    Valet parking is provided by Chevy Chase Pavilion and is located on Military Road, NW. The cost of valet per car is $12.

  • "The food was great. While some people in my party thought the menu was a little limited, I was happy with the variety on the menu. I was most pleased with the service. I consistently find the service in DC to be the weak compared to other major cities (NY and Chicago particularly). I will say, Range was one of my best service experiences since moving here. Three of the menu items were sold out, the waiter was good enough to go back and check a second time and get the last of one dish. The staff knew the food and no pretenses. Great ambiance and awesome design. I was a little taken back when I realized the restaurant was in a mall, but aside from catching the H&M sign out of the corner of my ear a couple times, you'd hardly notice."

  • "Highly meat based menu. Not as much for those who are less inclined to a slab of flesh. Some interesting flavors, such as "bacon marmalade". I got pizza and it was so-so. My comments are probably not applicable to those going for the meat. Excellent service, great physical space."

  • "Everything we ordered at Range -- from the delicately prepared tasting of lamb right down the the mac and cheese and brussels sprouts -- was delicious and beautifully presented. Although simple, the beet salad with goat cheese and basil vinaigrette was a real highlight. Our server was friendly and accommodating, and the decor and ambiance of the restaurant was fantastic (we particularly enjoyed the comfortable upholstered seating, as we lingered over dinner for more than two hours!) We did, however, find that the meal was a bit overpriced for what we received --we assume we were paying for the name. That aside, a lovely evening was had by all at Range."

  • "Not only was it quite limited, but some of the best items, like pasta, no longer appeared on the menu. Our lunches, mostly tuna burgers, lamb burgers, and pizza were good but nothing special. The French fries were way too salty, as especially witnessed by a friend's ankles swelling up within a couple hours. The homemade sodas were okay but not worth $4.00 (and no refills). The waiter was rather aloof and seemed to disappear when we needed him (a complaint we've also had at dinner). The best menu item we had was the ice-cream sandwiches. It seems that, at least from what I've read in other reviews, the best items have been transferred to the new restaurant, Aggio. As Aggio isn't open at lunch, there isn't even a choice of restaurant."

  • "We'd had a really good meal at Range last year. Since then the menu has been reduced, so what had been a broader selection of dishes is gone. A number of good dishes remained, including some past favorites. The menu prominently features "wood fired" steaks, at high prices. I ordered one, with the other limited entree selections not appealing, medium rare. Came out solidly medium - a light pink at best. Sent it back, but the next one was almost identical - perhaps even more cooked. Manager came over to explain the cook steaks "sous vide" first and then grill only at the end - but no explanation why they sous vide'd the steaks to medium. Third try was in fact medium rare, but a different cut and despite being "prime" was quite tough."

  • "I returned here after dining several times before they changed the menu. Unfortunately, I don't like the new dinner menu. Some of my favorite items are still there at the same price, but they are smaller, e.g. the bread basket used to be awesome. Not anymore. To get pasta now you have to go to their restaurant within a restaurant. I liked it better in its old iteration."

  • "Visited Range for a Monday lunch. It was great...I chose the prix fixe. The kale salad superb, my scallops delish and the choco semifreddo was yummy. Our server was especially knowledgeable about the ingredients as I was dining with a someone who's super allergic. Perhaps I'm a fatty and wanted more protein...the salad dish came with two scallops but it was lunchtime. I ordered the cornbread because I was still hungry...only had 1 yummy slice. My eyes are bigger than my stomach. This experience was much better than my previous experience."

  • "Sat at bar for 15 mins with no acknowledgement from bartender. Even if busy, a quick "I'll be right with you" would be great. Dinner was fine. Food came out a bit on the slower side, but for a busy Saturday night it wasn't the end of the world. Again, the service was just so-so. Every time we needed something - another drink, etc, the waiter was really hard to find. I hate when you go to a restaurant and you can't have a conversation because you've been taken over by a game of who can spot the server first so you can order something. Overall, the food was pretty good, but service was terrible. It just seemed they were way, way too busy to be bothered. We had a very nice server when he did come to our table, it was just very minimal."

  • "We went on a Sunday evening and it was not packed. We were given table/booth. One person (me) had to sit on a crack between two sections of the bottom cushion of the booth and the two sections were uneven and very uncomfortable. Our waiter was very distracted the whole evening. Some food was excellent and other options were not good at all. I would not go back."

  • "I made a reservation to Range months ago anticipating a great Italian experience; however, they have since moved all their pasta dishes to their other restaurant, Aggio. They would not let me order off the other menu or change my seating. I cannot afford to eat out often, so I was very disappointed. The restaurant was also very hot and uncomfortable and the waitress was curt and rude after I explained my predicament. I know it is my fault for not looking at the changes to the restaurant, but an exceptional place would accommodate my request for such a special occasion. The dessert was exceptional, however."

