Diner Reviews
  • "I picked this spot to take my wife out for our anniversary and we were not displeased at all. The food was fantastic, even though we ordered something I don't think I would order again, but that is because of my own tastes. My wife loved it! The service was awesome, our waiter was very friendly, always came by to chat with us for a moment or two and definitely knew his stuff. They were even cool about me bringing in some flowers early to have them delivered to our table as a surprise to my wife. She had no idea! We will definitely be going back there and will be bringing some friends as well."

  • "We went there with a coupon for wine and cheese. The glass of wine was excellent. The cheese was great quality, but the bread they use is buttered. In my opinion, buttered toasted bread with my brie is a bit of overkill. My companions thought the same. Roasted Cauliflower- good, but nothing to write home about. And the sauce was thisclose to being just mayonnaise. We all agreed the 48 hour rib steak was excellent- if it hadn't been as salty as it was. The panna cotta dessert was delicious paired with a juicy red. The oysters are okay-to-good; but I am from Seattle and used to fresh-caught so I am a bit of a snob. The other people in my party liked them a lot."

  • "It was a lovely time for parents wanting a mellow place with excellent service and amazing food and wines!! It was a perfect evening!!"

  • "The food is pretty good for the most part. Thats why we keep going back. Been there about 5-6 times. However, every time we go, the service is poor. The place can be pretty much empty, and the host, servers, and bartenders are all standing around talking with each other, rather than paying attention to our needs. And we over hear some of the conversation between the staff that is highly inappropriate. I should record it next time, its unbelievable. As a former restaurant manager, I would fire the entire front of the house staff, and just keep the chef. Kudos to the chef on the Lobster Risotto and Watermelon Steak."

  • "But don't expect something really remarkable memorable. I mean, it's passable. But it just feels like a place that will disappear soon and become something else. But the people were nice."

  • "We'll priced but I found the food to be bland. I was really looking forward to the chicken mole and was really let down. I go hunting twice a year for the best White tail around the West Coast. The venison tartare that we had tasted was horrible. The fresh color wasn't there and the texture was nasty, almost like Vienna sausage paste. If it ever existed. Again good resturant mediocre food for the vibe this place is trying to achieve."

  • "This is truly a gem. Excellent, very innovative food, and amazing cocktails & wines. Very unique dishes!! Great for groups of 5-10 people who want an unforgettable night out but also a place to talk... I was amazed that the prices were not too high.. Will certainly go back!"

  • "Great place to go if you want good food and service, but don't have time to book far in advance. We ordered a lot and shared dishes as our server recommended, which I too would recommend. All was tasty. For me though, the decor while fancy was not quite working. The upholstery felt like it was trying to be uber modern yesterday, but not quite today. They have beautiful stone lit panels throughout that really need colors and materials to complement them. We were a group concerned with food, service and conversation though, so this worked well. Also tables are not on top of each other which allowed for a private meal. We were there at 7pm on a saturday. Not sure what it is like later, but for us it was pleasant."

  • "Very nice atmosphere. Food was delicious. Only complaint was there are no salads on the menu. Otherwise, we enjoyed the experience and will definitely go back."

  • "My wife and I went early and had the place seemingly to ourselves for a long while - the layout of the restaurant makes it feel like you are all alone even when the place is still 1/2 full. Nice selection of small plates to share though a little heavily slanted towards meat dishes. We'll be going back but only for special occasions - two of us w/o alcohol spent a little over $140 with a tip for the very friendly waitstaff Tom"

  • "The menu is confusing. Some of the food items are dry. Small plates to share but very small. Gnocchi was not made with pasta. The tempora chichen was fried and heated over. Tasty but not what was expected. The choclate cake was dry. "

  • "From the moment we walked in we new this was going to be special. Not only was the food superb, the staff was welcoming attentive and warm throught the whole experience. 7 courses with paired wines, everything unique and tastie. "

  • "Stick to dinner. Brunch was disappointing. They need to work on a more knowledgeable staff regarding food ingredients and prep work. Desert was brought out before main course. Check was delivered to a mom on Mother's Day, which I found lacking in thought. Plus 2+ hours from sit down to check being delivered. Normally love, but today it was very disappointing."

  • "The special Mothers Day brunch was delightful. My wife had brioche French toast and I has grilled salmon. Both were done to perfection. Could not resist the banana bread pudding for dessert. Try it. "

  • "tapas style. small plates, so perfect for sharing as they arrive. nothing arrives at the same time, so realy easy to enjoy a bite (or two) of whatever someone else ordered. food was generally excellent. brussel sprouts were great. smoked cauliflower was amazing. the ragout was fantastic. no complaints, at all. easy to miss the place. outdoor patio is a local bar scene that would normally make you think twice. go inside. you'll love it"

  • "A fitting send-off to my life before 50. Fantastic food, surrounded by fun friends. Our waiter, David, was spot-on and gracious. A top-shelf night and restaurant. Thanks Raphael."

  • " Very limited menu. I like small plates but these were teeny tiny. We needed lots of dishes to even feel that we had even eaten a meal. Very expensive for what is was. "
    Dined on 4/19/2014
  • "Really enjoyed the meal. Between 2 of us we had the brussel sprouts, cauliflower, tuna tartar, pork belly, and 48 hour steak. Everything was excellent. Nothing was overly filling, we didn't leave hungry, but don't expect to be stuffed."

