  • "From entrance to exit the staff is attentive and it is obvious service and customer really, really matter.....food suggestions and explaination were 'spot on"...I look forward to returning and to suggesting them!"

  • "Went here to relax and enjoy good food with friends. Wasn't disappointed. The appetizers are a bit on the smaller portions size, but the entree is well balanced in size."

  • "Great service, friendly staff, innovative appetizers and delicious chicken biryani and also a yummy dish with chunks of tender lamb in a well seasoned brown sauce. My 3rd visit here. PS. There is a salmon appetizer that should be a featured entrée. It is excellent. Sorry, can't remember the exact names of the dishes."

  • "We ate on a Thursday nite @6:30. When we got there the bar was packed and loud. The host tried to take us thru the crowd but reconsidered and took us around via the dining room. He tried to seat us at the back of the bar but it was way too loud. The room is basically an echo chamber. They were kind enough to seat us in the children's area, since no kids were there. The service thru dinner was fine and the food was great. Price was pretty high. At the end of the meal I paid with a partially torn $20 bill. The server caught me at the hosts podium and motioned (since it was so loud) that he wanted me to take it back. I explained it was legal tender but after the manager asked me to exchange it I did so. So bring perfect bills!"

  • "Not for families and is not kids friendly at all. Had made reservation through open table and on arrival they wanted to seat us next to the rest rooms. When asked if we could sit at one of the many tables that was not occupied towards the front of the restaurant, the manager and the owner said they do not want families to be seated in the front and they would rather have corporate customers than have families. The bar section was neither a happening place. So not very sure what the theme or the focus is of this restaurant."

  • "Pros: food is not bad. Some interesting menu items but way over priced. Our server was excellent. Cons: Alcoholic beverages are way overpriced. $ 10 for a shot. Mixed drinks are really overpriced and weak. Trying hard, but this place reminds me of a typical Indian restaurant, but trying to be more sophisticated. Wait staff passed our table several times before removing our finished plates. Almost as if they wanted to make sure they weren't the ones touching them. Kind of a weird arrogance that I can't explain. Parking is always a PIA on Murphy St in Sunnyvale."

  • "My husband & I came here on Valentine's Day for our first date night since having our second baby 5 months ago. We'd been here once before and loved the food, so decided to come back. They sat us at a table near the front door, and I asked if we could sit in the lounge area but they refused because "all the tables are already assigned" (the restaurant was empty at this point). Then we were at our table for 20 minutes before we had to request service. It took another 15-20 minutes for our drinks to come out. My husband and I were determined to not let this ruin our mood, so we just took it in stride. All-in-all our food was delicious and we enjoyed ourselves. But their service was terrible from the moment we were seated."

  • "Went to Rassams for Valentine's day and it was a great experience. Spices were just right. Every item we ordered were delicious and the presentation tasteful and eye pleasing. Awadh Lamb curry and Konkani shrimp were standout items. Will repeat."

  • "Finally, an Indian restaurant that serves non-greasy food. Thank goodness they didn't have a buffet. Food presentation was very good and so was the food. We went with an Indian co-worker and she thought the food was very good. We had the chaat sampler along with the toasted almonds and baby spinach chaat. Both were very good but the spinach chaat was my favorite. Never had anything so good in an Indian restaurant. We also had the Paneer Asparagus and Mushroom Kadai which was very flavorful. Naan was served hot and was one of the best naan's we've had. We'll be back!"

  • "I am usually very skeptical about attempts to modernize Indian flavors catering to the American tastes because it ends up losing the complex flavors that characterize Indian food. I was pleasantly surprised by Rasam's take on this approach. The flavors were authentic and in some cases even improved but the presentation was definitely modern. The ambience is modern and fresh which matches the food and the presentation. Our waiter did an outstanding job of explaining the dishes. I could see that he takes pride in working there which is a great sign. Overall, very impressed."

  • "Pros - Ambience is good - Taste is good (same old dishes but fancy names) - Food presentation is good - Good service - Not too greasy Cons - Not kids friendly (not good options if your kid can not take spicy food) - Seafood dish we ordered was not cooked thoroughly, strange that the chef did not know hot cook scallop or prawns at diff temp or for how long - Appetizers (actually even the main course) are overly priced as compared to the portion size - Food is priced for a fine dining place but food is not upto the mark, only the ambience and presentation are fancy."

  • "We ordered 2 meat, 2 seafood and 2 veggie dishes, plus rice, naan, raieta, all very good (veggie dishes the lesser of all). Food was a bit cold when it arrived at the table, and portions are on the small side, but most had good and interesting flavor profiles. Good wine list. Dinning room is very noisy, as there are no sound baffles - hard surficed walls and floor with high ceilings, which make for a loud cavernous space."

  • "Some top-notch dishes catapult Rasam's into the top selection among Indian restaurants in the Bay Area. Most noteworthy dishes are the Lobster Caldeen and the Kulfi. The service is friendly, professional and efficient. The serving size is generous for the reasonable price and high quality of ingredients."

  • "I found Rasam's last minute New Years Eve. My girlfriend and I are both vegan, and the menu looked like it could work, but it was fairly limited for us. I received a call shortly after putting in the reservation to confirm everything. It was explained to me that the menu and the price ($40/per) were fixed because of the NYE event they were having that night, and that none of the options on the menu were vegan friendly. After getting the bad news, the gentleman who called me asked if he could call me back in a few minutes. When he did, he told me that he and his staff would fix up a meal just for us! The food and service was excellent, but the fixed price was steep. Drinks weren't even included."

  • "Our first visit to this new restaurant left us looking forward to returning soon. The food was delicious, with several traditional Indian dishes, and several others that were creative change ups on more familiar dishes. Decor is lovely, and the location in downtown Sunnyvale is convenient. This has already joined our list of "regular" places! We dined on the "restaurant" side. A friend had already recommended it based on her visit to the "bar and small plates" side, IC Lounge."
