wines, a private dining room and a wood fired oven, in which much of the fare will be prepared. In addition to offering daily featured dishes, the

  • "We came here for some appetizers and drinks before an evening event. They had some really good ideas on the menu, but uneven execution. The tartare was excellent, but I probably would not have served it with standard, grocery store tortilla chips. The rabbit croquettes were beautifully presented, but a little too large, to my taste. There were some other items that sounded fantastic, but we didn't get to try everything, obviously, so perhaps we just ordered wrong. I'd give them another try, but this visit was just good, not exceptional. Service was very friendly, which made the difference."

  • "Ate at the Range for the first time and was reasonably pleased. The wait staff was very attentive and accommodating. We started with the carrot hummus which was very good but included a large doll up of puréed mint which my spouse does not care for. The kale ceasar salad was just fine to split for 2. My wife had the dumplings as an entree which was acceptable but not inspired. It was in a pumpkin sauce which had what seemed to be an excessive amount of nutmeg. The sugar steak and accompanying potatoes and asparagus were very good. The Range does not seem to stack up to our favorite restaurants in and around Denver."

  • "But not quite there. Menu needs some work. I had salad with apples and avocados... dressing didn't quite work for me. A little too acidic to enhance the ingredients. Then had "trout cakes" appetizer which was also strange. I was expecting little trout patties, kind of like mini-crab cakes, but what appeared were 3 small slabs of quite salty smoked trout, I think, each one leaning against a small potato roll, kind of like an elegant tater tot but pretty bland, as was the lemon garlic aioli which accompanied the dish. Dinner companions seemed happy but no one just raved over their choices. Bread tray very good...switching out pretzel bites for more of fabulous popovers would make it even better. but small round of butter . Not nearly enough!"

  • "For a joint that's been open only a matter of weeks, range's front of the house appears to be clicking like a well-oiled machine. A not-overbearing or overly pretentious menu, good draft selections, a great interior vibe, and an excuse to visit the impressive lobby in the new Renaissance property make this a worthwhile dining stop in the CBD. Try the bacon jam flatbread and the cast iron sugar steak with marrow."

  • "I had first experienced Chef Paul's food when he was at Zink, and at that time I couldn't believe that such good food was part of a so-so hotel venue. Here, he is even better than he was at Zink! Everything is delicious, and the setting ... OMG, I can't remember the last time I saw a hotel lobby as beautiful as this. The restaurant itself is spectacular, too, both in terms of decor and food."

  • "We did not find Range to be all that special. It was just adequate. My wife enjoyed the tortilla soup. The smoked bacon jam flatbread was a little boring. The lamb belly was also not that memorable. They just need to charge it up a few notches. It is a hotel restaurant and there are TVs on but the space is otherwise very nice. To get to the restroom you will pass through an awesome atrium with a cool internally lit bar."

  • "Pros: The food was very good, though we weren't terribly hungry so we each had the kale ceaser and split the charred carrot hummus. Both were unique and very good. Cons: The wine list was very pricey! I think it was $11 for a glass of 7 Layer Cake Shiraz which seems a bit ridiculous. The nearly dead atmosphere at 8:30 on a Saturday evening left us feeling like there was something we didn't know. If there were 5 tables I would have been surprised. Definitely didn't need the reservation that I had made. Finally, the music was off putting. It was very eclectic, playing random songs from a variety of genres and eras. In a more casual environment okay, but for a place that's a little more upscale I would recommend some down-tempo/lounge."

  • "range is smaller in size, the walls are marble and there are exposed steel beams, all of which make for a noisy dining experience but when you take into account you're eating in the lobby of a 1915 bank the noise becomes more tolerable. Overall the food was good. The ingredients were fresh and high quality but our meals had been prepared too far in advance of them being served. For example, I ordered the Steak Tartare Tostadas. By the time I received the dish the tostadas were chewy, soggy and the steak was room temperature. The service was good, attentive, yet not overbearing. The manager did a great job of accommodating us when we asked for a quieter table so we could talk without raising our voices."

  • "We have eaten at range twice now, once for dinner and once for lunch. The restaurant has a great modern-Western décor and isn't too large, almost intimate. The menu is thoughtful and covers both hearty meat-eaters and vegetarians and vegans. The carrot humus is a great sharing dish to start with. The food is fresh and beautifully presented. Staff was very courteous. My only complaint being the terrible habit of servers to put the check next to the men at the table--bad assumption. Otherwise, we were very pleased, the BBQ oysters are awesome and the lamb belly is savory and unique."

  • "Restaurant/Hotel had only been open 1 week, and there were only 3 other tables in the place on a Friday, so it's hard to tell if the noise level will pick up. But overall Range has potential! The space is GORGEOUS! Service was exceptional (but again we were 1 of 4 tables). Butcher's Board had a nice - and generous selection. Scallops were delicious! Ricotta Dumplings were a bit too subtle/delicate - needed more flavor. Would definitely go back to check out the vibe in a few months! "

  • "For our first time at this brand new restaurant, the four of us ordered a wide selection and ate family style. We had the Smoked Bacon Jam flatbread and all enjoyed its sweet/savory flavor and the excellent flatbread. The Kale Caesar was a pleasant surprise with its finely chopped kale and fresh made dressing. We also shared the fried green tomatoes, grilled albacore tuna, lamb belly and smoked trout cakes. Enjoyed them all, but the lamb, although very tasty, was very fatty. The portions are on the large side, so order accordingly."

  • "We switched restaurants at the last minute to try range and we were not disappointed. We tried the assorted bread selection and loved it: jalapeño, pretzel and popover rolls with seasoned butter and local honey. I chose the ricotta dumplings with cauliflower and mushrooms, a green salad and chipotle grits. Each dish was well seasoned and presented delightful flavor combinations. The portions were very shareable. Amanda, our server, and the rest of the staff were very pleasant and eager to please. My closing coffee was quite good and we made it to the theater with time to spare, after checking out the amazing hotel (ex-bank) lobby and bar. Highly recommended. "
