  • "We celebrated our 22nd anniversary here. Try to get to NYC couple times a year so choosing this dinner was difficult. This was the perfect dinner. Service was excellent; relaxed yet professional. Great atmosphere. Our steaks & frisée salads were amazing. If I lived in the area this would be a go to spot for dinner. "

  • "Though established in 1975, Raoul's harkens back to an older vibe, redolent of Chanel No. 5, small waists, and Sinatra. The food is great, the wine list is small but well chosen, and the atmosphere summons your sexiness. You'll dream in French after dinner, I promise. Wait staff are superb, the neighborhood is fun. Book it well in advance. "

  • "We made a reservation for my girlfriend's birthday. The food was great, the wine was excellent and the host remembered I mentioned it was her birthday and brought out a birthday cake. We were sad that the garden room is now closed (not because of the restaurant but because of the way it was built it violates emergency exit requirements). Regardless the service was excellent as well and the waiter was extremely friendly. We are definitely coming back for another nice dinner. "

  • "The paintings need a finer curatorial touch to mix with the memorabilia. It would bring the once vibrant art scene back to life for so many people who still associate Soho with the vanguard of contemporary culture. Although the paintings and drawings selection represent a side of French taste for the accidental they should be more intentionally representative of vanguard portrait painters. "

  • "Really enjoyed the ambience here - great energy inside of the restaurant, and the decor itself is very reminiscent to that of a hidden Parisian bar/restaurant. I had the grilled octopus salad to start. It was good, but wasn't phenomenal. It would have been better if it had a little bit of a char to it, but it was good. I had the skate wing for an entree, and it was delicious. I've never had skate before, but it was one of the better seafood items I've had in NYC. Overall a great experience."

  • "Step through the door into Paris in the 80s - it was like a trip back in time. And what a good one. Service and food extraordinary. We had the steal au poivre, and it was delicious. Chicken also excellent. Our waiter was a little snooty - another touch of Paris - but he warmed up when someone in our group spoke some French, of course. Great night out, the way dining in NYC used to be. Crowded, loud and fabulous. We will definitely return."

Furthermore, the noise level was elevated due to the dubious song being played, mostly vocals, which makes it difficult for diners to think and speak without being distracted. In summary, good meals were spoiled by the cramp conditions and unnecessary noise."

Service does a very nice job in a very tightly spaced room. But even with that, it is a fun experience. This is not a place to go if you want a quiet out with your significant other, but if you want a fun night out with great food, Raoul's is a great choice. The Chicken and the Steak Frites are both exceptional dishes cooked to perfection."

  • "The food is outstanding. The Steak au Poivre and fries are the best! Creme' Brûlée is yummy as well as everything else eaten here. The wine list is affordable with some really nice selections. I love the booths and the overall ambiance of Raoul's. The artwork is so much more than expected at the this beautiful Soho gem. Art of all variety adorns the walls and spaces, they should offer art tours during the day when it's not so crowded and you can really appreciate it all. I will be back and am so thankful to have found this historic bistro that totally reminds me of Paris."

  • "This used to be one of my favorite restaurants in New York. You'd walk in and feel like you were stepping into a great old bistro in Paris. Great food, great wine, and great service used to be the rule. Now, instead, you have pushy staff who cannot seem to be bothered to help a customer. It took three requests to get water from our server and two to get extra pickled vegetables with our Foie Gras Mousse. That being said, the food remains stellar. The crab toasts are a dream, and we nearly licked the jar that held the foie gras mousse. Roast chicken and skate were both cooked perfectly, with unique and delicious accompaniments. The experience though would improve with better lighting and service."
