A word from Rao's - Caesars Palace Las Vegas

At each visit, the Rao's family wants it to feel as if yours is the only table in the room. The impeccable Southern Italian fare stems from the dishes' high-quality ingredients, such as house-roasted red peppers, freshly grated Pecorino-Romano and Parmigiano-Reggiano cheeses, Felipo Berio olive oil and certified San Marzano plum tomatoes imported from Italy. For more than 115 years, that's the way the family has cooked in their iconic New York kitchen, and tradition is alive and well at their Las Vegas restaurant.

The time-honored staples include perfectly cooked pastas, risottos and the mouthwatering steak bistecca; cooked perfectly and sliced tableside. The classic veal chop is pan-seared and topped with a medley of hot and sweet cherry peppers.

Went to dinner at Rao's, Looked good, Menu looked good. Service was good. Food was a little cold when it arrived to the table. During our entire dinner the fire alarm went off for about 45 mins, it seemed. The fire lights strobed through most of the dinner. Resturant acted as if it happened all the time. Dinner guest were not sure what to do for the manger seemed to be having a bad day and did not take the time to alert the guests that it was a false alarm. But boy they did not have a problem dropping you a $500.00 bill with no "sorry about that" "Or can we offer you a desert" Just not thrilled with the dinning experience.

This was our second time staying at Caesar's Palace and dining at Rao's Restaurant. The ambience, food, and attention from wait staff was truly exceptional. Not one thing could be considered mediocre or disappointing. We have booked a return visit at Caesar's Palace to take place in a couple of months and will return to Rao's once more for a wonderful Italian meal.

The food was very good. However as is typical for food in a restaurant on the Las Vegas strip, you do not get much for your money. The portions need to be larger. The waiter was helpful which is Important in a restaurant with a sophisticated menu.

If I were working for the Open Table...I would be sure to check out where this restaurant seats their people. We had reservations...the place was empty. But we walked through the whole restaurant to the back area. The service was miserable. The food was all right. I can make the salad and pasta for less than $10, but I understand the cost of the overhead. So we accepted the price. Knew that going in!! We waited for our second drinks for 15 minutes. Had to stop eating or we would have had our drinks for dessert. The last straw was when my husband had to get up and walk to the waitress who happened to be folding napkins. This would never happen at the Mesa Grill or the Joe's stone crab. We are locals and frequent these restaurants. Not going back. Thank you. Pat & James Johnston

We've never been able to go to Rao's in New York, somethig about having to get dressed up and reserve months in advance, so while we were in Las Vegas, we decided to try for the Rao's "experience." Everything about this Rao's was very nice, good food, good service, we sat in an outer facing area, so we didn't get the experience of the inner sanctum, but still nice. Just not $150 nice, maybe $100 nice. We had the salmon special of the day and the eggplant parmesan. We buy the sauce at home in jars, and I think the jarred sauce was better. Don't get me wrong, I'll keep trying to go to the New York restaurant, but this one will serve as a good place holder.

This was my first time at Rao's. The salad portions are huge, and 2 people could easily share the Caesar Salad and the grilled vegetable platter. Our waiter was incredible. As soon as I said I would not be able to order the famous meatballs due to my not eating pork, he went through the menu so I could know what could be ordered without pork. And the waiter was the one who suggested we share the salad and vegetables. We were never rushed, and his recommendations were perfect. The veal piccatta was fork tender and the mashed potatoes were wonderful. We were too full to order dessert. This is a restaurant to try and to return to in the near future!

I've been to the original, and this was almost as good. Meatballs, just like they should be. Lemon Chicken excellent and veal parm on the bone, superb. My only complaint is they wanted to put us near kitchen door, with many other tables around. I wondered if open table reservations are looked at differently. We asked for another table and got it. Rest of the night was great !!

Service was attentive but terse and "order now, eat fast, and get the heck out of here so we can free up the table". Prices were high but not insultingly so. Bread was stale and cold. Wine list was very poor.... in terms of variety and pricing. Appetizers (baked clams and fried calamari) were edible. Caesar salad was like you get at the airport to-go kiosks. Shrimp fra diablo: 6 defrosted shrimp on a plate with some red sauce out of a jar....heated in the microwave. Other entrees similarly disappointing. Salmon special was portion sized for a small child. everyone liked the meatballs... .good, but not great. You can get better italian at any NY/NJ stripmall restaurant or even the Olive Garden for that matter.

If you are ever in Vegas and love good food, especially Italian, make a reservation for Rao's. I can't say if the food is as good as it's New York counterpart, but it would be difficult to imagine it being any better. Rao's portions are huge, very rich, very filling. Pasta dishes are plated tableside; if you are planning to share any of the dishes, just tell them...they are more than happy to split them (including the salad). The meal will start with a basket of delicious crusty bread and olive oil, but save room, and you'll need bread to scrap up all your amazing sauces. I'm not going to go on about our individual dishes except to say get anything with porcini mushroom sauce (aka crack), get meatballs, get dessert. Mangiare Bene

Food here was very good. Had the fried seafood platter and seafood salad apps, both were very tasty. Fried app had 2 shrimp, 1 piece of fish and the rest squid. Could have been a better mix. Had tagliatellini with ham and peas for the pasta course, it was out of this world good. I had the veal piccata for entree, wife had the eggplant parm and mom had the pork chop, all were done perfectly. We had a side of meatballs as well. you get 2 baseball size meatballs. They were very good as well. Not the best, I prefer smaller meatballs but they were very tasty. Service was top motch as well. Definatelt worth a visit

I had heard so much about this resturant that I had to go while in Vegas. What a disappointment!! I've had much better Italian food in Ft Lauderdale for 2/3 the price. The lasagna was good not great. The veal chop was very fatty and for $53 should have been a much better quality.

The meatballs and lemon chicken, two of their noted menu items were not hot when presented. The waiter and bus boy were having some disagreement and were heatedly in conversation by our table. Waiter didn't check on us after the food was served. Could not get waiters attention to order a second cocktail.

I had the Uncle Vincent Lemon Chicken which I loved and my husband had the beef lasagna which he did not care for. There you have it, two people, two different opinions. I ordered a Lemon Drop and it was perfect.

Based on its Harlem cousin, this place satisfies completely. Everything goes smoothly here from start to finish. The wine steward even came over and sat at our table and chatted with us for a while during a lull in his work. Hose salad is very nicely dressed. The marinara is excellent as were the gnocchi it bathed. The Osso Bucco and the veal chop Miianesse were both outstanding a nd significant portions. Cannoli was terrific.

The only way for most of us to taste Rao's cuisine requires braving the hordes on the strip and in the casino but once you survive that gauntlet tasty Italian American food is an excellent reward. Portions are large both in size and cost (de rigeur in Las Vegas) and can be split with no one going hungary. We each had a glass of barbera which went well with our meal. The Caesar salad was enough for 2 and came with a flavorful dressing, handily split before service. Mike enjoyed his hearty meaty and cheesey lasagne and I was happy with pasta bolognese. Our server was attentive despite having to wait on a party of 20 behind us. All in all, we enjoyed Raos.

The food was outstanding. The pasta was perfectly prepared, al dente and the sauce was scrumptious. We asked for some extra sauce and we were charged $3 extra. Very disappointing. At the prices they charge, Frankie can put an extra spoonful of gravy on my pasta without charging extra. The servers were attentive but not authentic; none of them pronounced the food choices properly. Overall excellent food, the rest, not so much.
