Diner Reviews
  • "I've now been to Rasika several times - both for lunch and for early dinners - and the food and service have always been excellent. On our most recent visit, they even provided us with extra napkins to help mop ourselves off after having been caught in a summer thunderstorm en route to the restaurant."

  • "I had wanted to go to this restaurant for a long time. I finally made it there for a weekday lunch. The waiter said we must try a dish I'd never heard of, I think it was called: Palak Chaat. It was totally amazing and hard to describe. Our entrees on the other hand seemed very much run-of-the-mill, and the restaurant was a bit pricey for run-of-the-mill."

  • "Was looking forward to celebrating our friends anniversary dinner here. Food was very mediocre in taste. The palak Chaat was very good. The lobster was a total disappointment. Even the Sea Bass-Hyderabad style was quite bland. It is incredibly loud inside. So it is not at all easy to have a conversation across your table, unless you are just a couple. All in all would not recommend to my friends. Service was very good."

  • "The food was fantastic, one of the best meals I have had in a long time. I would recommend Rasika to anyone that likes Indian food. The restaurant is beautiful and our server was very good. Exceptional."

  • "The food is so good that I can have it for dinner every night! This is a compliment I only save for my mother's meals! Enough said."

  • "This place came highly recommended and I was very impressed. Outstanding food."

  • "Had the tasting menu with wine pairings. Really nice flash-fried spinach on the front end; super dessert sampler on the end. In the middle, particularly the lamb & chicken mains, it was just average. Wines were a little above average, but didn't grab me. Service was attentive but not overbearing. It was loud to the point that I could only hear the wait staff descriptions of the courses about 50% of the time, which was too bad because that's part of the fun. With tip, dinner for two was $240, so not necessarily a good deal for the price. I'll try it again, because I've had a really nice lunch experience there before, but they'll have to kick it up a notch to keep me coming. I will probably order off the menu next time."

  • "My mother and I were in town for a conference and wanted to go to a special place to celebrate her birthday. I chose Rasika because of the overall great reviews online. We weren't disappointed with the food or service. We had the black cod & palak chaat, based on recommendation from other reviewers. I'd definitely agree with them: these dishes were scrumptious. The downsides from our visit were 1) the level of noise - maybe it was the particular crowd that night but my mom and I had to talk very loudly to each other in order to be heard 2) the table we got was out of the way without much of a view, but as they were packed that night, I guess I can't complain. I'd consider Rasika to be a place to try at least once for the experience."

  • "Having lived in India and also being a foodie I have high standards. You won't be disappointed by Rasika. Great variety with modern twists."

  • "Great Indian food and nice atmosphere. Make a reservation as it is hard to get a table otherwise."

  • "I just took my sister and bridesmaid here as a thank you gift, and Rasika did not disappoint. Some restaurants you go multiple times and it gets old. But, not Rasika, if anything, my meal was even better this time! Items we had: Palak Chatt, Black Cod (this one is a must), Butter Chicken, Lobster Moliee and Spicy shrimp something. So good, and a great value for the quality food."

  • "Had expected more. Everything was well prepared. Service was uneven. Very noisy, had to work yo be heard. Nice atmosphere, a little cold and formal. Have had better Indian food elsewhere. Prices were reasonable"

  • "This was my first time eating Indian food and it was wonderful. I already want to go back. We ordered the six course tasting menu with a mix of meat and vegetarian entrees. All the dished were great and the portions very plentiful. I'm not good with spicy and only one of the dishes was too much for me. Wine pairings were okay but not great. Service was very attentive except that the hostess knew it was my husbands birthday and they did nothing, not even a wee little candle on his carrot cake. We'll be back to explore more of the food and order off the regular menu."

  • "Rasika delivers on classy Indian food. The flavours are full on and just yummy! Their crispy spinach dish is delicious. All 4 of our party cleared our plates! My teenage children had the date and toffee pudding and raved about it! Staff were attentive and friendly. Restaurant quite loud but good atmosphere. Definitely recommend!"

  • "I am not terribly fond of Indian cuisine although I do indulge as my boyfriend so enjoys the flavors found in India. To my surprise, every morsel that I tasted was indeed flavorful and very agreeable to my palate. We ordered several appetizers and one entree with the grand finale of a dessert. Oh my, we were sated and so very content with the melange of flavors in each dish. So glad we came upon a review which gave Rusika such a high-rating that prompted our making a reservation. Our dinner was the grand finale to a wonder long-weekend in the DC."

  • "Had the 6 course tasting experience here. The crispy spinach really lives up to the hype. Both the shellfish and Cod literally melt in your mouth. If you are looking for a middle ground between the extremes of Eastern or Western Indian cuisine. This is the place to be. It expands on the fusion with class and uniqueness."

