The food was good and service attentive. We had flatbread for a starter, which really amounted to a tasty pizza. One serving is plenty for two. We had the Alaskan Char which was cooked just right. Only drawback was the noise level. Bar a bit noisy and that with piped in background music detracted from the experience.

I've been three times now. Excellent food all three occasions, but the acoustics are BRUTAL. Even when the restaurant was not very busy, sound bounces around so vigorously that it has been difficult to hear the people sitting at the table with me (difficult for all of us to hear each other. This isn't me being idiosyncratic). It has really hampered enjoyment of the social element of dining with friends. On this most recent visit, service was oddly slow even though we were there very early in the evening and the place was only 20% full. Getting the drinks took a full 15 minutes, for reasons that were totally unclear. Our waitress was friendly and appeared to be trying, but seemed to have a difficult time managing and coordinating, even for our non-demanding table of 4 low-key adults.

Range has pretty good food although some things are certainly far better than others (which are about standard). The service is currently what I view as lacking. Portion sizes are pretty good. Apps and flatbreads are really tasty.

2 people had pork and liked it, one person had a shrimp appetizer and there was way too much sauce for the amount of grits and shrimp -it was more like soup. I had the sirloin - the sauce was very salty and it came with what was described as blue cheese tater tots - they werent chunky like tots but rather a paste of potatoes with some metallic tasting blue cheese mixed in and fried - surprisingly flavorless and unappealing. I mentioned it to a manager type who came to our table and he said they were coming off the menu in a few weeks - really if you know they aren't good get them off now. He brought us 2 desserts to make up for it but all in all pretty lackluster and pricey for what it is so we aren't compelled to go back.

We had a terrific dining experience: the food was excellent and varied, the service was attentive but not intrusive, and the ambiance was attractive and relaxing. Range is within easy walking distance to the Performing Arts Center, and the first thing the server asked is whether we were headed to an event afterward, giving us comfort that they would pay attention to any timing constraints.

Range is a great restaurant all around: the food, the atmosphere, and the location. Beautifully modern decor with seasonally driven menu are the few reasons I love to dine at range. My most recent experience includes a group of 6, where we ordered a variety of lunch menu items and were left unbelievable amused by the quality of food and taste. The Caesar Kale salad is a must try item, followed by the exceptionally delicious Niman Ranch “never” burger with jalapeno bacon and smoked chili aioli. I highly recommend the range to anyone looking for a delicious and varied menu.

Our first visit. Décor is pleasant and the seating very comfortable. We were first seated where one of us would be looking directly into a fluorescent lit kitchen (not exhibition-style) - there was no apparent door on the kitchen, nor any screen to mask this view so we asked to be moved. New seats at a banquette were much nicer but the new two-top was a smaller table than our first. The menu is very creative and offered exciting options - especially small-plates and starters. The stuffed dates were fantastic and the bacon wrapped jalapenos were among the best we've had. The chicken and waffle was delicious and the steak was perfectly prepared. Cocktails were innovative and great! Dessert menu looked enticing but we were out of room!

If you want a deafeningly noisy room full of hipsters eating weird food combinations, don't go. Instead, Range offers serene, sophisticated dining with lovely wines in the atmospheric Renaissance Hotel, carved from the historic Colorado National Bank building. Great for pre-theater dining as its a short walk to the Denver Center for Performing Arts. Chef does everything well, with notable salads and vegetable sides. No time for dessert but the decaf espresso was expertly made. Wonderful service. Now I know where I'm going for my birthday.

Had dinner at Range with a friend before the theatre on a Saturday night. We had reservations at 5:15 pm. The place was empty when we arrived, but we were shown to the WORST table in the restaurant, right in front of the kitchen. We asked to move, which we were. When ordering a bottle of wine, we asked the server which of two bottles that we were considering she would recommend. She recommended the pricier of the two bottles. It felt like she was trying to upsell us. When we told her our decision (it was the pricier bottle), she tried to upsell us again, encouraging us to select an even pricier bottle. Food was so-so; my char was overcooked. Popovers and biscuits were very good, but not good enough to warrant a return visit.

We visited to have a pre-theater dinner at Range based on reviews and online info of this relatively new restaurant. We found the menu to be interesting and the food to be well-prepared and very delicious. We limited out meal to appetizers and first courses and plan to return to try the entree offerings. Will recommend Range to family and friends.

My first visit to range was for lunch. Their menu had several items which I would consider ordering, but I went with the daily special: a half smoked chicken with butternut squash hash. I am a small person and don't usually clean my plate, but I did just that, because it was SO DELICIOUS!! I can't wait to go back for more. This chef cares about creating good, tasty food. Wife and I ate dinner on Oct. 25th. All sauces were overly salty in our estimation. Wife had only appetizers, involving a shrimp dish, a salad and bison carpaccio. She complained that the carpaccio should have been served with some type of bread. I had the grilled tuna appetizer, which was o.k. except for again the sauce which was extremely spicy. I had the Crispy chicken with waffles and a side order of asparagus. Chicken was good, but did not touch the waffles. The best part was dessert, which was "coffee and donuts". Wine by the glass was fairly pricey, although my chardonnay from a CA. vineyard was very good.

