Diner Reviews
  • "Food was great. Steaks cooked perfectly and great service. Even got a call from Randy wanting to know if everything was good."

  • "We went to Randy's to celebrate my husband's birthday. Not only was the food incredible, our server was very personable and so nice! It was a Monday evening so there weren't many people there but the chef still came by to greet everyone and ask how everything was. Love this place! We have been several times and we have good experiences every time, I think because it wasn'tcrowded, made it more special."

  • "Right from the start, we were disappointed. The door handle at the front door is about to fall off, a sign your upkeep isn't what it should be. The main dining room could really use a redo but the food was not good, either. I would suggest you serve a few different types of bread, AND butter, not just pate. My tilapia was the biggest disappointment AND your sides should not be a la carte at the prices you charge for an entree. WE have many choices in this area, sorry, but we won't be back. Thank you for the opportunity to add our comments. Our hope is that they will be read, reviewed and acted upon to make dining in your establishment more enjoyable for the next couple that tries it for the first time."

  • "Much disappointed with quality and overcooking of steaks this time. Last visit was good enough to bring us back. This visit went the other way."

  • "I have been going to Randy's for at least 5 years now and I really like this place. The owner, Randy, is always walking around and checking on his guests...you hardly ever see that any more! Also, the restaurant has my phone number on file and Randy called me the next day to thank me for being a patron and wanted to check on our experience. Nothing but positives. Our waiter was top notch and he practically had the menu memorized. His service was outstanding and his attitude and professionalism reflects the high level that Randy demands from his staff. A great experience! Thank you Randy!!!"

  • "Steaks were great! Creme Brulee was very good. Great meal overall."

  • "If my bill was half of the amount then the experience would not have been bad. The filet was overcooked. I got cold potato augratin. It was soupy as well. They ran out of dessert. I had salmon it was fair. Service was fine. It prices itself on the same level as some of the premier steakhouse in the area. Really not fair given the quality of the food. I will never go back even though I live in the aware and I want to support local businesses. Its just not worth it. I can not stress enough."

  • "Service was friendly but not equal to other steakhouses with the same prices. Same with wine presentation. Steak was ok but not consistently cooked for the group given their directions when ordering. Fish was said to be fishy. Sides were the best part along with dessert. Wine was also too warm...not at proper temp for high end reds."

  • "Me and a group of my friends just look for things to celebrate so we can meet-up at Randy's. We're looking for a new member to join our group whose birthday is in May!! Know anyone? Schedule dinner for immediately after happy hour and arrive early enough just to enjoy the bar before dinner; it's always lively and fun! The food is just awesome; have never been disappointed! We'll be seeing you and the crew soon, Randy!"

  • "This had a lot of good reviews , great location and a well notable chef. We made last minute reservation at 0645, since it was the only place available we went for it. That should have been the first warning sign. We arrived to an empty parking lot at prime time in the middle of a thriving city. We were greeted and taken to our table. We were introduced to the chef, who was walking around the dining room drinking whiskey! We then ordered our food, with an empty dining room, it took well over an hour to eat. When our food arrived, it was the lowest quality cut of steaks i have ever been exposed to in my life.My wife's filet had a huge piece of fat in the middle, walnuts on top and a thick gravy trying to pass as a bordelaise. It was inedible"

  • "We've lived in the area for 6 years and this was our first visit to Randy's. The menu was well rounded and had plenty to choose from. We opted for the filet, potatoes au gratin, and wedge salads. Steaks were cooked as requested and everything else was quite good. Service was good, but not superb as it was Valentine's weekend and they were pretty busy. We will definitely return to Randy's."

  • "Thsi was our second time here and we had an average experience. The kitchen was very behind and at times we thought we had been overlooked. The water glasses were constantly refilled. service was not what we would expect in a steak house with a reputation like Randy's. My wide's food was extremely over seasoned but took so long to get there that she ate half out of desperation. With all the competition out there, probably will be a while until we return."

  • "Cheep wine glasses . Slowe service 45 min delay with a with a reservation . A 4 stare rating the bar persons and the wait staff should know the right glass to serve the wine verrital in. Not a cheap Doller General wine glass."

  • "My steak was cooked medium rare. It had a warm red center surrounded by A LOT of well done meat. It must have been cooked at a very low temperature. Not my expectation of medium rare. I ordered a baked potato with butter and sour cream, but they forgot the butter and sour cream and served a dry potato with chives. They brought us a new potato with dessert. Really? We had a $100 gift certificate but had to pay cash for our expensive drinks. The waitress didn't care -- She got a $40.00 tip! No refunds on the unspent portion of our certificate. This used to be a great restaurant when it was small and Randy did the cooking. Not so anymore."

  • "The old home gave us a feeling of history. The salad was nice and crisp and the home made bread with the garlic flavored butter complemented the bread. Our steaks came out cooked just right. We were disappointed in the service. Our entre was brought before we were nearly finised with salads and the waiter attempted to remove them but left them when requested. We wanted to order a second drink but did not see our server. There appeared to be a lot of wait staff in training."

