A word from Ranoush
Head chef & owner of Ranoush, Aboud Alhamid brings to Saint Louis the finest combination of Middle Eastern cuisine. Aboud hails from Syria, the heart of the Middle East. He incorporates his mom’s home & family recipes along with the freshest ingredients to Ranoush’s menu in order for customers to enjoy a truly authentic Syrian experience. Aboud has been working in the hospitality industry for more than twelve years around the world. He wishes to import the same fun & animated atmosphere here to Ranoush. Aboud is grateful to be here in the land of opportunity, realizing his dream of building cultural connections between the East and West through food & enjoyment. So what does “Ranoush” mean, you ask? It is an Arabic lady’s nickname – Aboud named his restaurant after his wife. Here at Ranoush, Aboud offers you the Syrian experience from the heart of the Middle East. Enjoy! And Ahlan wa sahlan!

The appetizers were good but the main course was not. Very dry and the shrimp tasted like they tried to cook cocktail shrimp. Service really slowed down once they got busy. Felt like they needed one more server.

Having been to Turkey we weren't expecting too much from Ranoush and they delivered. The meals were a bit expensive but the meat portions were somewhat generous. Still, the quality of the meat was a bit rough and low quality (kept having stiff bits of fat stuck in my teeth). The garlic butter was awesome but everything else seemed like something I would throw together after getting my first real apartment (salads with full leaves). There was a belly dancer which was unique but the music was too loud and I was turned away from the area she was in so I kept craning my neck. They also have hookahs but that isn't our thing.

I've been to Ranoush four times and had an excellent meal with very good service each time. This last trip was even more wonderful, though. My friends and I went to Ranoush on a Thursday evening to celebrate a birthday. Once the staff heard this, they helped make the evening extra special. The dinner presentation was festive, overall service was outstanding, and they even gave the birthday girl a little extra treat at the end of the meal - plus something even more fun for the table. This was a perfect place to celebrate as the food is always great, plus the waiters and chef were wonderful!