First time to the range. It was my wife's birthday and we wanted to try a new place. Overall very nice and for in hotel restaurant very good The area needing improvement 1) small menu. If the menu changes periodically, not a problem, but if not I would not eat here often. 2) having private booths would have been nice. Open concept seating is understood for the dining option this restaurant supports, but a few private booths would be nice The good 1) service was great. Attentive but out of the way. 2) food. Very flavorful and right portion. Not too much not to little. 3) drinks and wine. Nice selection and mixed drinks well made. Recommend if staying in hotel. And BTW great hotel.

Could not make a larger portion of an appetizer into an entrée. Really? Dining Room Manager was helping bus tables. Spraying cleaner all over the place. Destroyed ambiance with the smell of windex for about five minutes. Valet Parking totally out of control. Will park elsewhere next time. They even admitted they were overwhelmed upon arrival and I had to search for them to retrieve car.

We stayed in the Renaissance Hotel and decided to give Range a try as well. The atmosphere is relaxing with the dark woods and subtle lighting. We started with soup and bread and we both ordered entrees. My husband got a smoky pork dish that was a little too smoky for both of our tastes. My scallops were a tad underdone but still very good. I feel like the sweet potatoes purée was a little bland and maybe a richer accompaniment to the scallops would have been more enjoyable. Our waiter was great and there was always someone filling our water or pouring us another glass of wine. Overall, a pleasant experience.

So glad that range is the new Renaissance restaurant! The building itself is incredible (renovated from an old bank building) and that really adds to the ambiance. Everything I have had at this restaurant (lunches and one dinner) has been fantastic. It was quiet on a Sunday night, which was great for our quiet family meal. There will be more of a rush around lunch during the weekdays so plan accordingly. Great meal, thanks!

We enjoyed the beautiful spaces in both the restaurant and the lobby. We did feel a bit lonely, there being only one other table occupied at 12:30 on a Saturday afternoon. The food was very good and the service prompt and friendly. One suggestion: we went to the restaurant before going to a theatre matinee at the DCPA. Although validated free parking is provided for 3 hours, that is not long enough for a meal and a play--after 3 hours, the parking tab goes to $18. (We did say we were going to go somewhere else because of that--and the bellman said they would not charge). They should offer free or $10 max parking for the whole afternoon or evening to theater patrons--seems like a good way to boost business at the restaurant.

Have been to this restaurant 3 times for lunch. Once for a birthday lunch. The food is always above expectations, however the service is extremely slow. Not sure if Range has enough servers for the size of restaurant, it looks like when you finally see your server they are coming your direction and they end up hustling to another table. Also wasn't very impressed with desert, selection okay, actual desert was not worth the extra calories. If they could improve on service this would be a great place to recommend for any occasion or just lunch.

Had dinner at Range after drinks at the very cool bar in the new Renaissance Hotel. Absolutely everything was fantastic! The dates appetizer was so delicious, as was the burrata cheese with heirloom tomatoes. There were 4 people in our party and we all ordered something different. The scallops were melt in your mouth delicious, the pork tenderloin was delectable and the chicken and waffles were the best I've ever tasted! The wine list was great and our waiter could not have been more gracious. We were pleasantly surprised at just how good a hotel restaurant could be. Complimentary valet parking topped it off. The only downside was that it didn't appear very busy for a Saturday night. Hope it does well...highly recommended!

My husband and I tried range for the first time last night. It was an incredible experience. From our knowledgeable server that recommended a delicious wine to the food to the ambiance to the dessert, it was just perfect. We had the dates and they were phenomenal - perfect - sweet, savory, delicious! Next was our main courses - smoked “tender belly” pork for my husband and mary’s crispy hot chicken for me. My husband was floored by his dinner and enjoyed every bite. I was delighted to find out I had chosen, essentially, fried chicken and cornbread. The cornbread was delicious, the chicken perfectly juicy and crispy all on top of this delicious chili sauce. We then enjoyed a s'mores tart and left stuffed. We will be back!!!!

My gf and I came in for a foodie night and we were not disappointed. We started off with the dates and then moved onto the heirloom salad and the tuna dish which was amazing! The heirloom salad had prosciutto wrapped pears.. What?! So good! David our server was great. Very knowledgeable about the menu and gf options/ suggestions. He also endulged us with some witty banter which is great. No one just wants an "order taker" when dining out. One item was beverage service. For a kettle 1 soda and a makers and ginger, it took 5+ minutes. As a bartender myself, that's enough time to make a restaurant full of highballs. The venue was not very busy, maybe 5-7 tables that we could see so the delay on beverage service may need to be addressed.
