RasikaGreat food, great serviceIt takes a while to get a reservation, but is totally worth it! The Indian food tastes pretty authentic but is also unique. Our waiter was excellent, except it is usually busy and takes a bit for the appetizers to come. We sat at a corner table, but it was slightly noisy in the middle.5/14/2013 12:00:00 AMDid not disappointEntered with high expectations, and both the food and service delivered. The dining room is beautiful albeit quite noisy. Our sever, Vick, was extremely helpful in explaining the menu and making suggestions. We ordered five dishes, all delicious and shared the date and toffee pudding for dessert -- great finish to a very satisfying meal. Will definitely return.5/14/2013 12:00:00 AMTouring DC with a guest?Amazing food, casual fun atmosphere. I will return with my out if town guests in the future.5/13/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat for Special OccasionsThe food is very good. They seem to focus on fresh ingredients and subtly blending delicate flavors that please the pallet instead of overwhelming your taste buds with one or two big flavors.
The service is top notch, attentive but not overbearing and always welcoming. The ambiance is similarly enjoyable. Lively and luxurious but not snooty or posh. The sound levels tend to be more moderate but can get more animated with a packed dining room.
It is very expensive by my usual standards but that's why I like it for special occasions. Sometimes spending a lot of money is part of making a fancy meal feel special.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMMy husband and I loved ourMy husband and I loved our meal at Rasika. We did the 4 course tasting with wine pairing and it was definitely the way to go. The wines paired perfectly with each course and they easily accommodated for my vegetarian needs. Even though the restaurant was packed our scallops came perfectly cooked, which was impressive. We never felt we had to wait to long between courses. We highly recommend Rasika.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMAlways spectacularThis is my third time at Rasika... I came back after three years and still a superb Restaurant. Food, beverage and service are outstanding...great place to dine!5/10/2013 12:00:00 AMRasika is definitely a hotRasika is definitely a hot spot with a long waiting list to get in. The food was very nicely presented and was very tasty, but was somewhat 'anglosized' (i.e. not as authentic, spicy, etc.). The service was great. Make reservations early and enjoy.5/10/2013 12:00:00 AMIncredible tasting dishesBest tasting food I've had in a long time. Waiter was excellent with his recommendations for the non expert.5/10/2013 12:00:00 AMBest tastes in DC! just tryBest tastes in DC! just try all the appetizers for an incredible meal! Singles can frequently sit at the appetizer grill without reservations.5/9/2013 12:00:00 AMBest Indian food!I travel a lot and I must say this is the best I've found so far. Mozen bistro in the Mandarin hotel in Vegas is the closest competitor that I've found to Rasika. We tried the eggplant and the spinach appetizer. Both were astounding. The cinnamon lamb curry was delightfully delicate!5/9/2013 12:00:00 AMUnusual foodsNot your mother's Indian restaurant. Nice fusion of Indian with other influences. A bit loud but able to talk.5/9/2013 12:00:00 AMBirthday lunch was just perfect!Birthday lunch was just perfect! Waitress was Very helpful & food delicious.
We left our silvery shaded umbrella w/ black handle by Tote there- any chance of getting it back?
Thank you so much.
Cathleen 703 930 93225/9/2013 12:00:00 AMExceeded ExpectationsThere are a lot of rave Rasika reviews, and now I can confidently say, the people aren't lying. Not only was the service impeccable and the ambience gorgeous, the food is the stand out. We ordered the Tawa Baingan and Avocado Banana Chaat for appetizers and with one bite were amazed with the depth of flavor and combinations we'd never have imagined together. Being vegan, our server was able to identify which options were safe for me, and there were many which is always a great thing to find out. Our entrees were perfect, not too spicy, the bread couldn't have been more delicious, and the cocktails were masterfully crafted to mask the alcohol content but were delicious and ultimately effective. We left full, happy, and eager to return!5/8/2013 12:00:00 AMThis is my fourth meal atThis is my fourth meal at Rasika and I always look forward to it. The dishes are beautifully prepared and consistent. After a couple of bad expereinces at other Indian restaurants with chef's that are heavy-handed with the spices I appreciate Rasika even more. Rasika is the only Indian food I will eat now. I'm completely hooked! Now I plan to see if Rasika West is as good.5/7/2013 12:00:00 AMRasika SupremeAbsolutely the best Indian food I have ever consumed. The Palak Chaat is why I go so often. I hate spinach but I love that spinach dish! Go figure! It is scrumptious! Great selection of lamb and vegetarian dishes. Treat yourself. You will not be disappointed. Rasika reigns supreme!5/7/2013 12:00:00 AMGood, but overratedWe started with the Palak Chaat, which was awesome. For dinner, I had the Honey Ginger Duck. It was deliciously spiced, but not spicy-hot. My wife, a vegetarian, had the okra. Normally, I don't like okra, but this was very tasty and not slimy at all. She also had the Da, which was good, but