It was hard to hear the waitress or my companion. Food took a long time (40 minutes) and the ribeyes were tough. The flavor was ok, but this should be a very tender piece of meat and we struggled to cut them. (Medium rare and medium) The building is cool, but there are many other restaurants in this price range with better food, service, and ambiance.

+ The atmosphere was great. The staff was friendly. + Kudos to the bartender, the holiday spice sangria is delicious. - The waiter did not seem to know details of the dishes. When I asked about what a dish included his response was "great things, you're going to love it"...Not what I asked, but thanks for reassuring me. + I had the hanger steak which was $28 and it was served with Yorkshire pudding, ample amounts of roasted cauliflower, and a large slice of colcannon. - My boyfriend (I took him here as a surprise for his birthday) had the Ribeye which was $45 (price not listed as it was market price) and it was listed to come with seasonal veggies. The seasonal veggies consisted of a few tiny pearl onions and few bite sized pieces of potato. -I did not complain while at the restaurant because I did not want to put a dent in an evening I had planned out so thoroughly. However, I could tell he was disappointed in the fact that his dish was twice the price and had merely half the serving size as mine. The steak was delicious aside from the 3 pieces he had to take out of his mouth while trying to chew because it was not meat or fat.

I selected the restaurant for a quiet dinner with a friend. Unfortunately due to the level of the noise it was not possible to enjoy a quiet dinner. The food was excellent although a bit overpriced. Furthermore, my friend's steak was under cooked, although I enjoyed it the next day for lunch as I enjoy my steak rare. The restaurant did provide a complimentary desert. The service was not up to my expectations for a high end restaurant. At this point it is not likely that I would return for dinner, although I might return to experience the bar.

The place is beautiful on the inside, best table might be at the entrance of the open brick oven. Service was just o.k.. An employee who took our order, committed a couple of issues when he tried to correct my French friend, on how to pronounce items on menu (French items mind you). The food was good, however, we were disappointed to find out that items we went their specifically to have (as per the menu on Open Table...were not on their actual menu. All and all, I would recommend it, it was a very nice place.

Raven and Rose is always consistent and consistently good! I often go there for lunch and it's a beautiful, historic home that has been remodeled through LEED standards. So not only is it gorgeous and back to its original period, it's also energy efficient and sustainable! I have to be honest, the sandwiches are fantastic here as is the fish and chips. However, their pastrami steak is truly one of the best flat iron steaks I've had anywhere...it's tender and smoky! Wonderful! Service is always good and top notch...

The building itself is interesting, and very nice inside, but we would not go back. I'm not a cheapskate, but when the least expensive wine by the glass is double digits, that's a bit much. In addition, it was chilly inside, and one of the workers said they would adjust it to make it warmer, but never did. When we walked in, they asked if we were going to "the show", but we weren't. As a result, it seems we waited longer for our selections. After all, how long does it take for oysters on the half shell and steak tartare? Nothing to cook, folks! On top of that, the tartare was very bland.

We had a 6:45pm reservation for a quick bite prior to an 8pm show at the Schnitzer auditorium. We spoke to the hostess and our waiter about our time constraint, and he pointed out menu items he could get to us quickly. The oysters and cocktails were great, and he assured us the entrees would be right out. At 7:15 and 7:30 the waiter told me our food would be right out. After 7:40 I told him we had to leave. He told us another group had ordered several of the rabbit dishes and "clogged up the cooking line." Not sure why he didn't bring our other dish to share, or offer an alternate meal. We would have been happy with anything, just wanted a bite to eat before the show. We paid the bill and rushed to our show disappointed and very hungry.

Eight of us came for brunch on a Sunday morning. Our waiter was energetic and pushed the doughnuts of the day. The doughnuts got to the table before the coffee. The food was generally good, with the exception of the hollandaise, which was too lemony for most people's taste. The food arrived in batches, with one of the diners waiting awhile for his while ours got cold. We had to ask several times for coffee refills. We had to ask twice for salt and pepper and butter for our cold toast. If they were short-handed that morning, it would have helped if someone told us. We will not be returning.

A salad we ordered never came & our meal came out very slow, but was worth the wait. Butterscotch pudding lasted 5 seconds - sooo good. The 70's music playing was icing on the cake!

