The Rapscallion Seafood House and Bar is like no other dining experience in Reno.   • "Should have listened to a friend when she told me there are better restaurants. I took my wife there for her birthday even though the reviews were mixed and I was advised not to go there. My wife's filet was horrible (overcooked and tasteless). My mixed grill salmon and halibut were bland even with some sauce on it. The 3 shrimp were excellent. All in all I wasted $117 including tip and wine. Should have gone to In & Out Burger."

  • "My wife and I had lobster which was cooked to perfection and delicious. We split a walnut salad and a bourbon pecan pie, both were mouth watering good. My wife loves your french onion soup which she had and had it Thursday afternoon also. My favorite at your fine establishment is your Oregon sand dabs. Since we live out of town we generally come for lunch while shopping. Prices are reasonable for the quality for food and drink. Service was good as you were busy."

  • "They had large parties, our food was delayed, however, they came twice to keep us informed and at the end (without asking) we got free dessert. This is not an uncommon situation at restaurants, what was rare, was their upfront communications with us and making sure all was OK at our table + they were very nice about it....just for the service I would go back!"

  • "This restaurant is a bit of a disappointment for us. I find it to be very expensive for its location. Not only that it is not in the best neighborhood, the steak is not quite as tasty as Ruth Chris nor Ruby River. Though, steak was cooked to the correct temperature. The service was not the best. One of the side order dishes took awhile to arrive on the table. Either the kitchen forgot to cook it or the waiter forgot to add the order in the kitchen. Waiter had an "episode" in assisting my son to crack open the crab legs. He was fumbling over our food and drinks. Definitely not a restaurant to dine too often."

  • "We arrived early for our reservation and were sat next to the noise and activity coming from the kitchen when there were nicer tables available even when we left. We remember the service that was standard four years ago, but not evident by attitude or enthusiasm at this meal. We are moving back to Reno from Idaho and were disappointed. We will be looking for another special occasion dinner house."

  • "First off, Rapscallions is one of our favorites and we will return despite our last visit there 6/14/14. We love Rapscallions but this night we left wishing we had chosen a different night. We were seated at a small table in the back room where there were two larger tables for groups of 8 or more. Was fairly quiet when we got there but when the two large tables filled up the noise level became unbearable. My fiance and I almost had to holler to hear each other. This night they had one server handling at least 25 diners and it was too much for him. As a result food was slow coming out and there were long waits to have table cleared between courses. As usual the food was excellent and we will return. Usually do about once a month."

  • "I'm not into seafood, but my in-laws from Biloxi were here in Reno for the first time and I asked around; Rapscallions was everyone's #1 choice. Made my open table reservations and the staff were super friendly.Our server Tui was funny and informative, all his recommendations were right on (Halibut, Salmon, Clams and Calimari- ALLLLLL delicious!) and the portions were HUGE. best part- even after dessert, Tui gave us 4 muffins for breakfast the next day. It's the little things, you know?!"

The seafood entrees were outstanding (Calamari and the 9oz lobster my friend ordered), greens were like fresh-picked.   • "I ordered Beef Wellington, what I got was a very good filet sitting on a piece of hardtack with a wonderful reduction. Not exactly what I expected as I have ben a great fan of traditional Beef Wellington, I was both disappointed and surprised. It was an excellent dish, served well.   • "After being seated at our table, it took more than 20 minutes to just get water. The waiter who subsequently was our server walked passed the table numerous times without comment or stating that water would be coming soon. My wife finally went to the hostess station to just get attention. I ordered the scallops which were good, but for $10 per scallop, I will certainly order something else if we ever return. Wife ordered the Ahi appetizer and a side of vegetables which were both good."

  • "We drove down from Truckee just to have dinner at Rapscallions. Although we hadn't been here since last year, Leila, the hostess, remembered us and warmly greeted us. We arrived at 7:30. My martini was spot on. However, like last year, they were out of the prime rib. I opted for a traditional Caesar salad followed by the Calamari Steak "a la Francaise" - absolutely the finest rendition of calamari I have ever had. My dining partner ordered the ahi tuna tartare starter and I was lucky to share a couple bites. His entree was the crab encrusted Alaskan halibut, which was the best he has ever had - and he is from Seattle. Service by James was very attentive and congenial. Atmosphere is warm and cozy. I'll be back! "

  • "Seemed like any other Sunday. Where was the Mother's Day theme? English muffin was served burned. Meal was a little above warm. Flavors were delicious on the crab cakes but pretty tiny. Poached egg was done perfect. Coffee was highly acidic. Server was okay. Champagne was very good. Fruit bowl was nice. Potatoes were tasty but not very warm. Easy to make a reservation on line. Seated immediately. Meal service was timely."