way salty. One of the highlights was the Date and Toffee Pudding, which was suggested by our server. It was absolutely wonderful. Overall, it was good, but I thought Rasika was overrated. Before you make a reservation and wait a month, you must try Fusion in Petworth (4815 Georgia Ave NW). They're Crispy Spinach Salad is absolutely heavenly. They're entrees are consistently delicious. It is way underrated, Give it a try before you go to Rasika.5/7/2013 12:00:00 AMAbsolutely worth going to!Superb meal--the fried spinach chaat and the black cod were absolutely amazing but everything was perfectly executed, with a variety of tastes and flavors mixing beautifully together. The deserts were also excellent, including the mango kheer and the mango kulfi (indian ice cream). Only disappointment may have been the bread basket. Breads seemed a little hard and not flaky and melt-in-the-mouth as naan and paratha should be. As an Indian-American, I have very high standards and Rasika exceeded my expectations!5/6/2013 12:00:00 AMNever disappointsI return to Rasika each year for a birthday celebration with friends and during the year for a treat. Friendly, attentive service, imaginative, delightful dishes and cocktails are the expectations and Rasika never disappoints.5/6/2013 12:00:00 AMFantastic!I was in town for a conference and tried Rasika at the recommendation of a friend. I was not disappointed! The butternut squash dish was amazing as was all of the food. Will definitely be back next time I am in D.C.5/6/2013 12:00:00 AMAwesome Chicken Tikka MarsalaTook my girlfriend out for a night on the town and had a blast at Rasika. We've eaten at many Indian restaurants but this is one of the tops. The food and service was excellent. The chicken tikka marsala dish is worth the 3 month reservation wait list. The restaurant décor is beautiful and very elegant. The most surprising part is the price. It was surprising reasonable. I initially thought it was going to be super expensive given the décor and ambiance of the place but was pleasantly surprised. Highly recommend it to Indian food fans out there and for those who are looking for some foodie adventure. Love it and looking forward to coming back again.5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMVery special restaurant. UniquelyVery special restaurant. Uniquely prepared delicious food that is really a spectacular change from the usual. Great wine list, especially if you like German, Alsatian, Austrian etc. wines. The entire experience could not have been better.4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food quality was excellentThe food quality was excellent and preparation was very good. Although the food is very good, it's also expensive for what it is. Lunch for 2 cost $100 before tip and we each had one glass of wine. Given that I had a plate that had 6 small pieces of (chunky) chicken (tandoori), and a side of rice, and a half order of eggplant, the price seemed unreasonable.4/18/2013 12:00:00 AMWe enjoyed most of the food,We enjoyed most of the food, and the waiter was very helpful. I think the prices are very high. An order of paan, for example, is $3, and includes only one piece of bread. I did not like the saffron panna cotta -- the flavor was just too strange.4/18/2013 12:00:00 AMThis was our 3rd time at Rasika. This was our 3rd time at Rasika. We loved it. Loved it.
The service was maybe a touch complacent. Easier to understand if the waiter were the cook.
Still, the food was great. Seriously great. Delicate and inventive, simple and perfect without being fussy or precious or weird.
Although the place is crowded, busy and very noisy, it is visually serene, which helps. The shrimp curry and lemon rice were fragrant, subtle and light, the vindaloos spicy and the green curry hot and flavorful. Crispy spinach -- try it and see.4/15/2013 12:00:00 AMRasika is absolutely amazing.Rasika is absolutely amazing. We tried the four course meal and everything we had was fabulous - and it was a ton of food. A must get is the palak chaat. If you just want something small, palak chaat with some naan and wine would be a perfect meal! Our waiter was great - he offered detailed descriptions of everything we ate.4/11/2013 12:00:00 AMNothing like I've ever experiencedNothing like I've ever experienced before. The flavors, spices, and freshness are truly amazing. The servers are attentive, sweet, patient, etc etc. A must try!4/11/2013 12:00:00 AMA charming atmosphere andA charming atmosphere and attentive staff, tasty and unusual presentations of traditional Indian food with half portions offered make this an enticing place for a single vegetarian diner. The daily fresh juice on a hot day was cantaloupe which was perfect with the spicier dishes. There is also a champagne cooler with ginger...almost a dessert wine. The naan bread was disappointing...a bit soft and tasteless but the raita and chutneys were fantastic. The paneer dish was the best I have ever tasted...almost stunning.!4/11/2013 12:00:00 AMDelicious food! They haveDelicious food! They have a great selection of scotch, whiskey, and bourbon. Some of the selected wines surprised us but all were an excellect complement to the dish. Somewhat pricy ($300 for 2 with tax & tip) but perfect for a special occasion. Only complaint is that the place should add some acoustic tiles on the ceiling to help reduce the noise level. It was almost too loud for normal conversation.4/9/2013 12:00:00 AM
