner in a space that's designed stylishly, but not stuffy and pretentious. We went on a Wednesday evening when the café offers an option of it's fixed menu. It looked fabulous, but each of us ended up ordering other items off the menu.. Despite the tempting fixed offering, the price may have been just a tad high for just a fun casual night out. We shall return!"

This restaurant is like a little
gem in that I never knew it existed until reading about it in Yelp. We tried it for dinner and were pleasantly surprised at the quality and great taste of our food. The service was first class and the staff were friendly and knowledgeable about the entrees and wine."

Ravenous Cafe ranks right up there
with the best resaurants in town. The food & service are top notch. We had a last minute change in our Open Table reservation, and the staff was extremely gracious in accomodating us. The halibut special & the cog au vin (regular menu) were excellent. I've had dinner, lunch and brunch here, and have enjoyed all of my sellections. The chef is a master at plating gorgeous dishes, and his sauces are exquisite. I've never had anything that I wouldn't hesitate to order again. If you are a hamburger fiend, go in for the burger at lunch. The owner is also a sommelier, and the wine list is large and varied, The staff can always make a very knowledgeable suggestion for a glass or bottle to go with your meal."

I found this restaurant on Yelp
and make a reservation through Open Table. I was pleasantly surprised to find that everyone loved their dishes, including myself. Sea bass over risotto Cheesy risotto BLTE sandwiches petite filet in wine reduction Caprese salad with grilled tiger shrimp Wade the owner served us and was friendly, informative and helpful in addressing some special requests. The food was fresh and well-priced. We enjoyed every bite. Had a nice glass of house wine (Cabernet)."

Best crab cake in town. Two of
those with a small salad would make a great dinner for those who don't always want a steak. Wade ensures that you have a great dinner and really cares for each individual's food preferences. Can't wait to go back."
Dined on 7/31/2013
I had the swordfish and it as well
as its accompaniments were outstanding. Caprese salad was best I've ever had. There were 6 of us, 4 kids (on the older side) and everyone loved what they got. Service was both fun and attentive as well as extremely helpful. Husband's rib eye was large and allegedly fabulous---he couldn't even share one bit! Caesar salads were really, really good."
Dined on 7/13/2013
Tucked in strip mall and pocket,
you wouldn't think much of the place, but the food is outstanding. Pork loin with saffron mashed potatoes (have never had saffron in mashed potatoes before -- excellent idea) and a honey-madeira sauce was a stand-out. Fresh ingredients, unique flavor combinations, and flawless execution."
Dined on 7/4/2013
Wade and Roberto delivered as
always! Wonderful Risotto and Pork Loin dishes accompanied by wine and great company! We'll be back very soon!"
Dined on 7/3/2013
Have enjoyed both lunch and dinner
here multiple times and it has always been wonderful. They also have daily specials which have been new every time we have gone. Wade always makes you feel welcome and is incredibly knowledgeable about the food entrees and wine list. Just a relaxing, enjoyable experience."

Food quality has declined
significantly since my last visit. Otherwise a pleasant place with attentive staff. Sad to see this place slip."
Dined on 5/11/2013
Great restaurant tucked away in
small corner shopping center, a true neighborhood gem. Small restaurant, comfortable decor, personable owner who gives your visit that something extra to add to your dining experience here. Small menu, daily specials, great choices. Food was well prepared, very tasty, flavorful, and plenty to eat. Nice dessert choices and a wine list to complement the menu. From comments heard from other diners, this place popular with locals as well as folks traveling through like me. Service was excellent. Definitely will return next time in the area."

The bay scallops were out of this
world, but the Caesar salad dressing to light and not enough. The escargo and portabella was confusing, the flavors just weren't right"

find, excellent food and great service. I would highly recommend to anyone looking for a good local and quality place to dine. The only negative feedback I can offer is that parking is challenging as they share space with 24 Hour Fitness"

What a find! Despite its location
in a mall, Ravenous Cafe is a first-rate restaurant. Great ambiance. Owner Wade Sawaya welcomes diners and provides personal attention. He offers excellent recommendations about food / wine (loved the albarino), plus impeccable -- and never intrusive -- service. A very nice, if small, selection of appetizers and entrees. I ordered the caprese salad and coq au vin blanc. Both were unbelievably fresh and flavorful. The chicken, cooked to perfection, was moist and tender. It came on a bed of mashed potatoes, spinach, carrots, and mushrooms, with plenty of sauce. Scrumptious! Ample portions (lots of leftovers). Tasty dessert, too (a gourmet lemon sorbet). I highly recommend this place!"
