Diner Reviews
  • "We have dined here several times, and it is always consistently excellent, food & service. The 3 appetizers & glass of wine for $33 is one of the best deals going."

  • "My wife and I visited Ralph's based on a recommendation, and left satisfied. Admittedly, we were caught slightly off-guard by the formal atmosphere (described on the restaurant's web site as "smart casual"), but our experience was positive from beginning to end. The menu is short but diverse, and the food is fantastic. The service is attentive without being intrusive. The complimentary valet parking is greatly appreciated. Overall, Ralph's is a bit pricey and formal for an everyday lunch spot, but would be perfect for classing up a special daytime occasion."

  • "Ralph's was a dining experience. We were never rushed but were given just the right amount of time to enjoy the entire lunch. Food was delicious. All 4 of us ordered different items and all 4 of us were extremely p[leased."

  • "Great summer specials at a beautiful place. Great service and creative dishes. Wine list could use improvement."

  • "The 3 appetizers and wine is a fabulous summer time treat…Lots of excellent food…everyone at our table enjoyed."

  • "Had a great brunch at Ralph's. Will absolutely be going back. The scene of the City Park from the dining room was exquisite, and our waitress was very attentive."

  • "After so much great food in New Orleans we were looking forward to this lovely restaurant by the entrance to the City Park. The menu looked wonderful, but the execution was off on nearly every item. We had several appetizers, all were just good. And based on the reviews we expected better. Good turtle soup, which I enjoyed. Fried smoked oysters would have been better, but the frying oil needed to be changed and left a poor taste. The romaine salad was good. The braised goat pasta, tough in sections and had large piece of silver skin still attached; could have been really good. The strip steak had promise but was undercooked, then refired (same piece of meat) and still not cooked properly. Veggie plate was good, again not great."

  • "While everyone in our group really enjoyed their meals we were slightly disappointed that out of 6 entree items they ran out of 3 before we could order. The apps were all delicious!!!"

  • "My husband and I were seated next to a very large group who were rather loud. We had the same waitress as the large group and as a consequence, she spent most of her time with them. We had to wait for a clean up when some wine was spilled at our table."

  • "The summer special in which you can choose three appetizers and a glass of wine is such a great idea!"

  • "Hard to compete in this city of fabulous places to dine. Was very disappointed on Father's Day. Hopes were too high. Food was very average. Staff was great, though. For these prices I expect close to perfection. Come Ralph. :)"

  • "Ralph's on the Park had a nice vibe on this Sunday morning - a buzz, but not too noisy. Service was swift and cordial without being intrusive. All members of our party were well satisfied with their appetizer (We all had the smoked fried oysters) and entrees. Two of us had the steak and eggs, while the other two had the pimento cheese encrusted catfish (delicious) and the hollandaise eggs with crawfish tails (also delicious). The only slight disappointment were the "special" bloody marys. The basil and the chipotle bloodies tasted pretty much like a traditional bloody to us."

  • "Wonderful views of City Park from the main dining room. The presentation of food was exceptional, each entree was masterfully crafted. The chef sent out a delightful "amuse bouche" or "lagniappe" as we call it here in NOLA of cherry tomato gazpacho to our table between courses. I highly recommend Ralph's as another wonderful Ralph Brennan establishment."

  • "Loved the summer 3 appetizers and a glass of wine deal. Lots of variety and foodie options. My husband had the steak and was very pleased as well."

  • "Food was great, but they didn't have a couple of items that was on the menu that we wanted. Other wise, every thing else was great!"

  • "We went on the last Thursday of May, and half the place was a group of 10 or more. Presumably wedding related. Added up to incredibly loud and not what I expect in a $300 meal for two. But the food was good (steak house)"

  • "Food was good. Service was good. There were several large parties and it was very loud in there. There's sort of a snobby air about, but I guess that goes with the territory. Our server was good- she had our table and a rather large party but she did not forget about us."

