Diner Reviews
  • "Randy's is a secret gem on Main Street in Frisco. It has a quaint ambiance in an old home with retro photos scattered throughout. The service was exceptional and the staff are experienced in making your dining experience very special. The menu has a variety of selections for all different tastes with some house specialties. You won't be disappointed and worth the drive if you don't live close by. Reaervations recommended for the weekends."

  • "The experience at Randy's was wonderful. Wait staff very attentive and the food was delicious. I was pleasantly surprised the next day when Randy himself called to thank us for dining with them."

  • "This was our first time at Randy's. We thought the food was good, not great but good. The price for "good" was too high for a return visit in my opinion. Love the old house feel though and could see going back to the bar to enjoy a drink and an appetizer. There are equally good steakhouses in driving distance that aren't quite so pricey."

  • "food was very average for the cost. The ambience for a anniversary very poor. The dinning chairs had stains. Due to ambience the price needs to be more affordable. Realize historical location and will become a historical restaurant if pricing does not come back in line. Will not dine again"

  • "Best steak we've ever had. Can tell it was dry aged a long time. Cooked perfectly!! We went for their $35 special. Neither of us could finish everything. Staff was really nice!!"

  • "We had a group of 12 for the Fourth of July and had excellent service, great food and drinks. The desserts are superb. We love to go to Randy's for our family celebrations. Make reservations."

  • "Randy's is locatd in an converted and quaint home in downtown Frisco and the building has been designated as an Historical Site by the Texas Historical Commission. The food was very good, the service was great, and the atmosphere is cozy and subdued. Great date-night place to impress your current or potential partner! Randy himself came out to ensure all our needs were being met, and helped my fiancé and I celebrate her birthday with style!"

  • "Randy's was suggested by a friend for our special evening. This was our first visit...many more to come. Great!"

  • "We enjoyed the best prime rib dinners! Friendly staff and best bartenders! 5-star! We are frequent visitors!"

  • "You have to try Randy's $35 3-course meal. Wow, all I can say is that you won't walk away hungry. If you're like me, you'll have leftovers for another wonderful meal at home. The Salads are SO fresh and tasty, the steak was perfectly prepared - so tender and flavorful, and the dessert was lightly sweet and satisfying. This is the BEST steak dinner for the price anywhere!"

  • "We eat at Randy's a handful of times each year, and meet friends there as well. This particular trip was a bit loud, but that was really a function of the people at the surrounding tables. But, the food was as good as ever."

  • "The food was very average, the service was slow, unknowledgable, and the prices were high. Would not go back or recommend. The chef had a very heavy hand with the pepper on every dish to the point it was unpleasant to eat."

  • "I absolutely love this restaurant, the food is to die for! The service was quick and friendly and the restaurant is so nice!"

  • "We have been trying to attend the fantastic Friday night $19.95 prime rib, and finally made it. We made a reservation and had to go early at 6pm because of another event. Nice rooms in this 1800's house for intimate dining or family dining. Great staff. Chef came out and asked out our food. The only negative, noting comes with special but prime rib, everything else like salad and sides are all extra. It was a great date night."

  • "My wife and I spent another wonderful anniversary celebration this past Saturday evening at Randy' sThe food was excellent but as importantly, our server Mandy absolutely made our dinner a special event with her attention to every little detail and her lovely warm smile. Thanks to all at Randy's!"

  • "The steak at Randy's was awesome. With blue cheese on top and a little bit of sauce it was wonderful. The cream corn and asparagus on the other hand were under cooked...almost crunchy. I don't know if they were in a hurry, got busy, or what, but the vegetables kept the dinner from being a 4 or 5 star experience. The bread and special butter were very good and the desserts were huge and very nice. "

  • "We have been to Randy's several times. The food and service has degraded to the point that we just cannot recommend it to anyone. "

  • "We started out rough and it just kept getting worse. The bar didn't have J&B Scotch - not to big of a deal but not great. Then the champagne we ordered was also out so of course they "up-sold" us to a bottle that was $20.00 more expensive. Still ok, however when we sent back a steak that was half the size of the other two of the exact kind, it went downhill from there. The waiter didn't come and check on us, plates were not cleared, we sat at our table with empty plates waiting for our server to return and offer dessert which he finally did and they took forever to arrive as well. We would have left w/ out dessert, but we were celebrating our son's birthday and didn't want to ruin his meal further. We will never return here."

  • "The food, ambiance, and service were great. My girlfriend and I both got steaks and they were perfectly cooked and very tasteful. Only complaint was the price. We shared an appetizer and each orders a cocktail, main dish, and one side. After tip we spend $170.00. Seems like a lot compared with other places we've been "

  • "In one word... Excellent. Very relaxed atmosphere. Our server Aaron was both pleasant and very courteous to our needs for time and not wanting things to be rushed. Our dinner was prepared to perfection and your desserts were out of this world. Not to mention your selection of cognacs were nice and even more delicious when sipped. A very lovely evening my wife and I were needing. "

  • "Overall, very good. My wife had the Maine lobster special-would suggest the guest be given some type of a bib ,plus cocktail fork for easier removal of some of the meat. "

  • "My wife and I are here for our anniversary and we had a good expirence. The food was good and well prepared. We had a good server and the place was quiet which we loved. The only real negative thing was that the service was a bit slow. But overall a good dining experience."

