Diner Reviews
  • "Everything was awesome. The cod was amazing. I have never had a fish so well cooked (and I've dined at many of the top seafood restuarants in the world). Highly recommend."

  • "I go there for specific things-- palak chaat, chicken tikka masala & lamb chops. I have never been disapponted. I've treid many other menu items- but these 3 are always on my list of must haves each & every time."

  • "We have been trying to go to Rasika for a while now, because so many friends told us great things. We managed to finally get a reservation at 9:15pm on a Wednesday, and we had high expectations. The dishes were loaded with salt (and I eat quite salty). It is easy to make "yummy" dishes when loading them with salt, but taste in food should come from the fool, not from the salt. The highlight of the meal was the mango tarte tatin (not really an Indian dish), which was very good, followed by the chicken tikka. Everything else was just ok. There are many more Indian restaurants which provide tastier more authentic food, and don't give you a heart attack. Won't be back."

  • "I have been to Rasika three times now over the past 3 years when visiting Washington DC. Their food is exquisite, service impeccable, and wine list extensive and well-suited to the menu. Not only is this the best Indian restaurant I have ever experienced, but Rasika ranks among my all time best 10 restaurants period! Rasika should be a mandatory part of any Washington DC itinerary!"

  • "Love this restaurant. The spinach dish was incredible. We had a selection of appetizers and a couple of main entrée curries and all was delicious. Service was great. Will go back again when I'm in DC. Get reservations early as they are always booked!"

  • "Excellent authentic Indian food with superb service. Can't recommend Ross Sica Haley enough. Great for special occasions with friends or family."

  • "This was my first time visiting an Indian restaurant and I must say that I enjoy every second we were there. Our reservation was at 8:45, unfortunately we arrived 5 mins late but the hostess was so understanding and friendly AND they still had our table ready. The table was beautifully arranged and set apart from other guest, lighting was low and very romantic, the food was "oh so tasty" and our waiter was very attentive...my husband always told me "there is more to life than just French fries", I think he's correct because I'm hooked on Rasika!!"

  • "Rasika is a great restaurant for wonderful food. The fried spinach alone is worth the trip. My friend is primarily vegetarian and she did not lack for options. The waiter was a stand-out when it came to service. Very enjoyable dining experience."

  • "This restaurant is extremely overrated . I cannot believe it generates the attention it does"

  • "We were excited to dine at the original Rasika after having a dinner of a lifetime at the newest Rasika in the West End. What a disappointment. We had a lovely table for four by the front window, but the noise was deafening and almost impossible to hear each other at the table. Our food was good, but each dish took forever to arrive and our waitress rarely stopped by other than to apologize for the wait. One dish arrived nearly at the end of our meal. The restaurant is charming and the menu is fantastic, but execution among the wait staff needs to improve."

  • "I heard wonderful things about Rasika and so glad I could confirm them! When you go, two words: palak chat! Our server was friendly, the food was delicious and reasonably priced. Can't wait to dine there again!"

  • "From the moment I walked in until the moment I left, Rasika provided a wonderful experience. The entire staff was professional and curteous including our server, Issayas, as well as the hostesses and managers. I feel that this service accompanied with the great food makes Rasika a genuinely superb restaurant and a must visit! I will most certainly return!"

  • "I went for an early dinner before a show at the theater next door. Rasilka has a great prix fixe menu for the early dinner crowd (before 6:30). Thee courses for $35. I was with 2 friends so we basically ordered one of almost everything from the appetizer, entree and dessert menu. Service was attentive and impeccable. the FOOD was amazing. one of the things I like most about Raskia is the nuance of flavors and spices. while things have a kick to them, the heat doesn't overwhelm the complex flavors of the food. Also: the prix fixe menu is a lot of food, folks. we were stuffed!"

  • "Wait staff was very attentive without being intrusive. Food was outstanding. When our server found out it was our anniversary he made sure to give us amazing service but still gave us plenty of time alone together. Cannot recommend highly enough."

  • "I travel extensively and have been to some great places to eat. Hands down this is the best meal I have ever had. We had the chefs tasting menu. Black Cod, fried spinach dish and buttered chicken were stand outs. Great service. Worth every penny."

  • "Absolutely outstanding. The food--every single offering--is sublime. The service was impeccable. If you like Indian food, you'll be delighted."

  • "One of the best Indian restaurants anywhere. 4 course tasting menu was great for lunch."

  • "We went with high expectations based on the reviews and were very disappointed. We are from the UK where Indian food is almost a national dish but we also visit India on a regular basis and this did not fit the bill. We ordered Papadoms and we were served with corn chips out of a packet (disappointment 1). The Palak Chat was OK but still nothing special. Chicken Tikka was lucky if it had seen any spices (disappointment 2) and was just like a grilled chicken breast. Chicken Tikka Massala had little taste (disappointment 3) and was not very spicy. Pilau rice was actually fried rice (disappointment 4). Overall a disappointing experience. If you are a true Indian foodie I would not recommend this restaurant."