  • "Range is a unique dining experience. They recently reduced the menu options and this makes selection process easier. Service was outstanding - Sam and the entire team did a great job. Seafood Sampler was fantastic - followed by three salads we all shared - heirloom tomato, beet and buratta was most memorable. Best main course was pork cheeks. Brussell sprouts and cauliflower were great as side vegetables. The deserts were over the top....we had white chocolate, rice krispee treats, salted caramel ice cream. Great night with friends to say the least."

  • "With reservations for my husband's birthday, we walked from our Chevy Chase home. The young hostess staff is incompetent and apparently w/o grown-up supervision. They treated us rudely - placing us in a dark corner at a shelf in the back when we asked for a quiet table away from the very noisy bar and close dining seating. We were told that the empty tables we saw nearby were not available and we would have to wait a long time to have an actual table. Perhaps we appeared to be other than young, midst the mostly 30-somethings, but we should have been treated with respect. Rather than "put up a fight" we left and found very gracious service across the street at Capitol Grille. We will not go back to Range. Many better options are near."

  • "had high hopes, and while meat was good enough, and it worked well to split the 16 oz rib eye an appetizer and three sides among three of us, the broccoli rabe and meat seemed ... greasy, or too buttery. Our favorite dish for the night was the brussel sprouts, and the biscuits with jalapeno jelly. too many other good restaurants around to want to go back to this one, but if it did return, I'd try a different cut of meat and would not get the mac and cheese of broccoli sides."

  • "I booked a reservation at Range about 5 weeks in advance. We were seated promptly, but placed at a counter top instead of one of the many tables for two. Not only was I disappointed in the fact I was sitting side by side with my date, but we were also facing an oven that was frequented by kitchen staff. These seats should not even exist in a place that serves food in the price range that Range does. We asked to be reseated and had no luck. We ordered the shrimp cocktail and it was good, but a very small portion. I then ordered the steak and my date ordered a pizza. Both entrees were good, but did not impress me in the way I had hoped when considering the price. Cocktails were good and came quickly. Overall, I doubt we'll be back."

The noise level was too high and does not coordinate with the culinary attempt. The menu was too limited . A restaurant must depend on repeat business but we would not try this again.   • "The food was fantastic. Although the portions look small, the food is so rich and beautifully cooked it satisfied any and all of your hunger.The noise was ridiculously loud. We were seated right next to the bar and couldn't hear each others conversation. There were other tables located further away from the bar that would have been a better choice. We enjoyed the meal but it was very hard to hear."

  • "We ate here for the first time this past week with friends. What a great restaurant! There were so many different things to try. Instead of getting full entrees, we decided to get appetizers and sides to share, along with the cheese and ham platters. What a great choice! You have to try the Brussels sprouts, even if you have never liked them in the past, like me. You'll be blown away! I was also very impressed with the house-made cocktails. My one complaint about the cocktails is that I had no clue what many of the ingredients were on the menu! Our service was top-notch: helpful, friendly, fun, but not overbearing. I'll go back again and again!"

  • "The food is always good at Range but the service leaves a bit to be desired. Everything from the hostess, coat check and servers needs improvement. The wait staff set the wrong plate in front of every single person in our party of 5. At this price point, mistakes like this shouldn't happen and we shouldn't have had to shuffle our own plates around the table to get our meals. We also had to flag down our server to get more drinks for the table, dessert menus, etc. In the future, I will sit at the bar and order as the bartenders are terrific."

  • "The range has this perfectly eclectic and modern feel to it, providing you with 100% organic and free range food, and may I add, excellent beverages. When buying a bottle of wine, an expert comes by to evaluate what type of food you plan on eating, to offer the most profound and eloquent wine pairing. The waiter, Matt, did an excellent job of timing each plate, to ensure that our hunger was addressed, but not rushed. Each course/plate was literally the most flavorful and delicious work of art. We were left completely satisfied and tummies were perfectly exuberant."

  • "I have dined at Range 4 times in the and alwaysenjoyed the small plate sharing concept. We were very disappointed with the new format and concept.The little things like the addition of romaine to the kale Caesar that disappointed us. The salted caramel dessert contained more salt than the steak we ordered and was very disappointing. This was salted caramel pudding is in no way comparable to Mozza's salted caramel budino that was out of this world. We have no issues paying for well executed food, however based on the execution of this most recent experience the value for price paid was not there. We left with the feeling that the restaurant is struggling financially and is trying to please a broader audience and has lost its identity."

  • "We were given gift certificates to Range for a couple of special occasions and decided to finally use them. We love Range and go there from time to time. This was not the night we had hoped for. After a very long wait and several trips to the hostess stand, we were seated almost 45 minutes past our reservation time. Service was friendly (especially the manager) but slow, they were out of what we had wanted to order and when we finally got our meals, my husband's steak was very overdone. We sent it back and the second one was overdone too. By the time we ate, we were all exhausted as by then we were an hour and a half past our original reservation time. My advice--don't go on a Saturday night. I don't think they can handle crowds."
