Good food at America's oldest continuously family-owned and operated italian restaurant. We went with business partners partly for the novelty as it was their first trip to the US. The food was more than adequate with surprisingly large portions. The environment was the perfect amount of casual and the prices were very appropriate. Will definitely be taking customers and co-workers there in the future. I highly recommend Ralph's for the right events. Specific to this visit, the mussels white were great (a little spicy, which we loved) and the veal parm is a solid entree.

Fifteen years ago, when I went to Ralph's for the first time, I wondered why everyone raved about it. Took me about ten minutes to understand. Whenever we get visitors from outside the area, we take them to Ralph's. Subsequently, they tell their friends, etc. Center City restaurants are really good. Ralph's stands alone.

The food is always delicious at Ralph's. Only complaint is that a salad does not come with dinner. Ordering the large salad from the menu is too much - it is too big. It is a shame that Ralph's does not offer a small side dinner salad - I would be happy to even order it a la carte for a couple of bucks. As a result, rather than order the large salad, I do without - and Ralph's does without any salad revenue.

Ralph's food never disappoints. There gravy is outstanding. I had the gnocchi and it's just like my mother makes. My husband had the veal parm. The portion of veal was unbelievable. My husbands stomach is like a bottomless pit and he could not finish it. The seating is a little tight. The next table is right next to you. The food makes up for that. We will be coming back no doubt.

Have frequented this restaurant for many years. The service is always good. The chairs are always small and tables too close together but was worth the discomfort with great food as the trade off. NOT THIS TIME! The food (sauteed escarole) was watery and flavorless. The Roasted peppers tasted straight out of can or jar very sour tasting, bitter, watery and just not what you expect from Ralphs. My platter was lukewarm and my fellow diner who has also eaten here many many times had a veal parm and while large was not tasty to the point that I asked if Management had recently changed. What a shame Ralphs you can do better don't just live on rep.

Ralph's still does some of the best traditional Italian in South Philly. We had the tomato and mozzarella salad for an appetizer. Tomatoes were fresh and chilled and mozzarella balls were salty and delicious. For dinner, the veal parm (huge! enough let for a generous lunch sandwich) and chicken with sauteed tomatoes, which was good, but not exactly what expected. Cannoli cake for dessert was out of sight. And a nice half carafe of house Pinot Grigio with the meal. Overall, a very good experience. A word to the thrifty consumer, Ralph's has raised its prices on some dishes as much as 20 percent since last year.

We had a reservation for 8/21/14 using the Living Social Voucher. The choses were limited but we had no problem picking an appetizer, salad and entree. The food was very good and concerning our service, we were treated as if we did not have a voucher. They now take credit cards and we will definitely return in the future if another deal comes along.

I always love my Ralph's dining experience. We pull up to the curb, beep once, and the valet comes right out. We never have more than a few minutes wait, but like to give them notice by making a reservation. My favorites are the mussels over pasta and the veal saltimboco (sp?). They also serve great wine in carafes.

I went to Ralph's because my oven was broken and I found a groupon for it. The food was amazing. I got the fettuccini alfredo and my boyfriend got the shrimp scampi. The shrimp scampi was out of this world! The service was so-so and the waiter made a face when I told him I had a groupon, which I though was rude because it wasn't like I wouldn't still tip him on the real amount, but whatever, I would definitely go back and this time get the shrimp scampi!

My son and I met in Philly for another amazing dinner at Ralphs. While neither of us bothered to open our menus mainly because we already knew what we were going to have. My son and I love our Veal Parmigiana and there is really no where better then Ralphs. The salad which was huge fresh and cold was followed by the mouth watering veal parm. As always Ralphs is your home cooked away from home. We will be back soon.

We went to Ralph's with high expectations as the last time we visited, the food & service were excellent. Not this time. One of us didn't get our food at all because the waiter forgot to order it. When it came, it was the wrong entrée. Very disappointing. The waiter tried to make it right by bringing two complementary desserts. Food wasn't good enough to warrant another visit. Mine came cold, pasta came after I was practically finished eating & the overall taste was just OK. Everyone else in our party agreed!

Ralph's feels like 'authentic' South Philly Italian dining. Lunch was nicely served by Dominick, and the ambience is warm and inviting. The prices for lunch used to be a lot lower, and now seem a bit expensive, but we're glad we went.

Food is very good. I had the ravioli and meatballs, husband had veal and both were excellent. Beware - this place is very cramped and you're seated right on top of each other. A table for two is tight! Service was okay, nothing special. They were very busy on the Sat we were there. Prices were reasonable for a city restaurant and the wine list was decent. Take advantage of the valet parking because you would spend hours circling the block looking for a spot and there are no nearby lots. Would definitely return for more visits.

Family style and usually fine, but getting worse by the visit. In this case, very slow (45+ minutes for entrees) service also was accompanied by a lasagna that was super-hot on the outside and literally cold on the inside. Really inexcusable in an Italian comfort food restaurant. the house Chianti was undrinkable and very unlikely Chianti. I am certainly not expecting anything outstanding, but there are plenty of perfectly palatable Chiantis that would be more appropriate and still economical for the restaurant.

We went with a family of 5 (all adults) for a late dinner around 9 pm on a Friday night. Everyone enjoyed their meals and said they'd definitely come back. Three of us had heaping portions of lasagna made with sausage, not ground beef, which everyone agreed was pretty tasty. Two had pasta with sausage. The sauce was delicious, but the sausage was hard (dried out?). Would definitely have the pasta again, but would not order with sausage. Wait staff was very accommodating, even turning down the air a bit when we requested. Ambiance is old world Italian, with large murals on the wall and music in the background (we sat upstairs). It was a bit noisy, due to a couple of other large parties. Would recommend downstairs if you're a couple.