  • "We have enjoyed several lunches here over the past couple of years. We figured Mother's Day would be a special treat. Our reservation was at 2 PM. We were NOT notified that 2 PM was also closing time for lunch on Mother's Day. Thus, one of our first selections (chicken fried steak) was no longer available. :(( On top of that, muffins were no longer available. They did offer a free table dessert for the inconvenience. "

The service was very efficient and friendly. The restaurant has a comfortable yet stylish interior from a day gone by with dark wood paneling and unique lighting fixtures. I love this place! "

  • "Made reservations for our 30th wedding anniversary. Arrived 30 minutes early, thought it was weird that the hostess said OK 'we'll just have to give you another table". never a mention of our 30th from the, observed other waiter pouring wine, we poured our own. The steak was as good as I have ever had, wife's shrimp pasta was very good. Overall good, just no WOW factor for our 30th. "

  • "The AHI tuna was actually yellow fin tuna it was supposed to be seared which to me means a crust on the outside and raw in the center. It was a pale grey on the outside. The chef needs a hotter pan when searing....... Very disapointed ."

  • "I haven't quite figured out this restaurant some dishes are very good while others just miss the mark. We have eaten here a number of times and sometimes the food is very good at others it is not. This was the second time we ate there, with a couple of months in between the first time was great, the second time, not so good---will have to think about returning, as there are too many other more consistent places in town "

  • " Simply the best food I have eaten in Reno. I visit my daughter who lives outside Reno very infrequently and when I do, I try to plan a special dinner with her. Over the years we've been to many different restaurants. Rapscallion Seafood has been the best by far. The scallops were fresh and beautifully cooked. My daughter chose red snapper with a lovely fresh vegetables and kalamata olives. My drinks were excellent, in fact the Lemon Drop was one of the best I have ever tasted. We took deserts home, both were wonderful and large enough to serve more than one person. Service was attentive and personalized. "

  • "This restaurant came highly recommended to me by a friend who typically comes to the Reno area for Conventions. I think this is an appropriate choice for that crowd as it has an interesting ambiance and is set up for high volume crowds. It has a bit of a commercial feel. About the food. They do what they do well. their fish entrees are beautifully presented and perfectly prepared. However their crab cake appetizer was set in a balsamic glaze that was too strong and offputting, a very contradictory choice l thought. Also, the baklava was "tough" and didn't taste fresh. The service was adequate enough. The take home for me is that there are a half dozen other places very close by that are a much better choice and experience for the $."

  • "I came to celebrate my birthday for dinner. The food was very good, our waiter seemed rushed. The gentleman who took our photograph was very nice, I believe it was the manager Patrick. I had requested a particular booth with my reservation and received that without question, which is very much appreciated. I have never received less than stellar service here so I believe this was a bit of an off night. I will absolutely return."

  • "All the various foods were great. The onion soup is a meal in itself. My salmon on a cedar plank was fabulous. My friends both had the halibut and ate every crumb!! They have a nice wine list. I would describe it as moderately expensive but worth the money. In summer times they will have outdoor dining."

  • "We were seated by the service station, the only table there, even though we made this reservation 3 weeks earlier on Open Table. We were celebrating a romantic birthday. NOT. Soup and salad great, our wine was delivered after our curteousy reminder. Our server did bring a bit extra for the wait, which while a nice apology gesture, not an original quest for best-which was what we were after. After all this is Reno's finer dinner houses. The birthday boy had snapper and prawns-excellent... I had their signature scallops very undercooked. The offer to recook was made but I subscribe to never send something back where it was just up to the kitchen to determine "done-ness". It just makes artist chef scream.   • "This was an excellent Friday evening date nite without the kids. The recommendations from our waiter Mathew were spot on. Hard to find excellent service these days but the staff delivered a refreshing hope that great service still exists. Definitely recommend this to anyone seeking fresh seafood with a excellent choice of wines. Recommend reserving a booth rather than a table to add additional privacy and comfort."

  • "The food was very good. It seemed there was a lot of choices that had cream/butter which makes the dish tasty but also very heavy. I'd love to see more olive oil and citrus in the dishes to lighten them up a bit. The cream reminded me of food from the 80-90's. Also, there were so many ingredients involved in so many entreés that keeping some of the dishes more simple would make them even more delicious. But, over all the food was very good. Just an opinion..."
