Took my wife on a romantic getaway to San Diego and Rama was the perfect Thai place to take her. Rama was so much better than I thought it was going to be. The scene of the restraunt was perfect, it made you feel warm and cozy. The food was excellent, our favorite was the Shaken Tiger.

It is a little deceiving when you enter the restaurant from the street. If you just keep walking down the hall you will be surprised at how magical the room is! The food was delicious, the service was slow. It just seemed to be a very busy night with not a lot of workers.

A little on the expensive side for Thia food, but it is to be expected for a nice restaurant in Downtown. We had the crying tiger ($22) and yellow curry with chicken ($14). Both of which were very good and you can't go wrong with mango sticky rice. The atmosphere is very romantic with the back wall entirely made of a flat rock water instillation and each table has a sheer curtain to separate them for a little more private dining experience. The staff was very friendly and they had a DJ playing music as an appropriate noise level.

Perhaps we caught them on an off night; the food was unremarkable, lacked flavor, and was very greasy. Given the hype re previous reviews I had high expectations, but was disappointed re the above and quite frankly the decor, though intriguing, was badly in need of a thorough cleaning: dusty vents and particularly the mesh curtains that fairly draped over the tables were embedded with debris (quite unappetizing). Finally the parking situation in downtown San Diego was atrocious; it was a rainy night and we ended up paying for underground parking two blocks away at an additional expense (the meal was moderately expensive as well and should have cost about half the price we paid based on similar venues close to home and Pasadena isn't cheap).

An awful evening with the restaurant claiming system issues but there clearly being too few serving staff who themselves were evasive when asked what why there were never ending delays. Having owned and run a restaurant, the management of this one clearly has issues. At one point we almost walked out.

I love this place. The food is delicious, the wine list workable, it's very pretty in that urban/warehouse way, and the atmosphere is awesome. Great romantic spot / for sort-of secluded dinners for two.

The food was not exceptional but good. The quantity for the appetizers was too large as is such a high quality Thai restaurant you would want to have the opportunity to sample many different dishes. The service was excellent.