  • "I made a reservation for my group of 5, which was great since the wait time was 2 hours otherwise. The food was delicious and the service was amazing. A friend ordered a drink that she didn't particularly care for and our server replaced it for her. Palak Chaat was amazing."

  • "Although we had reserved a table we found ourselves at the restaurant very early and decide to ask if we could be taken early. Given that it was July 4th we thought we had little chance of this. However, the maître d was very nice and explained they had no table available however a full menu was available at the bar. We opted for this and we're not disappointed. Gillian, the bartender, was excellent, and her recommendations were first class. Food was tasty and piping hot. We even managed to share a dessert. Nothing was a problem, service was with a smile, and if ever We are lucky enough to visit Washington DC again this restaurant would be on our to do list."

  • "Rasika is some of the best Indian food in the U.S. It is also one of the best restaurants in D.C. Service was excellent, attentive but not smothering. A bit loud, but mostly because everyone is loving the food and fun. Food arrived hot in timely manner, despite the completely full restaurant. Tough to get a reservation sometimes, but when you can it is SO worth it. I go every time I am in D.C. A true gem!"

  • "We had a wonderful dining experience at Rasika. Our table was ready for us when we arrived. Our waiter kindly asked us if we needed to dine in a hurry so could accommodate us. He made several recommendations for wine which were spot on. The wine menu is helpful too since it groups wines according to dry-sweet. The food is beyond belief. We had a cauliflower starter along with the crispy spinach. For a main course we had lobster and a pilaf seasoned slightly with lemon. For desert we had the spice cake with cardamom ice cream. We dine at Rasika every time we visit D.C. We only wish we could go more often."

  • "We've been to Rasika three or four times, but this was the least satisfying. The food was very good, especially the appetizers, but the service was rushed. We ordered four appetizers and two entrees. In the past the appetizers were spaced but this time they all came out at the same time. Even worse we were still eating them when the entrees arrived and were plunked down on the table. It was obviously overcrowded and we weren't ready for them. We were out of the restaurant in under an hour - hardly a leisurely dining experience! Is this gourmet dining or fast food? We'll try Rasika again but if this experience repeats itself it will be our last time."

  • "The food at Rasika is just wonderful. It is creative and tasty with a good selection of vegan options. The service was friendly and attentive. The server was well aquatinted with both the food and wine options. The only downside to this restaurant is the noise level. It is impossible to have dinner conversation without shouting above the din to be heard. While we really enjoyed the food and service, we would not choose this restaurant to have dinner with dining companions as conversation is impossible. Should this issue be remedied, we would be regulars."

  • "Great food as always but we were stuck with the pushiest waiter. I understand if some dishes aren't being ordered that particular day but I should never feel pressured into getting appetizers or entrees that neither my fellow diners nor I have an inclination to try. Being repeatedly told "I strongly recommend this dish" over and over again after expressing disinterest quickly left a bad taste in everyone's mouth. I've come here multiple times before and have had had the most attentive service. I hope my most recent experience is not an indication of the direction Rasika is taking with its staff."

  • "We are from India and have eaten in some of the best restaurants there but they pale in comparison to Rasika. Based on all the reviews and the press, we went in with very high expectations but incredibly, those expectations were surpassed. Everything was top notch - if we could, we would visit again and again and again and again....."

  • "The food is fantastic, the bar scene is very vibrant here (yet small - good while you're waiting for a table). The service left something to be desired, however overall it was a great night. If you're going for a casual date, I would recommend this place, but if you're going for something a bit more fancy/romantic, I would go with Rasika's West End restaurant."

  • "It seems Rasika has become our go-to place for celebratory dinners --anniversarys and now birthdays too -- and we have never been disappointed. All four of us liked what we ordered, which was 2 chicken dishes and 2 fish: the trout was great, as was the Chicken Tikka Masala. For appetizers the Palak Chaat was a huge winner, as always. The food is terrific, the service is efficient and caring, the wine and liquor lists have some lovely surprises (cucumber infused Gin!) -- what's not to love?"

  • "Rasika is my go-to place for an all around great dining experience! The food, service, and atmosphere are all top notch. I've had good (and mediocre) Indian food elsewhere, but this is simply the best! The staff is professional and personable, and well informed about the menu. They will even help you with your order if you aren't overly familiar with Indian food. You have to try the Lamb Kathi Roll, Lobster Moilee, Chicken Tikki Marsala, and Palak Chaat. And don't forget the Naan to soak up all that lovely sauce! Well done Rasika!"

  • "Made reservations for my boyfriend's birthday and wasn't disappointed. From the fish to the spinach, and the potato pancakes to the chicken entrees, everything was perfectly prepared with some of the most aromatic and wonderfully paired spices I've ever had. The place was packed [Friday night] so the service was a bit hurried, but staff were aware of the delays and very apologetic and eager to please. Would definitely come here again not just to celebrate, but to literally try everything on the menu."
