Raoul'sDecoration and atmosphere'sDecoration and atmosphere's wonderful, a little nostalgia. People talk with moderate voice. So it really is a good spot for a small group of people meeting tgt.
We were a group of six. We had steak tartar and octopus for appetizers. Very tasty. For entrees, pasta, pollock and steak (that day's special dish) were good.
We ordered several desserts. Most were okay. Brulee's the best. Also, it's great fun to have the birthday special.5/5/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellentBeen coming for years, always exceptional. Great local spot.5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMClassic French NYC gemThe ambiance + the atmosphere were outstanding . The food was great. I didn't have a chance to try out the wine because Maple mojitos did it just fine for me.
Raul's doesn't overdo- nor under-do anything: food, ambiance, service... they are very successful in keeping a perfect balance.
I also enjoyed the tarot reading by Elaine:)
If i lived in the neighborhood I would be a regular. One of the classic NYC gems, that became rarity this days...4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMWe enjoyed Raoul's and wouldWe enjoyed Raoul's and would recommend to others. It is truly a Paris bistro experience, cool neighborhood, smaller space, tight tables and noisy. That being said, like Paris, people enjoy their food and savor the ambience. Ask for a table in the rear of the restaurant though, ours was out front by the bar, loud as well as elbow to elbow(my wife had her foot stepped on moving through the gauntlet to leave.
Food was very good, read about the steak au poivre and it was a winner. Good menu and wine options(nice range of varietals and prices). Our waiter was top notch and the sommelier very helpful and made a great recommendation on a bottle (at the lower end of the price point range!).
We will definitely return4/26/2013 12:00:00 AMReally nice place. Food wasReally nice place. Food was amazing. Highly recommend the octopus salad if it's on the menu when you go. It's really tight in there. Don't expect to have a private conversation. But the tightness also means there's a nice, warm, intimate vibe in there. Highly recommend.4/22/2013 12:00:00 AMTerrific old world classicTerrific old world classic set in the middle of trendy Soho. Food is fabulous from meat to fish. Wine list well distributed between high and medium, no low. Only argument is the close quarters and tight fit. Would definitely return.4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMAll around great experience. All around great experience. We had not been there in awhile and decided to take another couple who visited NYC for a month. They said it was their best meal of the entire visit.4/14/2013 12:00:00 AMA classic French, bohemianA classic French, bohemian bistro with great service and a lively crowd.
Some fresh, briney oysters, tasty steak frites, hericot vert and Sancerre. . . perfection!
Oh, and I almost forgot. . . the profiteroles nestled in a gilded sugar cage with one candle for my husband's birthday? We love Raoul's.4/14/2013 12:00:00 AMYou should make a reservationYou should make a reservation well in advance if you want a particular night and time. This restaurant gets crowded and with good reason. The staff is attentive and the menu well thought out. Try the oysters...We will be back.4/10/2013 12:00:00 AMFrissee Sslad awesome, steakFrissee Sslad awesome, steak frites as good as it gets but save roomfor dessert and get the gig thing and the goat milk cheese cake!4/4/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat!!!!This is one of my favorite places in NY and certainly the best in SoHo. Great atmosphere (always!) Nice, friendly and efficient service. Cocktails were quickly and properly served. And great food!! Though nicely presented, the Tartare is not the best in town, but the rest was incredibly well prepared and temperatures perfect: new recipe for the skate, delicious and a point spicy. Dorade as in France. Thank you!3/28/2013 12:00:00 AMAn excellent restaurant recommendedAn excellent restaurant recommended by a friend. Tucked away but well worth a visit. The steak au poivre was amazing, the profiteroles are a must and the wine was exceptional.3/16/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat classic restaurantThis is one of the most authentic French restaurants in NYC. Great atmosphere, as Sam Sifton once said “Raoul’s is the place people are looking for when they walk off the campus at State for the last time and make the move east. Steak frites and a vin rouge can — just like that — become the taste of home. “
This is quintessentially SoHo at its best… since the 70’s. Everything is delicious, surprisingly humble and simple. Steak tartare, salmon, salads.. Just go!2/17/2013 12:00:00 AM