  • "Raphael is a gorgeous space! It offers savory and mouth watering small plates of sophisticated bites, blended with the finest and freshest ingredients! Chef Evan continues to shine among his creative choices, excellent presentation, and interesting combinations of savory dishes. He has daily specials...so you should definitely try one, like his watermelon, goat cheese, with crispy pine nuts, with a beautiful balsamic drizzled on top. The Bar Tender, Chris is creative, artful, and friendly, introduces you to drinks that have unusual ingredients, that make his cocktails his signature! The service is friendly and accommodating. I love this restaurant, and highly recommend a visit. Come to Raphael...I 'm sure you will get hooked like me!"

  • "It's hard to review this dining experience. We went early on a Saturday. 6pm and there were only 2 others people dining. With their 2 year old. Who screamed on and off for the 45 minutes we were there. It was uncomfortable that no one else was there but I think it's just a late night spot. The food was good so try it."

  • "This was one of the noisiest restaurants we have been to in a long time. Sat near a table of 20 girls who yelled and screamed the entire time; maybe a bachelorette party . They should have been in a private room or way off by themselves . The manager gave us a free desserts, but there was no place else to sit. We asked to be seated elsewhere when we first sat down. The. waiter told us there was no place for us. Later some people sat near us, complained, and they were moved. Oh well."

  • "If you don't care to wait 2 hours to be served then this is your place, we complaint several times, our waiter was arrogant , he insisted we should order 2 dishes per person, we ordered 5 dishes among the 4 of us. about 1/2 HOUR AFTER WE ORDER THEY SENT AN APPETIZER, we asked once more about the rest of the food and our waiter had the nerve to say he warned us to order more than 1 dish p/p, he said the kitchen was busy, my husband asked to cancel his plate, he was so upset that he couldn't eat, the waiter with a long face and said it's almost here, it took another 7 min more to get the the rest. The only good thing was the manager he apologize very graciously insisting to give him another chance to return, what a way to spoil a night"

  • "I was looking for a nice pretty quiet place to have dinner with a special friend. Raphael was great - friendly, no wait with our reservation, great food, and able to carry on a conversation easily in the nice ambience."

  • "I am I very picky eater and never let people order for me. But I have ordered the chef's tasting menu twice now at Raphael and am just amazed at how wonderful the food. The chef is amazing. He is so talented and makes unbelievably delicious food. The staff is also super friendly which also adds to the overall WONDERFUL experience. I would highly recommend this place to everyone and I would definitely recommend getting the chef's five course tasting menu!!!"

  • "The food was outstanding - it worked well with their small plate sharing idea. We really liked the table angles and booths which give most diners a lot of privacy. The menu was very interesting and we can't wait to go back and try more dishes."

  • "Raphael was just OK this time. We went a month ago and had a superior experience...the seasoning seemed a bit more bland the second time (we ordered most of the same dishes) and service was just so-so."

  • "Tried this place for Valentine's day weekend and went back a month later for my birthday. LOVED everything about it. All small plates so we were able to try a bunch. Loved them all! Beef Tartar was amazing! Banana bread pudding with PB ice cream was one of the best desserts I've ever had! Gnocchi, tempura chicken, sweet, sour, salty brussel sprouts, pork belly, ALL amazing!"
    Dined on 3/15/2014
  • "Let's be quick about this chef who must own a salt mine because everything that was served to my wife on me on 3-13-14 was heavily over-salted.......from the albacore tuna tartare to the dressing on the wild mushroom salad to the rabbit ragu pasta.......the pasta being actually inedible due to so much salt which was worse than the overcooked mushy pasta noodles. The steak tartare was absolutely tasteless. Maybe we should have known something was wrong when we arrived at 730pm and there were only two tables with diners."
    Dined on 3/13/2014
  • "We tried the 5 course tasting menu. Everything was excellent. Our server checked on allergies and dislikes, everything was accommodated without question. I would highly recommend Raphael and look forward to returning soon."

  • "So many great choices...this was like designing our own tasting menu. Loved it! Many tables in nooks & crannies afford privacy worthy of celebrity status...felt like a celebrity myself with the attentive service and the special greeting by the Chef! "Small" plates actually big enough to be your entrée at the end of your tastings. 3-cheese was perfectly matched up, and a great way to start the dinning experience...next time I will go for the 5-cheese! Pork belly worthy of double order (it's that good); tuna tartar was heavenly; shrimp in bisque (not soup) was super flavorful and well-cooked; salmon was deliciously crispy; for the meat-lover in all of us, the 48hr steak was incredible."

  • "Love this restaurant. Extensive wine list and delicious little plates. We really enjoyed the gnocchi, brussels sprouts, fried chicken, roasted chicken, salmon and we ordered seconds on the plates we loved the most. Simply delicious."

  • "Raphael was excellent. The sweet potato gnocchi is an absolutely essential dish, and this place delivers much more value for your buck than, say, Black Market Liquor Bar down the street."