  • "Disappointing food. We had been before for the bar and the bar food. That was a fine experience. Dinner (steak) was not good."

  • "Our waiter and the various wait staff were very apologetic for the shortage of silverware and wait time. Apparently they were extremely booked. The fried crawfish were awesome, the blackberry filet was incredible, the 28 oz ribeye was okay-I was really looking forward to a much better cut. But, the bread pudding was too due for!!"

  • "My steak was not correctly cooked even after being sent back and had quite a bit of fat on it, strange given it was a NY strip. Not worth the ala carte price of $37"

  • "It's in the name! Great steak and the appetizers were delicious. The atmosphere was nice and intimate for a date setting, but isn't the selling point for me coming back. I would come back based on the food. Wine list was basic and house red wasn't my taste. Our server was very personable and polite."

  • "We got seated on time on Valentine's Day, which was the only thing that turned out nice service-wise. While at the bar waiting (we showed up early), there was no waiter getting drink orders in the bar area. I went to the bar and the couple seated at the bar next to where I ordered got their drinks comped from the bartender (2 beers and 2 glasses of wine). Then I got charged over $20 for 2 small vodka tonics. We got seated at our table on time, and it took our waitress forever to bring out our bread (the table next to us got 2 loaves before we got 1). Overall the food was good, though small portions on the salads. The bread pudding was awful. It was soggy, had too many raisins, and was drenched in whiskey. Poor effort there."

  • "I booked this restaurant for Valentine's day, but right from the beginning realized that they were way overbooked and the service was bad. We had to wait 45 min for our table and while waiting had problems just ordering a beer at the bar. We had to clean our own table. Once we got our table the waitress was good, but the food was poor for the money charged. I was very disappointed and wished I would have taken my date somewhere else."

  • "We took friends here on a Friday night. The service was slow as it generally is and the food was just so - so which is disappointing for the price. Each visit has been inconsistent, good one time and not so good the next. This visit the soup was cold and the steak was tough. With co many restaurant choices we will be dining elsewhere in the future."

  • "Service was very good, prices of drinks very reasonable, appetizers excellent. Atmosphere great. We had steaks of different kinds but both were not very memorable--- at home we salt and pepper steaks before cooking--both of our steaks were bland and could have been considered "choice" rather than "prime". Good overall Might try again"

  • "Randy's has been in Frisco for as long as I have and has always been busy - That observation speaks for itself. So date night - PreValentine, I took my wife for dinner. Bread and Butter start - Delicious. Next, the Wine list was extensive and the variety in both flavor and price range. We decided on a bottle of a 2010 Merlot from the Hall vinyards "Napa Valley". We ordered the spinach and cheese stuffed mushrooms for an appetizer, She had the 8oz Filet cooked medium, I had the 12oz Ribeye. We shared the Potatoes Au Gratin and Sauteed Mushrooms. Every bite was delicious. For Dessert - Creme Brulee for me and Strawberry Romanoff for her - again, served and prepared perfectly! I will be back - This was the Perfect Date Nite Dinner!"

  • "Steaks were tasty but a bit dry. I asked for medium well which usually has pink inside, but the steak was slightly over cooked"

  • "Food was just "ok", and service matched. We thought that stuffed mushrooms were excellent appetizer but it went downhill from there. Wines were over priced and neither of our steaks impressed us. We left thinking that for the money, we could have done much better"

  • "Steak was grisly and hard to cut thru even with a steak knife, which was separating from its handle."

  • "Friendly service, beautiful historic home turned restaurant. Great place to experience "old Frisco". Rooms with fireplaces, outdoor patio for summer. Upscale dining or casual, laid back bar atmosphere where anything on menu is available, as well as a great happy hour every weeknight with bar menu items. Absolute best onion rings anywhere! Recommend blue cheese stuffed filet, parmesan crusted tilapia, chicken piccata. Sides are generous and delicious."

  • "Food was great...tasty and well-prepared. Our 1st time at Randy's, thanks to a gift certificate from our son for our 46th wedding anniversary. Markus, our server, went out of his way to make the evening special. Had to send my soup back for heating but only a small glitch to deal with, Wife had parmesan crusted tilapia (excellent) and I had baby back ribs (have had better, but these were tasty, nonetheless) with sides of layonaise potatoes...appetizer of onion rings (very large order, big enough for a tableful of folks) and extremely good house bread. Absolutely nothing to complain about and an overall wonderful anniversary experience."

  • "I don't have anything bad to say about this outing. The staff was great. The good was good but too pricey for what we got. They have great wine selection but as a couple that drinks wine often.. We knew they were way overpriced in this area. I doubt we will go again, but for an anniversary dinner that was quiet and romantic I give it an A in that area ."