  • "The food is mediocre. The prices are high for what you get. The catfish tasted swampy. The menu is too small. Need more choices. The beet salad was in edible. We paid $175 for a lousy meal. The view is nice. "

  • "We originally went to moring call in city park but decided we wanted a more filling breakfast before walking the park. A quick google maps search showed this place close by and open table got us a reservation within 15 minutes. Food was great, location was awesome. We were seated by the window and were able to see the park and watch people. It was a great start to our day. And the live music in the lounge was good too--just a piano player. We really enjoyed the experience. The crab on fried green tomato with arugula appetizer was fantastic. As was the shrimp n grits dish. The biscuits were very well made and tasty. "

  • "Nicole, our waitress, was EXCELLENT! Superb job! Boudin balls were nasty. Ugh. Being a true Cajun, they were terrible. Use white meat for fried chicken ok."

  • "Beautiful setting for lunch (or anytime). We had a delicious lunch. It's nice to be able to talk. Most restaurants are too loud and tables are too close. Not here. We enjoyed our food. Everything was delicious! And valet parking is offered. "

  • "As always, I enjoyed my brunch time at Ralphs at the Park. Was a little disappointed that Joe Krown was not at the piano but the music was nice. I noticed this time that the food took an exceptionally long time to arrive at our table without any mention of the delay from the waiter. As usual the food was spectacular - enjoyed the Ralph's Breakfast and the bloody mary's are wonderful with lemon basil infused vodka. "

  • "Never disappointed with the service and the food. This is excellent restaurant to go to prior to the theater with their special menu and transportation to and from the Saenger."

  • "My wife and I went to Ralph's on the recommendation of a friend. The food was good, the service was second rate. We thought we were going to a first rate place, this is not it!"

  • "At $400 (with drinks) for food from special menu (3 courses, $48), this was no exception: mediocre, obviously pre-cooked. Shrimp remoulade:3 shrimp, handful of lettuce, a barely there drizzle of remoulade; veal paillards: limp and grey, "topped" by 3 tiny dried out crawfish; pork tenderloin, purportedly "medium": badly undercooked--seared on the outside, raw throughout, practically inedible; side of brussels sprouts seriously overcooked. Everything lukewarm. Dessert came before dishes were cleared. Our server was trying very hard and working her butt off, but obviously had too many big tables. When will we learn that restaurants just aren't at their best on holidays? "

  • "As we expected, the food and service, are consistently outstanding. Within a year, we have eaten there twice for lunch, and had a rehearsal dinner there for 50 people. Every single guest enjoyed their meal and the fabulous service. The location and ambience of Ralph's on the Park also make it a first choice for any special occasion. "

  • "Ralph's on the Park is located on City Park Avenue and you have a beautiful view of the oaks in City Park. We had a table of six and everyone enjoyed the food. I have been there on several occasions and always request a window seat to enjoy the meal and the view!"

  • "We had fish that was bland. The waiter-recommended fried chicken was only average. We had to flag down our waiter (Barry) a couple of times to remind him about things he forgot. Overall, on our second visit to Ralphs on the Park, we were disappointed. The food should have been much better and the service was lacking. For the prices and the Brennan's reputation, we expected much more."

  • "Ralph's on the Park is worth a trip and worthy of many return trips. The menu is extensive and the food is all notable. This is a special place for special occasions."

  • "We enjoyed a Sunday brunch, dining, at our request, in the bar, which has a great view of the park. The noise level nearly drowned out the sound of the expertly played piano, and made conversation at our table of four difficult. As usual, some interesting menu items, including braised goat on some egg dishes and the smoked fried oysters. The latter didn't benefit from a bbq topping, but were enjoyable. The wait person was helpful and pleasant but seemed a bit over-burdened. "

  • "A very New Orleans type upscale restaurant. Food is excellent to very good with a great wine and cocktail list. I love the setting with the murals on one side and on the other a view of the oaks from city park. The service is excellent and the food is both modern and regional. I have been there several times and will go back. "

  • "Always great food. Mostly locals. A restaurant you can always count on to be consistent "

  • "This is our third visit to Ralph's over as many years. Not only is the service outstanding and the food consistently top notch, the menu changes enough to be interesting, without going over the top with trendiness. The appetizer of smoked, deep fried oysters sounds simple but was a great twist on oysters which really brought out their flavors. The manager also sent over an amuse bouche of redfish on top of a small slice of toast with a delicate sauce. Every entree at our table from a grilled lamb T-bone to duck breast to the barbecued shrimp was excellently prepared. And finally, this was a Friday night during Jazzfest. Not every restaurant can provide this high quality consistently. "