Service was pretty bad, and table not ready at reservation time and was being pushed to eat at the bar by multiple people. Wrong food placed in front of us, wine not refilled, wrong bar drink, little follow up, dessert taken away before finished after not bring the right dessert items. I'm not usually crazy picky but for the costs here, I expect better.

Made a reservation and table was ready within a minute of our arrival. Service was great. Looked like only one vegetarian option on the menu and it was pasta. We all had meat. Three of us had the hangar steak. We all liked it a lot, but the portion was quite large and we all took home leftovers. The fourth person had the pork and said it was also quite good. There was some disappointment in the beer list, but that was probably because the restaurant was participating in a "fresh hops" event in Portland and the beer drinkers all preferred a less hop-intense beer. I ordered a cocktail that wasn't on the menu, but they fixed it for me anyway.

Everything about this restaurant is amazing! The first time we went, it was for my husband's and I 24th anniversary. David, the bartender/manager (?) sent us each a glass of a mixed drink, his own concoction. It was wonderful. We happened to go on a Sunday night, which is their weekly "Sunday Roast." Everything is served family style. After the meal, we had butterscotch pudding, which was deliciously creamy, but not overly sweet. We ended the night by drinking Absinthe. The presentation of the Absinthe, given by Dave, was very cool to watch. We loved Raven and Rose so much, that we came back 2 weeks later, which may not seem that big of a deal to anyone, however, we live in the San Francisco Area. :-)

Food was absolutely excellent! Service was prompt, nonintrusive, and friendly. We were scheduled to see a show at the Schnitzer auditorium at 7:30 and when we let the hostess know she knew all about the artist and we had an interesting conversation about him (Ben Folds). She wanted to go but was working, serving us. These are not cheap eats but worth the time for special occasions. Only complaint? Those single huge ice cubes in the mixed drinks. They seem to be popping up in several locales and I find it impossible to get the right mix of cold ice and alcohol in my mouth. I just don't find that huge cube appealing and it SEEMS to make your actual drink volume smaller. Ditch the big guy or give us a choice of crush or smaller cubes.

Delightful restored and repurposed historic building, fun interior, attentive and friendly service. Before-meal drinks and appetizer were entertaining and delicious, our four entrees were each perfectly cooked -- soft salmon with crispy skin, fork-tender rabbit, thinly sliced tender beef and gently-smoked pork. The sides were intriguing and delicious, from full-flavored lentils to magnificent Yorkshire pudding and all the vegetables in between. Only miss was a delicious sweet onion tart with a slightly tough crust. Couldn't finish butterscotch pudding and chocolate cake, but it wasn't for lack of trying. Beverage list had any choice we could want -- scotch, tequila, whisky, port, wine, imaginative cocktails. Will definitely return.

We had charming service from all of the employees, from the young man learning the front to the person who delivered our plates to the table. I first ate at R & R for a friend's large birthday brunch, where the lively variety of food ordered let us all enjoy many of the dishes on the menu. As we left, an employee responded to our questions about the restaurant by taking us on a tour upstairs, teaching us the history of the Ladd carriage house (now R & R), and the history of its move. The food at R & R is imaginative and tastes amazing. For our dinner last night, we had a 1 hour window before leaving for a concert, and the waiter strategized with us to make sure we ate well and got our check promptly. Dinner was a delight.

We waited 20 minutes for drinks to arrive and one hour for food. My beer came 3/4 full. The food was good to very good. The server was pretty bad in general--she forgot about the specials until we asked if there were any, didn't know whether any beers were on draft that weren't on the menu and was unapologetic for the delays. The tables around us seemed to be having a similar experience, so we didn't take it personally.

Everything we ordered was just about perfect. The salad with smoked cheddar had beautiful fresh greens layered with radishes and just the right whiff of smoky cheese. The pickled bay shrimp appetizer was served in a brine so perfectly balanced and flavorful I wanted to lap it up. It came with incredibly light and tender house-made crackers, fresh bread, and butter. We loved the preparations of both the pork and beef entrees, with portions so generous we took a good amount home to enjoy the next day. We shared the butterscotch pudding dessert and were glad we didn't pass it up. Our waiter was attentive and well-informed, very helpful, as was all the staff. Highly recommend!