  • "Our waiter, Jason, made our dining experience terrific. He was helpful, without hovering. He checked in with us appropriately but also let us enjoy our drinks. I eat out several times a week, and I would rate him as one of the best waiters I've experienced. I hope Rasika appreciates how great he is!"

  • "It's not just the quality of the food and service that makes a trip to Rasika so enjoyable, it is the consistency of that quality, visit after visit, that makes it a special place for a great meal. Our simple shared dinner the other night of spinach, cauliflower, lentils, shrimp and naan left us thoroughly satisfied."

  • "My DC trips are not complete without it. Innovative, always perfect modern Indian food. I CRAVE the flash fried spinach. Easily, one of the best restaurants in DC"

  • "I always try to get a reservation here anytime I have family or a close friend visiting. The food here is delicious and some of the dishes are truly unique. Palak chaat is amazing. The chicken tikka and tandoori chicken with quail egg are excellent. My favorite was the apple jalabi dessert with cardamom ice cream. I have never had anything like that at any Indian restaurant ever! I would recommend this place for any special occasion or special person in your life! Weekends can get very busy. We had 830pm reservation but they were running 30min behind. They apologized several times and have us complimentary wine so we were all happy. The service is great. It is no surprise why this restaurant is such a success."

  • "Rasika is always busy when I go, but it always delivers -- great food, different than the ordinary Indian restaurant, very good service (if a little buttoned-up, but very responsive), and a good atmosphere. It would make a great business lunch/dinner but also a great group dinner. The ambiance is not particularly unique but it is lovely inside -- not a romantic or cozy place though. It's usually on the louder side, but I don't have a problem hearing my dining companions unless we are seated in the middle of one of the larger areas. The palak chaat is the thing most people don't leave without ordering and it is delicious -- as is the black cod and also the chicken tikka masala -- best you'll have in the city."

  • "We had an excellent meal at Rasika. They were very crowded and seated us about 15 minutes late from our reservation time but they were very apologetic and gave us a free appetizer. The food and service was excellent!"

  • "The meal started off with complimentary champagne for our anniversary at which point we were already sold. They know how to do it right and we'll be back!"

  • "I had been to Rasika for lunch once but getting a reservation for dinner for two, that didn't require waiting a week, was challenging. So I made my reservation last week. After having dinner, I realized why. Rasika is the kind of restaurant where you want to linger over your meal. Everything was delicious. We started with the Crispy Spinach and Ragda Patties which go well together if you're sharing but are delicious by themselves. For entrees we ordered the Chicken Green Masala and the Crispy Fried Fish. Absolutely delicious. Our server was nice, not overly talkative which works fine for me. Glad that I made the reservation a week ago. Enjoyed every bite."

  • "It is hard to say enough about how consistently excellent Rasika is in all phases of the dining experience. I have never, repeat never, had a bad meal or experience there. Everything is top notch from the food to the service. This is my go to #1 spot for special occasions and entertaining special guests from out of town."

  • "As a first time diner at Rasika, I was unsure what to expect. A highly rated Indian restaurant filled me with skepticism. However, we walked in 5 minutes early for our reservation and were immediately seated. Our server was top notch. Every single item we ordered was exceptional and our bill was less than expected. I am skeptical no more. We will dine here often."

  • "As an Indian visiting the US, I can surely state that some of the dishes, which are standard fare in India, have been given a make over! The taste and experience of dining have been truly memorable. Hope to come by again"

  • "Wonderful experience at Rasika. Food was out of this world, as was the service. Our three kids were treated like adults and the waiter knew just what to order to satisfy their less sophisicated palates. Can't say enough good things about Rasika. A MUST DO in the DC area."
    Dined on 3/24/2014
  • "The appetizers and vegetable dishes were the best. We also ordered two meat dishes and I was not impressed with either of them. The sea bass cooked in banana leaves was delicious as was the cauliflower with peas."
    Dined on 3/24/2014
  • "Wonderful tastes, beautiful presentation. I would recommend you share numerous side dishes (as we did). Crispy spinach, cauliflower, eggplant, potato, lentil, naan bread, lemon cashew rice, fig pudding, cardamom ice cream. Everything was wonderful."

  • "I've been dining at Rasika for many years and have always made it a point to bring out of towners so they can expereince the amazing food and ambience. However, during my last visit on 3/22 I was extremely embarrassed by your protocol on serving alcohol. I was dining with a friend from the UK, who is nearly 30, and your restaurant refused to accept his UK driver's license, which clearly had his birth date visable, and serve him a drink. I was just amazed that in a city like DC, filled with visitors from abroad who don't carry their passports due to safety concerns, and in a place as upscale and renowned as Rasika such behavior was exhibited. As a lover of your restaurant, I was extremely shocked and dissapointed."