  • "We had dinner on Mother's Day at Randy's and was not busy at all. We made reservations and did not get seated for about 10 minutes. Once seated in a room with about 15 tables and only 4 had people dining and that was including us. After 15 minutes I asked if we were going to get bread and the server said yes.we waited for another 30 minutes and I asked if we were going to get bread. It took him 5 minutes. We waited another 30 minutes before food came out. It took a over an hour to get our food. The people that came in afterus receive their food and left before we even got our food. When we finally receive our food their was only one other table in a different dining room left. Absolutely would not come back to Randy's and will not recommend"

  • "Great food but expensive. When paying $35 a steak, the service and attention should be exceptional. It was not. We had to ask for bread the first time and when they asked if we wanted more and we said yes, it never came. Our baked potatoes were lukewarm which we sent back. Small details were missed like offering ground pepper. Just not over the top service you would expect for the price."

  • "My husband and daughter took me Randy's for Mother's Day. The food was excellent! We moved to Frisco in 2006 and found Randy's. We go back every year for special occasions and every day visits just because we love it! The shrimp appetizer is awesome. My husband had the prime rib and it was cooked to perfection. My daughter and I had the 12 oz filet. It melts in your mouth. The service was outstanding!!! I was wished a Happy Mother's Day by every staff member we came in contact with. They also provided a $25 dollar gift that was totally unexpected, but totally appreciated! We are already planing outr next visit in a couple of weeks when my father-in-law visits. If you haven't tried Randy's we highly suggest you try!!!"

  • "My wife and I decided to ignore some reviews and go see for ourselves, and we are definitely glad that we did! The parmesan-crusted tiliapia dish was the best ever, along with sides of garlic mash potatoes and broccoli. Ahhh, and the bread pudding was delicious....and more than plenty for two. The steaks we saw at other tables were being sliced like they were tender as butter - and we will make another visit for steaks! Our waiter was knowledgeable and friendly. The ambiance in this Victorian house was unique and very pleasing. Randy came out to personally check with diners regarding their dining experience. We will certainly be returning to Randy's Steakhouse because it was a very enjoyable dining experience. We highly recommend it!"

  • "Found dining area was loud. Waitress serving table behind us very talkive. Did not stop. Our waitress was great but most I noticed like to laugh and cut up. Food was good but whole dinner not worth total cost."

  • "We go for the Friday night Prime rib and have never been disappointed. Always flavorful, roasted to perfect Medium rare and MOIST! I add a little fresh pepper from the mill and that's it! (Although they do provide a lovely creamed horseradish sauce and au jus.) Service is always attentive and the servers pleasant and smiling. Love the ambience of an old Texas farm home with small rooms and family photos everywhere. Randy always calls with a thank you for our business and that's a special touch."

  • "As pricey as Randy's is you would expect excellent food. The filets, if prime, were no better than a choice filet. Nothing special. A piece of meat on a plate, no garnish or sauce. The salmon, while a nice piece of fish was raw in the middle. If we had wanted sushi we'd have gone to a Japanese place. The kids Mac N' Cheese appeared to be of the frozen variety, not fresh, and the kids would not eat it. To be fair, the onion rings, mushrooms and bread pudding were awesome. $300 for six adults and 2 kids...we probably won't be back."

  • "An old house turned into a steak place. Very good wine list. Very tasty desserts. Service and steaks were less than I would have expected. My waiter forgot to ask how I wanted my steak cooked, finally flagged him down to ask for medium-rare. The ribeye was very plain and undercooked. My wife's filet (ordered medium) was served a perfect medium rare and was delicious. The macaroni and cheese had a sour flavor that was too sour for a four-year old. Several of the other tables had equally bad service (salads brought out *after* the steaks, etc). There was a younger waiter with longer hair that did his best to salvage everyone's nights, but he was the lone bright spot. We may have just been there on a bad night, but we won't be back."

  • "Prices are way too high. $37 filet was gristly. $8 salad had lettuce with brown edges. Asparagus side that was described as being enough for 2 was barely enough for 1. When making the reservation I had mentioned that we'd be celebrating our 10 year anniversary, however there was no mention or congratulations while we were dining. They have a long way to go to compete with other fine dining restaurants in the area. "

  • "We wanted a nice place with good food and pleasant atmosphere where we could visit without having to shout. We found this at Randy's and were able to enjoy a good visit while two teenagers, a 46 year-old birthday man, and myself, a senior lady, were able to enjoy the many choices of delicious appetizers, entrees, and the great dessert that came comped to the birthday guy. We left knowing we would choose this place again."

  • "Randy's is very good, but for the price, I wouldn't say great. The menu could use a bit of a refresh, even though there are some great sounding choices. Just didn't seem quite up to par for what is billed as a top-notch steak house. Great ambience, though."

  • "We went to Randy's for Easter lunch and it was fabulous. We enjoyed Prime Rib and Filet for our meat choices. They were both cooked very well and had an enjoyable flavor. For our sides, we enjoyed the Garlic Mashed Potatoes, Creamed Corn and Steamed Broccoli. I could have made a meal just out of those, they were so good. The food portions are very generous and are spot on for the price. I loved seeing Randy and his family at the restaurant on Sunday as well. They were a welcoming site for a family restaurant on a family holiday. We will be back, next time with no kids and we will enjoy the cool little bar/lounge area. This is a great little family owned place in the middle of a big city with many chains. "

  • "This is far from our first time at Randy's. I have never been a fan but I keep going back for my wife. My wife loves it but I am completely unimpressed to the point that I will never go back. I have ordered filets, chicken piccata and chicken marsala and they have all been mediocre at best. My most common complaint is that the meat is tough and dry. Most recently, I ordered a filet that came out tough and chewy. It was a little overcooked, I can live with that, but it was also dry. Randy's is overpriced for the quality of the food that you get. $6.95 for a baked potato? Another complaint that I have is everything is smothered in garlic. Why does everything have to be overloaded with garlic? "
